I feel sorry for the PSP being a fad.

[QUOTE="pintabear49blue"]i have a psp and use it daily. the games are alight and are really fun.0starter0

Using it daily just proves the point it's not a portable system, (unless you ride a train every single day and have enough time to actually play games) it's just a watered down PS2.

I use it to play games on the subway some times. but i listen t music and podcats and various things. all portablle

Both handhelds suck. But at least the PSP tries to do what it was made to do. Bring the console experience on the go.

The DS was made to change the way uoi play games. So far all I see is a bunch of games that could have been better done on other platforms. And none actual put good use to the bottom screen. The DS is THE most over rated system ever.

Your point makes no sense I play my DS everyday does that not make it a portable system? My DS and PSP is as much as aportable system doesn't matter if someone plays it everyday or only traveling.

[QUOTE="Finale-"]Why does a "fad" have more AA games than the DS and the same amount of AAAs?pintabear49blue

Because the analogue sucks and nobody is buying them. Except me, and i sold mine, so that is two people who definately had a PSP.

actually i have a psp and i played 5 people online erlier. so that is 8 people who had a psp.

and just I played a 32-player online match on medal honor heroes, so 40 people now

how on earth is he self owned. because he gets enjoyment out of a system in other ways then gaming.

please tell me what PS in PSP stands for again. yeah, ipod says hi, too.

Yeah, PSP says bye too; $170>$300+.  And don't give me that bull about the iPod Nano or the Shuffle; the Nano can't do video and the shuffle doesn't have a screen.

As for the rest of you... not one of you has provided any case for why the DS beats the PSP other than sales.  It also seems kind of funny how SW rules don't seem to apply to the DS.  According to SW rules, the system with more AA and AAA titles has better games.  "Bu bu most of them are ports!!" Let's see how much this changes the playing field...
PSP exclusives:

Daxter

Metal Gear Solid:  PO

Burnout Legends

Lumines

Syphon

Wipeout

SOCOM

GTA

Crush

Mega Man

Twisted Metal

Lumines II

GTA 2

Field Commander

SOCOM 2

KIllzone

Ridge Racer

Metal Slug Anthology

R&C

Ace Combat X

MGA2

Tokobot

Virtua Tennis:  Word Tour

MGA

Darkstalkers Chronicle

Mega Man Maverick Hunter X

Gurumin

WTF

Me and My Katamari

Pursuit Force

Exit

Kingdom of Paradise

That's 32 games.  And the GTA's do count.  Last time I checked, the definition of a port was getting a hand-me-down from another system.  And seeing as the PS2 got the hand-me-down with less features and crappier graphics...

Now, let's look at the DS:

Mario Kart DS

Advance Wars

Yoshi's Island

Nintendogs

NSMB

EBA

Mario and Luigi

Casltevania:  Dawn of Sorrow

Pheonix Wright:  Ace Attorney

MP:  H

Kirby:  Canvas Curse

Pokemon diamon

Pokemon Pearl

Meteos

Lunar Knights

Animal Crossing:  Wild World

Tony Hawk's American Sk8land

Castlevania:  Portrait of Ruin

Hotel Dusk

Mario vs Donkey Kong 2

Age of Empires:  The Age of Kings

Sonic Rush

Metroid Pinball

Bomberman Land Touch

The NYT Crosswords

Final Fantasy:  Chocobo Tales

Clubhouse Games

That's 27 games, and if you count the other three Nintendogs releases that's 30.   So according to SW rules, the PSP has the superior gaming library.

I wonder how DS fans are going to spin this...

EDIT:  And by the way, the same argument for GTA applies to Burnout Legends.  I don't think anyone will even question this... the PSP version scored a 9.0 as opposed to the DS's 3.5.  That's not even worth arguing.

LOL

I don't know about you, but I'd much rather be getting my money's worth out of the system by wanting to play it every day than not using it daily when I want to because it means it's not the "standard definition of a portable system".  And if you ask the majority of PSP owners who also own PS2s, they actually get more use out their PSP than out of their PS2 at home. In case you were wondering, that also includes me.

