i am going to buy the game i am just asking a questionTnasty11
well forgive us if we find ur question illogical.
WRPGs usually have guns, its an RPG, there is no such thing as SRPG's (swordRPG), ur a FF fan no? i dont think so since in FFVIII squalls weapon is a gunsword... GUN SWORD.....GUN GUN GUN GUN SWORD
*sigh*
RPG is a ROLE-PLAYING GAME.
That means (supposedly), you either create a role or get given one and you get choice as to how to play said role and play through important events in their life.
The weapon they use is irrelevant, the RPG in RPG is about choosing paths for your character and playing a role how you want to.
Sadly, many Japanese so-called RPG's abandoned this in favour of "Turn-based action games with swords with some features that RPG's often use." and now everyone thinks that's an RPG, but it's not really.
RPG's commonly feature levelling up, stats, parties, and the like. However, none of that is NECESSARY for it to be an RPG. The only thing RPG needs is choosing how to play a role and an emphasis on story.
[QUOTE="onewiththegame"]KOTOR has "guns" and it won many RPG of the year awardsTnasty11i never played KOTOR

do you not like RPG's?
its true that most rpgs use swords but an rpgis a game where you level up the characters, weapons have nothing to do to what makes an rpg. Look at pokemon for the gameboy, they dont have any swords, so basically you can use guns on an rpg.
Another thing that bothers me about JRPGs. Swords are vastly more powerful than guns, and the protagonist will ALWAYS weild one, usually a sword that would be impossible for even Zhengi to weild. And yet, he STILL slices through those gun-toting badies like nothing. It boggles the mind.Verge_6Only in a fantasy world can you take a sword to a gun fight and come out alive.

i mostly play jrpg the only wrpg i ever played was oblivionSQUALL........SQUALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, oh and the fact that u have a FF avatar and sig made me have to sig u
what a stupid question. rpgmeans role playing game. rpg doesn't dictate what kinds of weapons can be used in the game. weapons can be whatever devs want them to be.

When you really think about.. Arent most games rpgs?
Because most the time you are playing the main charcter.
Yes, just because Shepard doesn't use an oversized sword and magic summons doesn't mean that the game isn't an RPG.cyborgjak427
I see your point but you can summon magic in Mass Effect.
