I doubt fans realise how small the difference between this gen and last gen.

like i said, graphics will continue to improve little by little... but there are no more drastic changes ever possible. fact

Not fact, not even close. We haven't entirely nailed city-scapes yet and compared to organic environments they are easy. This generation is a very sizable jump, but is it photorealistic as some say? Not even close.

When blades of grass can be individually rendered with differing lighting and variable physics-driven movement to it then I will consider the litmus test passed for photorealism passed.

Compare the early games on any of the systems of last gen to this gen and take into account improved physics, audio, and AI IN ADDITION TO graphics and you'll understand how huge the jump actually is.

yes but those are all very small changes when you open your eyes and look at the whole picture, all gens...

i'm notimplying that graphics wont improve, i'm just saying that the changes wont be as drastic as they've been in the past. graphics are at a plateau right now and i dont think rendering every blade of grass is really going to make much of a difference.

by no next gen graphics i'm implying that next gen will dissapoint on the graphics scale because the graphics wont look much different than current gen, hd will already be standard by then and wont seem that important, and console prices will skyrocket

you wont be hearing "OMG WOW LOOK AT THE AMAZING NEXT GEN GRAPHICS!! OMG OMG OMG!!! I AM CLEARLY AMAZED!!!! OMG!!!!"
