I feel as though Microsoft hates me as a consumer.

I should start off by saying this is NOT a thread about PSN, or Steam being better than Xbox Live. Nor is it a hate thread in any stretch of the imagination.

This is what gets me, i remember buying Gears of War when it launched at midnight, i was so pumped and ecstatic because me and all my closest friends were all buying Gears that night, we had waited a long time for it. A few months later i notice Epic wanted to give us some free maps which was cool because back in early 07 Map packs weren't as big as they were now. A few days later i find out MS WOULD NOT let Epic release the maps for free? Whatever, no big deal it was like $8.

Here comes Unreal Tournament 3, Epic is again is trying to show gamers love with free stuff. MS says no and puts a price tag on it. I later find out that the PS3 is getting it for free? Oh well, its out of my control.

Then finally i see it happen again. Valve is like Hi'a guyz, here's some free stuff for your Zombie killin game. Ms says "Silly Valve, free stuff is for kids!" So then MS poops on my face again by releasing all the DLC with a pretty little price that wasn't needed at all.

My two cents is that they could just give it away to Gold members and charge the Silver members, that seems fair enough to me. But no, Microsoft couldn't even do that for me. Please tell me why i bought a Xbox again when MS treats me like cow poop.

First off, being upset with MS and owning a PS3 people will call you a cow.

Second, it's MS, what did you expect? I've been working with MS products most of my life and knew everything that has happened in their foray with gaming would go this way.

IMO, if not for a young group of kids not knowing how to work a PC and never playing a FPS before Halo, MS's gaming section would be back making flight sims and RTS for windows. (instead of closing those parts down)

Did you buy the DLC? If so, that's why Microsoft treats you that way. Why give free stuff to 2 million users when you can charge them for it instead? Sure, 100,000 might be well informed enough to give them the bird & go to the PS3, but MS are still making cash off of 1.9 million. Yes, it's stupid that they are charging for something the developers want to be free, but there are many that are even more stupid by buying it...

..Or poor like me & can't afford a PS3 [spoiler] LOWER THE PRICE SONY PLEASE GOD DAMN [/spoiler] or gaming rig & just shell out the 8-15 bucks every few months.

Yeah, the whole $50/year was originally supposed to include the whole "free game upgrade" ordeal. Things have changed, however.

Reality is, a decent 360 (that's not LOL 4G) is as much as a PS3. Actually more if you count XBLG.

I mean, the average Blu Ray Player goes for 100-150 dollars. The huge harddrive goes for 30-50 dollars. It's like getting a gaming console for 100-170 dollars if you don't have a blu-ray player and they didn't include the hard drive.

They love money more than you :cry: and you bought an xbox because it was better at the time but the ps3 has beaten it down with brass knuckles since then. My advice - get the ps3. Sooo many Amazing exclusives you are missing out on. At least you guys are getting gears of war 3 which looks amazing (but a year of waiting :cry:

They don't have to lower the price anymore if they don't want to. Either way, I'm pretty happy with my 80 gig PS3. I was just in agreement with J-WOW; I was further stressing the point.

Let's not get racist here. I'm sure Microsoft didn't make it free just because they need to pay to maintain the servers so that gamers could download the DLC. Sure the price was beyond ridiculous, but they've gotta make sure they keep stuff up.

One good thing that has come out of Microsoft's attempts at price gouging and general asshattery though is points cards. May there always be people without credit cards whose money Microsoft seeks.

They are a business, thats what they do. They drain their customers until they're dry and leave them hanging. This is the reason why I don't have an xbox anymore.

Ah I love threads like this especially after just coming from the Sony store and seeing them charge $4.99 for "theme packs" for Sports champions...a game that has been out for what two weeks? Yep they don't gouge for DLC either...Sony does it for the love of consumers, rainbows and little bunnies. :roll:

It is really to bad M$ won't give us the freebies that valve and such are creating. They didn't have to create the dlc, they just have to allow us to download it. Isn't this one of the reasons we already pay a yearly fee.

This is just one of the reasons that I will be switching to the PS3 this holiday season.

You can cry all you want, but at the end of the day, all companies want your money. Do you really think Sony has a free online service because they love their customers? No, it's free because they know it's a major selling point. Nobody owes you free stuff.
