I have went back and forth for months now, and with all the rumors and the people I speak with at work, game stores, retail stores, etc. there is no way I am taking a chance on buying one of those junky 360's. I really wanted one because there are some great games for the system, and I really like the original XBOX, but my money will be going to either or both SONY and NINTENDO who have proven that make dependable hardware. It's too bad Microsoft makes such bad hardware.

All hardware breaks down eventually and it's not like Sony is made for high-quality products. But hey, if you like what the PS3 has to offer, I wish you the best of luck :)
Well my Xbox 360 works fine- ive had it for over a year & none of my friends have had faulty Xbox 360s.... its all down to who u hear it from. if u hear it on the internet then basically dont trust it- all u need is 1 person with a faulty console & that drowns out the thousands who's console is fine.
1) Not a bad choice 2) You can always get an Xbox360 from Costco. Free lifetime warranty. Or you can get one from BestBuy ($60 for a 2 year extended warranty. Of course, you're on your own after those 2 years)

I like to consider the quality of a company by my experience. In my experience, I have went throught 3 Playstations and 2 PS2s. Meanwhile I have kept the same N64 and Gamecube. Maybe it's me or maybe, just maybe, Sony products are cheaply made.
like i said all u need is 1 fanboy on the internet to talk about how their console 'broke down' & it makes the problem sound really bad. Yes some Xbox 360s do break down but the problem isnt as bad as some (Sony) would like you to think.

I don't think Sony fanboys are flocking to the Xbox message boards to make up stories. If you look at the messageboards at each respective company, you'll find one board has much more hardware concerns than the other. I'm not saying Sony makes magnificent hardware all the time. It's just that for this particular generation, they got the hardware reliability right. Now if only they could urge developers to churn good games out and fast! I don't need to prove that the Sony fanboys aren't doing it (I have no idea). My whole thing is that I find it funny when people say things with nothing to back it up. And using the "it's the internet" works both ways.

Actually, that is the very reason that I've decided to buy a PS3 over a 360 (I made a thread like that asking about hardware issues with the PS3, people have said that's it's fine). I wish consoles were just as reliable as in the past, where you wouldn't have to worry about them overheating every time you play. >.>

Hopefully, the Zephyr will address the overheating issues. Either way, I'd still buy a warranty. With all the technology being crammed into consoles nowadays and the high prices tags ($400-$600), it makes sense to pick up an extended warranty no matter which system you ultimately decide to go with.

I would go with the games. Not the hardware. My X360 broke down twice. But I still have it because the games appeal to me more then the other consoles do at the moment.
Oh, and it won't cost you anything to get it repaired. First time took me a week to get it back. Second time only 5 days if I can recall. It seems fine now.

My first 360 broke in two weeks, and yes, before you say anything I read the manual and made sure I followed the rules. Other consoles are more durable, so you do not have to take such precautions.
And just incase you accuse me of being a fanboy my gamertag is conantheleader and I play GEARs nearly everyday.
