[QUOTE="too_much_eslim"] 360, PC, and PS3 has more quality titiles then the wii.Shinobishyguy

Yeah, I guess I made a poor argument there.

My point was supposed to be that he isn't wrong for liking the Wii just because he's in "the minority."

Plus, there are discrepancies between people on what is a "quality title." I've probably had more fun just playing SSBB than Oblivion, Halo, and COD4 combined.

Games that I normally would love are just not exciting anymore. SSBB for me is no different than SSB. People complain about Halo 3 just being a prettier Halo2 when they literally changed teh flow of teh gameplay by adding the equipment. While with SSBB nothing change ecept for giving the user one powerful power up. I use to love SSB, but now I can care less.

the ignorence is strong with this post.

honestly...I bet you never even played the game.

If anything they added just as much, if not, more stuff to SSBB than Halo 3

Um everything you mentioned I can do in Halo 3. I am talking about the core gameplay of SSB. I wanted them to create different move sets for the characters. SSB is just a fanservice. I respect teh game because I grew up loving it, but now it is not just the same. I can say the same for Halo 3, but at least in that game the single player experience was awesome for me And they are still improving the online for it.

like the core gameplay of halo3 changed alot...yeah

I'll ask again

did you play it?

Do you know about pokemon trainer who is basically three character in one which adds more stratigy or olimar who uses pikmin for unique attacks?

Um Halo 3 changed my play style. because of equipment. I play Halo2 and then go to Halo 3 and it i slike night and day. I'll be playing SSBB soon, but like I said I am not excited about the game anymore

Dude the wii's online play is a joke. It's not even worth comparing to XBL and PSN. LOL I bet you'd think being able to save your snapshot is a big deal? How about being able to record your gameplay?

To the OP...

I don't think it matters which system(s) you own as none of them grant you the title of "gamer". If it makes you happy, who cares what other people think? But I think it really boils down the games that the Wii has to offer. I know I can't play games like Bioshock, Gears, Mass Effect, Oblivion, Final Fantasy(sorry, I don't count CC), Lost Odyssey, MGS4, Killzone 2, Fallout 3, Borderlands and Fable 2 etc etc... on the Wii, so why would I want one?

RE 4 isn't even in the same league and I'm sorry but as much as my children love Smash Brothers, and as much as I enjoy getting my butt handed to me while playing that with them, it's not even a game I'd buy for myself. So what else is there? What can I play on the Wii that I can't play on the Game Cube? Which brings me to the clones you mentioned...

I think you're completely off in saying the 360 and PS3 offer nothing but clones of last generation though. So far, both systems have done some really great innovative things in games... You know, like that time you were blown away by that dragon in Zelda? ...Things that make you say "Wow!" or "That was kewl!".

I still don't own a Wii because it doesn't have the games I like and the idea of being active, flapping my arms around doesn't seem all that attractive to me. I play games to relax after a hard day at work. If anyone is doing cloning around here, it's been Nintendo from the NES through to the Wii. How many iterations of Mario are there? Zelda? Metroid? Unless 3rd party developers start releasing some solid non-party games and Nintendo starts to be that which they claim to be, innovative, then the Wii will never be right for me.

yup. Clip recorder too.

Considering the SSBM didn't even have online I'd say it's a huge addition...even if it isn't as good as live or PSN

If it's the only console you have then your just a gamer with a poor slection of games. But a gamer noe the less I guess.

You shouldnt beleive console is good simply because of potential though. The Wii has some great potentioal, but it hasn't realized hardly any of it, and thats why the Wii really isn't that good a platforms at all.

What do you mean it's a joke...you can get online and you can play online. What makes it a joke??? It's there and it works! Oh and by the way you can record your gameplay...instead of hating on a great system why not just play it and see for yourself that it truely is worth having and IT DOES have several great games on it.

1080p =/= great gaming....

Oh and back to the main topic of this thread...if you bought a game system, you buy and play games on it then you are a gamer. Level of fanaticism varies.

[QUOTE="JetLagz28"]Screw what these people say. I've grown up gaming, Iv'e been playing shooters since Wolfenstien. It's just a bunch of nerds who are trying to feel good about themselves and their hobby. I own 13 consoles, the only one from the new gen is a Wii. YOU AND I are REAL gamers, more so then these loosers who only want to play the newest FPS on 1080i. Fanboy_Slay3R

First of all, he owns 13 consoles and he want's to call us nerds. Does the son of the owner of nintndo even own 13 consoles? We want to play in 1080p so we pay for it and we get REAL NEXTGEN games. Not the same 2d side scrollers/minigames/virtual pet/ all that stuff you guys get. We get real 3d games and they're hardcore and fun.

