I buy Game Consoles for the Hardware Specs!

I am one who is a tech savvy type of nerd, launch titles don't impress me but what impresses me is technical specifications of said console. I get excited when I hear about how much memory it has (8 gigs for the new consoles!) or reading about how powerful the new GPU cores are going to be compared to previous gen. Personally i'll buy a Sony Playstation 4 because it has the greater technology and can handle more GPU/CPU intensive tasks, if the dashboard were to ever be used like a desktop or a tablet phone the extra memory and processing power would make this on par with mid-range PCs which is astonishingly amazing for its price value. Launch titles are not a concern, nor should it be for any of you. What should be a concern is the power technological advances VS. price...and PS4 is a better value. Granted Xbox does have better launch titles it seems but that does not matter to me. Who else agrees?

I buy game consoles for games thats why am going with PS4, since Sony always delivers great exclusives and keeps supporting their consoles properly till the end..

This sarcasm tells me that you are pretty shortsighted. Both of these companies are proven. Both consoles will get games, LOTS OF THEM. That isn't a concern at this point. Better hardware equals a better canvas for developers to paint on longterm. When developers have better tools to work with they can create more amazing experiences for you and I. That's why people care about specs.

Is that an argument for the value of kinect? as i feel like bundling kinect gives devs a much wider array of options vs a mild increase in processing.

This ^ ^ ^ I'll be playing the games. I could care less about specs, because they usually end up being meaningless in the long haul. PS3 was suppose to be more powerful, yet the XBox 360 was able to match and at times outperform in with multiplats time and time again. So all this talk about the power of the PS4 ain't going to make a bit of difference really. The original Xbox was more powerful then the PS2. Did it make a big difference? Nope.

I do not agree.

You definitely have your right to your opinion, so it that's what you prefer then more power to you. For me, gaming is about the games. Plain and simple. And also as Reggie recently so eloquently and accuarately put it, it's about the experience. So those are the most important factors to me. Don't get me wrong, I'm 33 and started gaming on the Atari 2600 and have lived through all of the generation switches and technical evolutions the industry has ever effectively had. So I of course appreciate and desire powerful machines and appealing graphics. But to me that means more than just "it's the prettiest thing on the market, look at how realistic everything looks, omg there are so many polygons". And still those kinds of things pale in comparison to having great games to play because the games play great.

To me, Game Quality will forever trump all things.

I thought this was a troll thread.  It's sadly not.  I'd say that would surprise me but this is SW. Hey OP, enjoy bragging about those "specs" in 5 years when that midrange GPU from 2012 is outclassed by a factor of 10.  Oh yeah..then you will just say "how much value those specs have"..How tricky and unique.

If you were "mainstream gamer" you got a SNES and/or Genesis and if you were "hardcore gamer" you got a Neo-Geo. ;)

So shouldn't you NOT be buying a console at all? the cpu is built for low power environments and will be appearing in ultrabooks and the gpu is low-mid tier at best. This 8GB RAMZZZZ XDXD that sony seems to have a patent on is absolutely meaningless if the rest of the system sucks. Hope you enjoy your sub-par system which is running everything at 720p, the 1080p promise has been broken yet again. Wii U PC is the way to go this generation.
