Now what kind of logic is that?  He didn't build the console did he?  No, Microsoft did.  They built a console that fails 33% of the time, not him.

CosmicSavant

Link to this source reporting a 33% fail rate. And please, don't tell me it's the "anonymous former retailer" one...

Good thing I never stated I had the degree. I'm in the process of making an attempt to obtain in. Reading comprehension, it does the body good. ^^Verge_6

Making an assumption isn't a lack of reading comprehension thereof. In fact, it shows an understand of the text.  And my assumption is correct, unless you plan on not fulfilling your minor.

"The consumer is always right." No, no, no, a thousand times no. That is an outmoded, outdated saying.business model that should have died with the 1950's.Verge

Bill Gates said it earlier this year when he was crapping on Vista.

Again, reading comprehension is goooooood. Nowhere was I defending Microsoft's QC.Verge

The irony here is that reading comprehension entails many things like assuming. ;)

That wasn't even part of the original bloody topic for Christ's sakes.Verge

Neither was your response about your business minor.

I don't typically provide links since I don't feel discussing anything on a forum, especially a gaming forum, is worth the effort to source, but I'll do it anyway.

1) And you failed to understand the text

2) Then Bill Gates is wrong

3) And you are assuming very, very wrongly

4) You're right, but it seems you missed the entire point of my posting of it.

I trust you meant to link this, which, surprise surprise, contains splendid little things like "anecdotal evidence" and "anonymous employee".

Not really.  Making an assumption doesn't show lack of comprehension, but I think you knew that already.

2) Then Bill Gates is wrongVerge

Says Verge, who I've never heard of.

'Assumed' is the correct tense.

I don't think theres anything wrong with the machine other than it isn't idiot proofed enough.

You left it on too long running 3d graphics and melted the insides, twice. It was probably bumped around covered in dust and not ventilated. People in this thread have had one since release, not broken.

Which doesn't hinder my point at all; in fact, it reinforces it.  'Anecdotal evidence' and 'anonymity' are typical of evidence especially high level cases like murder (OJ Simpson Trial) and theft(Exonn). ;)

Eh?

I leave my PC on all the time and it's never crapped out on me.  It's also five years old. ;)  I have a PS2 that has lasted since 2002, and I've played that sucker a lot.

And your last sentence is ridiculous.  Plenty of people have lost their 360s to the RROD.

Petty grammar and definition tripe aside, and to bring this back on topic, if Bill Gates saying it makes it right, then why do you not believe his company's claims of the 360 having a failure rate of, quote, "Five to six percent"? You seem to have no trouble putting such undoubtedly prominent sources like "EB games employee" and "former anonymous Best Buy retail worker" over his word here. Interesting double-standard...

Dear Lord, are you pariah_001? :lol:CosmicSavant

I see you're incapable of answering the question then. . .moving on. *yawn*

What question? You made a statement that baseless sources are surefire proof of the 360's failure rate. You really are him, or his long-lost brother with an identical mindset. Anyone with a shred of common sense would know that;

1) Retail workers aren't let in on billion-dollar corporation's product sales/defect data.

2) These anonymous workers are basing their finds on THEIR own personal experiences.

3)The few amount of anonymous sources with their anecdotal experiences can hardly be sufficient to come to the conclusion that the failure rate is, without a doubt, 33%.

If you don't see why using that as a legitimate source is laughable, then I can only express my wonder and awe. If you had, say, a source that could say he had access to Microsoft corporate data, or someone who worked for the shipping firm that sent out their boxes, then you might have something. But you don't. You have anonymous retail employees.

With this logic, you'd have to be part of the Bush administration to say that hes committed five impeachable crimes.

If you're 'retorts' are going to consist entirely of 'strawman' statements and horrid comparisons to political and law situations, then I really don't want to waste my time more than I already have.

[QUOTE="iamthetruth55"][QUOTE="tempest91"]

I work 25 hours a week, and take 18 credit hours as a science major. I have no time to be going to a store spending MY hard earned money on a box and padding for it. I mostly only use my xbox 360 for movies anyway when i actually have some free time. This has been such an inconvenience. And i am still not even done with them. I am still trying to get them to send me a box over the phone, but they constantly need to talk to a supervisor, and the other night i called after class before they closed and they had no supervisor!!! so now i am have to call back again!!iamthetruth55

For every person whining about the RROD, there are ten more who enjoy their 360 without any problems.  Sorry for your luck.

I don't think it has anything to do with luck, more so the xbox 360 wasn't designed well. My friends xbox 360 has gone through it's 3rd repair recently.

yes, and, aside from me, my friends are playing their launch consoles without issue. the RROD is a problem, but its been way over-exaggerrated.

Too many people like to whine and complain in order to get attention, that's why they post here saying things that we've heard here over 10,000 times now.

If you don't like your Xbox 360 anymore, then get a PS3. Nobody is going to care.

I have not received RROD yet, but if I do in the future you won't see me on internet message boards whining and moaning about it. I'll just be happy that it's still covered by Microsoft and I'll just get it fixed. I won't care. I like the 360 for its software.

I will 100% agree the RRoD is unacceptable.

However, I find it odd that people have such trouble dealing with this issue.  I got the RRoD on a Sunday morning, around the 4th of July.  I logged onto xbox.com.  Went to support, reported the problem online, and never spoke to a single person.  I received a box, shipping label, packing material and even tape first thing Tuesday morning.  I dropped it in the mail that aftenoon.  Microsoft received it on Friday morning, in TX I believe, and had it processed, "repaired" and in the mail by the afternoon.  I received it Tuesday.  6 business day I was without my xbox.  A free month of Live (whoopie).

RRoD is crazy bad for MS, but at least, for me, they have taken care of me.  Just tossing in my experience.

snackdaddy
i don't get it either. i'm on my second xbox. i bought insurance from gamestop for when i bought my xbox. i think theychanged it because the guy told me they would ship it out blah blah.i told them the person sold me insurance said i can get a new one form them.

I just want to say one thing, majority of companies DO NOT SEND YOU A BOX FOR YOUR ITEM! MS offers a extra free service by giving you a box and shipping label, there aren't a lot of companies that will do that under manufacture warranty. They will cover the shipment back to your house but will not cover the shipment from your house to the service center.

And your alternative is what ? The 2 PS3 models on the market are just as faulty if not more, and the Wii is a magnet for shovelware.

I suggest you just ride out the 360 repair or replacement and stick with it, because it's still the best system on the market all around.