If you ever owned an extreme gaming rig, just the feeling of owning it alone feels wonderful. You customized it yourself and you bought all the parts and put it together to create this wonderful box of power. It's awesome and it beats owning 20 2d consoles. I mean seriously I was playing a game on my PSP(I'll give you a clue, it wasn't made for the PSP) and I was trying to compare the graphics on it with the DS and It felt like it looked the same, even if the game came out like 10 years ago. So we have the right to say that because we paid real money for out stuff. You sheep are complaianing about being called "not real gamers", because you actually beliebe you're winning the war cause your console is the cheapest and it's outselling the other consoles, even if it has the worst library???? That's ridiculous. Really, ridiculous. You wish the Wii supported 1080i, but what's the point. It's just going to get mario in high defintion. Let me guess...Mario Bike racer X?...I bet you sheep would love a game like that uh?

I NEVER said I was not a nerd. I am a nerd. Apparently, your overpriced gaming rig makes you "cool"?

You know nothing about me besides what I said in that post.

You are not a real gamer.

This is ridiculous, because it's all a matter of opinion. I can honestly say that there are over twice as many Wii games that interest me as 360 and PS3 games combined.

For me too. It's not hard to understand.
The games on 360 and ps3 look dull to me. Are they dull? No, of course not. They are what You make of it.
So why do i make them dull, and why do You make the wii's selection of games poor? It's because we're simple stupid shortsighted stubborn scallywags who think we deserve better than what we have.

It's just a shame if You settle for less fun cause there's little else on the system. Ow come on there's more to fun than the wii You know. Didn't You have a 360 too? Really i think it's best to wait it out until You really feel like playing it again. Well, that's my experience anyway.

I have a PS2 and a Laptop capable of playing the less shiny versions of anyting available on the 360 or PS3.

Like I said, everything this generation so far seems to be just a graphics upgrade of what the last generation did. That or the game is already available on the PC.

Apparently being frugal or looking for new gaming experiences makes me less of a gamer too.

Give this man an internet

Why? He is wrong. I don't reward those that are wrong. WTF do you think Motorstorm, Uncharted, and Resistance are just to name a few? New IPs, that's what they are. Something you can't play on last gen systems. Sorry, but no reward given and points taken away for giving the wrong answer.

Wii is aimed at kids. Always has been. Deny it all you want, I could care less. I've been there since day one with Nintendo and I've seen it all come through. While other's have catered to the older, "hardcore" crowd, Nintendo has always stuck to their guns (or lack there of).

So, to me and a lot of gamers, someone who buys a Wii and a Wii only looks like a **** (and it isn't a cussword). Look at the main charaters that Nintendo is famous for. All are cartoony and have that look that most children-based images do.

Are we going to deny that there are things that look like its for kids and that there aren't? Absolutely there are. Look at anything marketed towards kids. They are bubbly, cartoony, bright colored (usually the primary colors), and unmistakble for anything else.

The games on the Wii (the first party ones, because we all know which way to go for 99% of the third parties) have the kid look. Its undeniable. And for a 18+ male to solely like that look in games, is odd, rare, and ****y. This is why the Wii-owmers are called casual.

I'll admit, this may be more of a U.S. culture thing.

The_Dan_K

wow this is kind of pathetic. A game being kid friendly is not a bad thing.

I can give you one example of something that is totally aimed at kids, yet is a huge success around the world and loved by people of all ages: Harry Potter.

Heres another: Disney Movies
Oh, another: Pixar Animated Films.

im 18 years old. I love mario games, i love movies like aladdin, the little mermaid, jungle book, the incredibles, cars, ratatouille and toy story.

so laugh at me all you want, the thing is, something aimed at kids isnt necessarily a bad thing, and they can be enjoyed by a wide audience.

sometimes people really need to get past this whole 'kiddy' image thing.

nah, those fools or elitists who say Wii is casual are in denail. Its so funny that 70% of PS2's gamers are casual. 360's gamers are all hardcore thats why the sales have become stagnant

The_Dan_K

As a kid I used to play violent games also, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Doom, Quake etc.

Violent games are aimed towards teens/pubers. Games like Resident Evi, Alan Wake, Gears of War or any other Horror genre game where you chop of head of monsters and zombies are aimed towards childeren. You're not tough, gangstah, macho or bad-ass because you play M rated games.

Nintendo aimes towards the adult gamer who play games the way its meant to be played, to have fun.

Yeah, I find it interesting how I played the most hardcore games of the past few generations ranging from Psychonauts to Killer 7 to Eternal Darkness to Okami, yet somehow, but enjoying Wii games, I've instantly lost all credibility as a gamer. Of course I own a 360, but unlike most, it acts as my secondary console.

