I am getting a PS3, what should i get with it ? Or should i wait ?

Finally i have decided on a PS3 !!!! The BS + Drake + Lair convinced me finally :)

Can't wait to finish FF10 again in its full 720p glory

Some questions

1. Should i waitg for a price drop, or would it be in vain ? I would be interested in 100$ lower, but i guess that would nto happen

2. Do i need to get a HDMI cable ? Is component better in colors ?

3. Should i get Motorstorm over Rersiatance or the other way ?

4. Will games upscale in 720p too for 720p only tv's ?

5. When will drake be released ?

1. Id say get it now

2. If you only have 720p than i dont think it makes a difference so id go with component

3. Id say Resistance. Motorstorm is really fun and the only PS3 game i have but ive rented Resistance a few times and im going to buy it.

i doubt they will drop the price anytime soon but anything is possible.

hdmi is only needed for 1080p hdtvs, if your tv accepts the latest version of hdmi i so go for it.

it depends have you played the demos of them which do you like best?

yeah games upscale to 720p.

uncharted is coming this year but no release date is confirmed though.

I think you should wait for E3.

I bought it at the highest price because I support Sony, but then I realized most of it goes to the retailer so meh.

Awww Greg. I'm proud of you! I shall answer your questions to my fullest.

1) Concidering console history. Price drops don't happen for 2 years. But if you had to wait, wait till Augest.

2) Yes. HDMI cable is a must with the full range option with the new patch that released. A -must-.

3) Tough to say. If you wait till Augest, then you'll have much more options to choose from. But if you buy now, I say get Motorstorm.

4) I have a 720p tv. If you're talking about PS1/PS2 and DVD's, yes. It upscales into that resolution. It's not just 1080p. It states in the release notes that it scales "up to" 1080p.

5) No clue. This year is all I can say.

Just keep in mind Greg. The PS2 games do look better with the upscale option. But not all. With HDTV's before the update, it was jagfest from hell. No joke. With the update, the jags are smoothed out and the game looks good once again on a HDTV. FFXII is another great example. There's pics all over the internet to prove so as well. Good luck on your choice though! It's good to be a PS360 owner!

I already have 360 and that GARBAGE Wii, i wish i never had bought, i am getting a PS3 NOW because i want to play FF10 high res mainly for now, i am not really interested in any games until Drake and maybe Lair, but Lair is not a game to buy full price, so mainly it is FF10 HD and Drake that i want it for, as i play FF10 right now, and on my HDTV looks awafull, better than FF12 but still in HD would be cool

BTW - If you haven't played SoTC or have, playing it upscaled. -Godlike-. The game runs much more smoother and it doesn't feel so clunky with some of the bigger clossi you battle. Truely a great game to play.

lol, well get used to the buyers remorse. want to buy mine? it's a grade A dust collector, barely used - launch 60 gig, bought to sell but the prices on ebay kept dropping... and dropping. if you can beat what my local indie retailer is offering me it's yours ;)

im not interested in either, beat NG on xbox 1 and my god it was so hard i'd never want to try again, i don't care how much prettier it is. and R&C i really like the look of, but it's been confirmed there's no multiplayer :( seriously, lair is all that's coming up for PS3... god it better be good.

Resistance is pretty great looking. and ive experienced 0 lag online even with all 40 playershustler_151

multi is kinda ass though, lots of cheaters, play is too fast and loose... on top of that there's no cover button, just lame crouch.

But Lair isn't multiplayer either. You'll give in. I know you will with other games like Heavenly Sword and R&C. It happens to gamers alllllll the time. They get curious and bam! They may or may not like the game.

yeah ;) and the glass breaking physics are the best i've seen in any game ;) i think im more of a 'tactical shooter' fan though, probably why i don't 'love' resistance.'

edit: R6: Vegas implements the cover system better than Gears IMO, but i know what ya mean.

yeah, pretty much. im not a big halo fan either -- looks like we have pretty similar shooter tastes ;) i pretty much just play halo each time a new one comes out to see what all the hype is about. sometimes i play with my cousin, but it's really not a franchise i'd even put in my top 10.

well you've got forza and shadowrun this month if you have a 360 - according to GS.

Resistance single player is balls. it's like call of duty 2 with an alien twist and less drama. the weapons are neat but i really didn't feel compelled to finish the game at all. i got to a point where i was like -- wait, i've been going through the motions for 2 hours, nothing feels new, might as well be playing Call of Duty of something.

it's decent as an arcade shooter, but don't expect much more than that from the plot or gameplay.

Yea halo isnt really that great but what makes it great is how many people play it.  Resistance has a good amount of people playing as well, but it seems to offer some better variants in my opinion.  Though there is no cover commands, Insomniac did a good job of making cover across the multiplayer battle fields.  Bushes provide great stealth, and there are plenty of objects to take cover with the crouch button.  I like the button lay out better as well...all in all I think it's better than halo, but I can't wait to pick up rainbow six vegas.

2. You can get an HDMI cable for like five bucks. Don't get Monster Cable or any other overpriced ****.

3. Again, wait until good games start coming out. If you're really set on getting one now, go with whichever genre you like more.
