pff cheaper and more games to choose from thats why i usually wait bout 2-3 years before jumping in.First years usually filled with tripe and the odd gem look at the 3ds.
I'll take cheaper and a bigger library over launch day tripe and higher prices on possibly less reliable hardware.Dunno why you feel bad for these people they will get a ton of amazing games for cheap by jumping in later.
They waited and waited for the prices to drop somewhat but in rwality they waites away 5-6 years of fun they could have been having. And now pretty much every console is in its final lap, before you know it we will see ps4 xbox 720 and wii u. It pays off to buy consoles around launchStevelovessony
Wen you buy late, you'll have a ton of cheap used games to pick from, far cheaper consoles to pick from, and a large library of games to build.
Why would you feel bad? It's the best thing any person can do, you mearly need patience.
They are getting the same experience though.
I personally couldn't do it, playing something day one is a special moment to me, waiting for pricedrops even is not an option in some cases.

Sorry but if i was to spend 600euros ( more than 800$$?) for a PS3 with no game and 1 controller and wait like 2 years with no massive games except MGS4... i would cry!! I never buy a console on day 1. And im gaming since Atari 2600.
That's why it's cheaper now. If you bought a console earily in its life than it would be expensive but not become outdated for a long time. If you buy it later than it's cheaper but the next console will be coming in a couple of years.

I hate buying launch consoles. I learned that lesson after Dreamcast: you just don't know what's going to happen. It's ok to wait, especially since you'll have more games to select from. Besides, it doesn't hurt playing older games. Just last year I played Ocarina of Time for the first time.

well sure "how you play the game" as you put it might make them a generation ahead of the rest just like the Wii did.
Still, specs doesn't change the fact that Wii U is next-gen.
Eh, it's cheaper and I dunno, perhaps even wiser to buy later rather than sooner but IMO, it's much, much, much less exciting and I just love getting new tech when it's still umm, new. :P
i wouldnt agree that they are getting the same experience. warhawk for example was crouded and all match types would be available. the official servers am talking about. and now its only CTF and MIX. and also not that easy finding the match....and now people will get uc3 and forget about uc2 online. so in the end. the person buying a ps3 is getting less than half of the experience. plus i doubt anyone would want to buy R1 now since the graphics compared to now are just horrible in that game. back then it looked ok but now now... and i agree with you on your other statement. you go buy day 1. brand new game. pop it in drive. feels like you blowing out candles on your birthday from childhood...They are getting the same experience though.

I waited until late 2009 and don't feel bad about that at all. Waiting an extra 2 years to save $50 would be a bit pointless, but it was definitely smarter to pay $299 for the slim than $699 for the original model.
Plus I doubt anyone just now buying really cares about next gen being "right around the corner". If they waited 5/6 years to get into this gen, wouldn't you expect them to take at least a few years to get into next gen? ;)
Buying consoles at launch is moronic.Next gen I'm waiting a full year before I buy one.Not gonna get fooled by pr bs again.

Pretty much every aspect. They hype these beasts up to be the best consoles out there and I understand. They have to.But I just ended up with a console with no interesting games to play and a very bleak future at the same time.[QUOTE="SuperFlakeman"]

By the time his PS3 library hit 10 games, I bought a PS3 slim for half the price.

in the end its up to the person when to buy a console. i like buying things day 1. so i get them day 1...I wouldn't feel too bad considering they paid a fraction of the launch prices and can pick up great titles for cheap. Next gen I'll be waiting longer than I did this gen. Don't worry I have a huge backlog to keep me preoccupiedmeluvulongtime8
Exactly what I plan to do. I bought the 3DS at the price drop (when WalMart dropped it early so I could get in on the Ambassador Program) and I'll more than likely buy the Vita at launch unless all of the good lookings games aren't released at launch.
But consoles... I have so many experiencs left with this generation that I could survive a while before picking up a new one.
Why feel bad? They get everything cheaper and have a larger library to choose from. Not buying at launch is the best route to take.
I usually wait about a year. By then you can take a clear examination of how good the console is, and there will be a decent sized library.
Meh, I don't feel bad for them. They get a better console for less money and they can buy old games for chump change when I had to pay $60.
rwality they waites away 5-6 years of fun they could have been havin
I doubt they were sitting around for 5-6 years hating life. They probably were doing one of the billions or trillions of fun things in life that doesn't involve playing current gen console games.

Nintendo is generation behind, Wii U isn't next gen console
The wii u is next gen, simply because it will be the new home console made by nintendo and because its actually better than the current gen consoles. it does not even come close to an average gaming PC, but still, its a next gen console, next gen starts next yearI was thinking the other way around. I want to wait out the next generation - aside from mayyybe one platform - to be able to buy at much cheaper prices. This generation I bought most PS3 games at budget prices, and I liked that a lot. I never bought as many misshaps as this generation, and the prices of games have been getting ridiculous.
I'm not paying over 50 for a game anyway, so maybe it'll come naturally for me to wait.
Also early adopters especially of the 360 got screwed.
No Dual Shock, many new SKU's, bundles, quick price drops, Live price increase, hardware issues.
Nah, I think it's better to wait it out a little. Maybe the best approach is to drop in in the middle of a generation or so.

Yeah that has always been the case with my platforms. At the start you have very slim pickings. That's another reason to wait it out.Even though i own all the console this gen its much better to pick up a console at the end of gen after all the great games for it have been released rather than at lauch with 2 or 3 games that are not even actually good.
[deleted]
not everyone has the money to buy like over 150 games at once...best to pick it up like after 1 year. its a terrible idea to pick up a console in its release...those are the first ones to get damagedEven though i own all the console this gen its much better to pick up a console at the end of gen after all the great games for it have been released rather than at lauch with 2 or 3 games that are not even actually good.
