so are you saying that the 360 will sell more than the wii now that it is $199?

*edit* damn, you deleted your post

the original post said something like "Simple enough - $250"

Among the other reasons mentioned in this thread already, it's important to note that the Wii was the cheapest system from launch until just this month.Mike1978Smith

Very good point! That's why their hardware sold like pancakes! With syrup!

I think it'll sell more due to it's current pricetag, but not as much as Wii.

Wii apeals to a larger audience plus Nintendo has a larger fanbase.

pretty much

i believe nintendo sold the most because they built their console from the ground up to have mainstream appeal

from the user interface to the console's aesthetic design, it was built to appeal to those who previously were not into gaming. the 360 and the ps3 simply weren't built like that. they'll never have the mainstream appeal that the wii has because they were designed almost exclusively for core gamers (which is good for us, btw, but not a strategy that'll win the console war this gen).

at the same time, nintendo released a LOAD of titles that would appeal to their core fanbase. they released zelda, metroid, mario, fire emblem, paper mario, wario ware, super smash bros, and mario kart - all within a two year timespan. never before had nintendo released big name first party games at a pace like that. the virtual console was also made available mainly for the core nintendo audience. so i think nintendo worked hard and did a good job of keeping their core fanbase interested.

so in the end, nintendo captured the mainstream audience while at the same time keeping a good portion of their 20+ million core audience from last gen. with this strategy, nintendo set themselves up for victory this gen.

I think you are 100% correct. But they shouldnt celebrate too early. Crazy stuff has happened in the past.

I believe the Gamecubes sold at a rather fast pace last gen but lost it's apeal later on. I don't think that will happen again since the Wii is build for different reasons, but yeah, this gen isn't over yet

Wii is the cheapest and child proof, what more can a parent look for in a console?

Why do DVDs outsell Blu-Rays? Blu-Rays look alot better. I don't understand it.

SpruceCaboose

The markets bigger, more people own a DVD player.

Do you think that because a new piece of technology is released that everybody runs out and buys it? Not everyone are nerds like us, remember that.
