Gaming on pc vs a console is just better on multiplats if telling the truth makes you an elitist so be it. If saying that the pc has the most AAA and AA games by a huge margin makes you an elitist so be it. If I say pc has the best onling gaming experience does that make me an elitist. If I say pc's mod support makes games on pc last far beyond games on console does that make me an elitist. If saying pc lets you use the best pad/wheel/kbam combo you get the idea.

I could go on and on but telling the facts hardly makes me an elitist unless consolites are jelly.

Not everyone likes gaming on PC, I don't.

But ya know, it's just different strokes.

I'm not a big fan of KB+M control either. Like others, chalk if up to growing up with a console controller in my hands. I remember my first PC FPS experience, Unreal Tournament on a buddy's LAN setup over a decade ago, and I got completely smoked. KB+M was, and always has been, awkward for me. I don't really play many fast-twitch games on the PC anyway...I don't get into FPS games anymore.

As far as virus issues, I've never gotten anything that malware bytes couldn't handle. I also don't download much and the most questionable internet behavior in which I engage is watching MMA PPV events on streaming sites. Hell, I probably haven't had any malware in 3 or 4 years.

The mouse is much more precise than an analog stick, and like some console games out there, you can adjust the sensitivity to your liking. Some people have it crazy sensitive, but I can't do that and enjoy what I'm doing. I usually keep my sensitivity a little higher than midrange - enough for me to do a 180 degree turn moving my mouse from the center to the edge of my mousepad.

I prefer some games with controllers, though. Deus Ex: Human Revolution(original) is a recent example I can give you. I got it on PC and hated the controls. Even if I mapped them to something else on the keyboard/mouse, it didn't help. I got the Director's Cut on Wii U, and it feels like a better fit. Yes, I could have got a controller for my PC, but I wanted the Gamepad functionality.

To me, the first things to make an FPS game appear realistic is to:

1. Not have crosshairs onscreen

2. No HUD - that means no ammo counter, no magical radar telling me where enemies are, no indicators telling me how much 'life" I have left.

.....especially in a historical or modern warfare setting.

All FPS games should have the option to have no overlay on the screen whatsoever or at least turn them off.

I agree with everything other than the health bar but it did get me to think. I mean we dont have a health bar in real life and we surely know when we are in pain. So they could just make it really hard to move, or change the vision etc.

good ideas.

Infinity Ward had the same ideas 10 years ago.

One can have bias and preference and not be a mindless fanboy. He is trying to say that there are only two kinds of gamers: fanboys and opinionless manticores who love everything equally.

It's deluded. Of course he likes certain games and systems more than another. He wouldn't be human if he didn't.

I was speaking of specifically of health. COD has no health bar and the screen gets red when you take damage.

Hardcore mode has no crosshair.

No crosshairs is a bad idea for mp. Reason is some players will put a little sticker on the middle of their screen to use as a crosshair.

If a game has no ammo counter then you should be able to remove mag and check. For me though, no ammo counter is a feature that makes the game more of a chore.

I don't agree that he has to like certain systems more. Games yes. But one can like the systems equally....you might find more games to your liking on one over the others...but that doesn't inherently mean he doesn't like the systems equally. What makes a system is the games. Without games they are just a plastic paperweight.

I like my PS3 more than my Wii and 360 because it plays more of the games I want to play (multiplats) has Netflix in HD and allows me to play online for free. But which of the three company's first parties do I dislike the most? It isn't Nintendo's or Microsoft's. I actually enjoy their games. I can't stand the vast majority of Sony's offerings, yet I prefer their console to the others.

Everyone has platform preferences as well. It might even be as simple as "this one has a more comfortable controller". And gaming "consoles" these days are more than just games, they have become significant entertainment devices that offer services well beyond just games.

Eh well that's you. I buy games for all my consoles on the three...even though I could buy some for only the one. Just depends on the series and where I first bought the game. GTA, Prince of Persian, and Assassin's Creed are always on the 360. The Arkham series on PS3. I do like the Netflix on Sony. As for first party.....I would pick Sony over MS and I think Nintendo as well. But I have fun with all my consoles. Each one brings me games. Though with this current gen...and the fact that I'm building a gaming PC....I do wonder if the X1 will be worth buying.

Ok, The usual arguments of pricing, hardware not able to run certain games without upgrading and constant viral attacks even if you have antivirus. Take all those and chuck them out the window.

I just watched PC footage of Battlefield 4 because i wanted to see the building and dam collapse. Most PC elitists rave about mouse and keyboard controls. I was watching the guy play and the screen was jerking back and forth so quickly that I almost got dizzy.

Sure, the mouse gives players the ability to turn and see enemies far quicker than a controller can, but you loose any sense of realistic movement.

I'd personally rather have realistic movement than jerky quick turns. Yes, I'm well aware you can turn the sensitivity down but isn't that quick move the edge you PC players are always bragging about?

Let me check something...

OK I just made a 360 degree turn in less than half a second.

How the hell is that unrealistic? Are you some sort of robot who needs to be lubricated daily with the best oil in the market in order to move your limbs fluidly?

Also lol @ "constant virus attacks", last virus I got was like 3 years ago and I got it because I had no anti virus.

Yes, people can be quick, but not that quick. Due to that the game looses its immersion for me.

I think you should visit a shooting range to get a feel on real guns before making comments like this one...

Guns aren't the lightest of things to carry but you can certainly make a 180% degrees turn with one in less than a second, unless you are heavily disabled.

And you don't lose sense of reality by moving like a tank? you think it takes 4 seconds to turn around with a gun in real life?

Yes you can turn quickly. That doesn't mean if you squeeze off a shot it will be accurate though.