Fanboy_Slay3R

Thats the straightforward truth. You sheep could deny it all you want, but it is true. Nintendo is more appealing to casuals and kids. I don't care how much you want to deny it. Just do me a quick favor and go to th wii/ds tab on GS, then come back and tell me what you saw. I mean it doesnt make any sense to me. I don't see how it's possible to like all those games. It's just gross to me.

I think the comment about US Culture and the fact that Fanboy_Slay3r here has Raiden as his avitar is rather Ironic.

Most of you guys are ignoring a crucial aspect of what I mentioned in my first post. It isn't that I would rather play Nintendo games, I wouldn't. I just happen to like Smash Bros as a Multiplayer game.

There is a good possibility that I'll end up getting a PS3 depending on how good MGS4, Resident Evil 5, and Final Fantasy 13 turn out to be. However, at the moment, there is nothing out that introduces anything new, nothing that provides a unique enough storyline experience, and nothing that would be long lasting enough to justify buying a new platform for such a high cost. I feel like I can get the same experiences with my PS2 still; so why get the next generation console?

[QUOTE="too_much_eslim"]if it is the only system you own I feel sorry for you.Heydanbud92

U sure about that???

Name some games you would consider providing at least one of these two things:

A unique and fun gameplay experience that is long lasting as a result

A storyline amazing enough that you could play through the game again for it multiple times and still enjoy it.

I can almost gaurentee that I can either point out that it's already on the PC, or that there is an at least equal option on a previous console already available to me.

Now, I'm not saying that I'm not at least interested in Dead Rising and... actually just Dead Rising so far off the top of my head - it just doesn't seem like it's worth owning the whole console for a game that I KNOW is just a novelty in the long run.

To the OP...

I don't think it matters which system(s) you own as none of them grant you the title of "gamer". If it makes you happy, who cares what other people think?

Terami

I mostly find it ironic that someone who has been playing since the practically the beginning of gaming culture is suddenly not a gamer by popular opinion. Honestly, if I'm not a gamer, that's fine, in fact I'd rather not be associated with most of the stereotypes that come with that title.

And I mentioned before in this thread (Not in the OP) that I wouldn't even own a Wii if it weren't for my wife wanting one; but being able to play online with my old Smash Bros buddies while being 800 miles away is pretty dang nice.

But getting the system for just that one game probably wouldn't have been worth it if there wasn't at least one other person in my household who would use it for other things.

I love my Wii. PS3 nor 360 has anything to offer me so far this generation apart from the *REHASHES* which has annoyed me quite alot. People will call you a Non-gamer, Casual, Noob and so forth but this is mainly people who have bias views or children who are fanboys. These people are roughly around Teenage age and have only played 1 or 2 generations but constantly think they know right.

If your on here your a gamer as your on a gaming website discussing about game related issues. If anyone else says differant just ignore the idiots

You been playing games for longer than i and i've been playing Games since Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Street Fighter, Streets of Rage, Shinobi era of the 90's on the Mega Drive. I will probaly get called a none-gamer aswell as i'm actually contemplating making this the 1st time i dont have a secondry console. I've owned Mega Drive, Amiga 600, PS1, PS2, Snes, N64, GameCube, GameBoy colour, GameBoy Advance and GameBoy DS but i still get called a Non-gamer!!

I think its fairly obvious your a gamer. A person whos been playing games since the NES is more of a gamer than someone who's got a 360 and thinks he's massive just because he plays "teh cool" games.

Do some of the posters know what Space Quest and Monkey Island were?

TC you like point and click adventures i take it have you tried Zack and Wiki?

bf2nutta

I haven't played it.

I've heard mixed reviews - I don't think it would be as good as those old games.

One of these days though, I'll probably try it.

None of the consoles are 'hardcore' (God I hate that word). They are all casual, that's the point of consoles.

wow this is kind of pathetic.

Dude, I have quite the collection of animated movies. i love Pixar.

But guess what, i can love those because I also have 007, The Departed, Braveheart, etc. If I was stuck watching children-directed films, I would go nuts.

That's why I like the PS3. It gives me the "kiddy" stuff when i want/need it. But I also get the HD, adult oriented content.

That's my point. Wii, essentially, gives you one side. And what they give you on the adult side are just crappier versions of what the PS3 and 360 have.

Alright, people.

If you want to claim that anyone who owns a gaming system is a gamer, fine. Grandma is a gamer.

But if you are 18+ male and you only own a Wii and your collection consists of brightly colored kid-ware (SMG, SSBB, Zelda) and nothing adult-aimed, you are a ****. You are not the norm. You never will be.