All FPS games should have the option to have no overlay on the screen whatsoever or at least turn them off.

HUD is integrated in the nanosuit though, and you also don't have a health meter (at least in C2 and C3), so I don't really see how HUD on Crysis breaks realism, not to mention the game is about a guy with a suit that gives him the strenght of 20 elephants and the ability to survive multiple tank shells, grenades, rockets, heavy caliber bullets and energy attacks, all while there a bunch of aliens dropping from the sky.

Eh some people like gaming on a PC....not sure why that equals elite. Just a different approach. Personally I do prefer consoles. But I am building a gaming PC. Probably use a controller though. Really don't like keyboard and mouse for games.

No you won't. Start playing with M&K for a while. PC controls are the reason I can't enjoy my PS4. The controls alone are the reason why PC is better. IMO.

I have used the M&K....I don't like it. I don't expect that to change. I do like controllers.

Well, I guess I was wrong. I didn't like playing on M&K at first, but got used to it. Then started to just realize how much better I am as a gamer on M&K, and how much more control I have over games. I still love playing on the controller, but not when it comes to competitive gaming, like FPS.

I don't get PC elitists because they can't deal with the fact that people enjoy playing console games way more than PC games.

They're elitists... that applies in the reverse as well. There's plenty of console gamers who don't understand ("can't deal with the fact") why people play games on PC

Well I don't play the FPS genre much so I really can't say. I have some....never got much into them.

@Telekill: You sure

You guys are not getting what I'm saying... especially you @Maddie_Larkin:

I'm saying that with the jerky god like speeds that you can turn a 180° or even a 360° that in reality, a person can't and doesn't move like that.

Yes, people can be quick, but not that quick. Due to that the game looses its immersion for me.

You sure it wasn't the 25-30 fps and the general blur and jagginess that kills your immersion?

in terms of multiplayer you will be at a great disadvantage no matter how good you are, but if that isn;t a factor then there is no problem.

tc the speed and accuracy with which humans can adjust their gaze is pretty rapid. check out human eye physiology on wikipedia.

neither the mouse/keyboard nor the controller is going to model reality perfectly. but one thing is for sure - the controller cripples situational awareness, at least the mouse lets you check your corners quick and shit.

What happened to those ideas? If those ideas were implemented, I'd be delighted.

Red Orchestra 2 / Rising Storm does it best, even if you put a sticker in the middle of the screen, you are just inaccurate no matter what.

That's unrealistic. It's completely possible to become accurate at hip firing with some practice.

Its actually kinda true, I never noticed it when primarily PC gaming but nowadays when playing a PC game it does feel a little strange and less immersive being able to snap the camera so fast.... and while yea people have the ability to constantly snap their head around like a chicken I certainly dont, and dont know anyone that does. Controllers definitely mimic a more natural motion imo.

That being said, immersion really only makes a difference in single player story driven games, imo... and even then it will usually stop bugging me within an hour or two.

Sure, keep telling yourself that.

Meanwhile I'll continue love being a manticore for the past 14 years and counting.

I'd rather be content in knowing I have bias and preference than lying to myself about being of no substantial opinion.

Or maybe he's appreciating what each system has to offer and his ability to play anything he wants rather than worship some brand name and justify his purchase.

One can have bias and preference and not be a mindless fanboy. He is trying to say that there are only two kinds of gamers: fanboys and opinionless manticores who love everything equally.

It's deluded. Of course he likes certain games and systems more than another. He wouldn't be human if he didn't.

I think you're slowly having no idea what a manticore is, but again this is all coming from you. A manticore is someone who supports Sony,Nintendo, MS and to an extent PC (I guess you might be able to put this into the MS group in a way or just put it as PC). I know everyone of those companies have their pros and their cons, supporting one over the other is natural and a given like for example I prefer Sony (console) = Nintendo (HH) and PC gaming over the others. It's just like my personal taste of blondes and red heads > everything else which someone elses could be brunettes and dark haired > everything and lets be honest we always don't end up getting exactly what we like as our number 1 choice cause of numerous possibilities and outcomes can happen. Which brings the end out come to take whatcha can get, if I can "end up with any of those i'll be happy" cause let's face it, I'd love to be driving a 1966 Pontiac GTO, but am I driving a 1966 GTO? no I'm driving a 2011 Ford Focus. There's always gonna be some stuff we prefer over others women, games, cars ect ect but lets face it, we will always enjoy more than 1 of those things in life.

I don't hate any of those groups to the point "I'd never buy from them" or dislike them to the point of bashing them, it's irrelevant and pointless, not to mention MS, Sony ect ect all have some good games and consoles/systems so like I said it's hard to justify not supporting pretty much all of those companies. Sure people will like a company or two more than the others but there are people who actually like ALL OF THEM aka Manticores.

I game on pc and use a controller whenever I can. On shooters you just have a huge disadvantage. Besides, movement is the least of your worries if you go for realism in games.

I never liked the argument of you cant complain about realism because a game isnt realistic in general.

For instance lets say in mass effect 3 you spend the whole game gearing up to fight the reapers, at the end nothing is working, all hope seems lost. Then commander shepard says "Wait a second! I just remember im carrying a kill all reapers button given to me as a kid by a magic wizard, I never thought to use it, maybe i should try pressing it?" He presses it, all the reapers die, the universe is saved.

I think you would have to right to ask why commander shepard had a kill all reapers button in his pocket the entire game, but never thought once to use it (let alone the whole wizard angle)... and complain about how unrealistic that is despite the fact its set in a fantasy world populated by aliens.

Just because games in general arent realistic doesnt mean you cant legitimately complain about certain aspects being unrealistic.