Great point. There goes the ports argument. PSP is a great system, it just has negative hype. Most of the people talking crap have not even played one. Both the DS and PSP are great handhelds, play them.

I can see why you'd think that. As the PSP is an unpopular failure the likelihood of most people playing it is quite slim. But i did actually own a PSP back in my younger days. I was foolish, blinded by the moveable button, the graphics and the ports. Thankfully i sold it while it still had a little value, and invested my money into more PS2 and DS games (ironically many of the PS2 games had watered down versions on the PSP).

and i haven't totally written off the PSP. I will buy one as soon as the redesign comes through. the port of Final Fantasy Tactics and the port/remake of Dracula X and SOTN is simply too good to pass up. There's even a few other exclusive games i want for the machine like MGS, Jean D'Arc, Brave Story and God of War.

That should have just put another damn analog. Then they devs wouldnt be limited to just one and then games would play a lot better than they are. MGS portable ops needs another analog. Maybe they will make another PSP with another analog. Im still keeping mine for crysis core.

Basically what you're saying is that you bought a PSP back when the only available games were Lumines and Wipeout Pure, and you didn't like that so you sold it.  Unfortunately for you you missed out on 2006, the year of great & awesome PSP games.  Tekken, Syphon Filter, Daxter, Killzone Liberation, MGS:  PO, Loco Roco, Field Commander... So when you do get that redesign, make sure to check out the games you missed, because you've missed quite a few.

Actually back in the early days the PSP had much better games than the DS. Then PSP had some AMAZING stuff around launch, the DS had **** all. The original DS also looked like it was made in communist era russia while the PSP looked like a more modern nineties design.

Then the DS lite was released. A Sleek, sophisticated, minimalist design with a truly modern ipodish look that instantly made the PSP look outdated. DS owners got Phoenix Wright 1+2, NSMB DS, Yoshis Island 2, EBA, MPH etc. PSP owners got a gimped Socom game with auto aim and Killzone.

There are definately some PSP games i want though. Loco Roco looks amazing as does Super GNG. MGS PO and Daxter. As for the rest Tekken is a crap, boring fighter that i played on my PS2. Field Commander is a second rate advance wars ripoff and Killzone ( ) seems about as appetising as the original on the PS2. But yes, as i said i don't hate the PSP for no reason. I hate it because the hardware and software is crap. The hardware will be fixed by the redesign and a few developers are making an effort with bespoke software so i havent completely ruled out the games either.

You never cease to amaze me, bashing the PSP for it's PS2 ports, then praising it for PSone ports a few posts later. Honestly (and we've had this discussion before) most of your posts seem to be mindless invective, and your typical response when challenged on this point is, "Well it's System Wars."

No. Just because it's system wars does not justify you acting like an idiot. My problem with my PSP is always battery. Consistently. You seem to say whatever you have to to keep from conceding an argument, THEN change your opinion or throw in something completely unrelated to the current debate if it serves the purpose of not saying, "Sorry. I was at least partially incorrect in my original assessment".

That's not justified by the statement "It's System Wars". You're attacking it'shardware and game library then going on to praisea hypothetical redesign* (With unknown specs if it does exist) and the game library you were just mocking! You're making Tekkenmaster seem rational! Don't DO that!

*AT BEST, the redesign will answer battery life, screen brightness, size, and internal memory. There will be no second analog button, the size difference will be negligiable at best, internal memory will NOT be enough for heavy homebrew or even video freaks, and the screen was already bright enough! If that's what you're waiting for, just buy an extra battery and a big memory stick!

To be honest the second analogue stick doesn''t bother me too much. Regardless of what people say it would be difficult to implement, and it would only give further incentive to lazy devs to port bastardised PS2 games to the PSP. I'd be more than happy if they sorted out the existing controls, the battery life, the load times and added some internal memory. I'd also like something a little more compact. If it is truly to be seen as a legitmate portable multimedia device it will need to be TRULY portable. At the moment it's just too bulky.

As for me getting excited about some PS1 games, it may seem hypocritical I know. But those two games are bonafide classics that are more than suitable for the PSP (both in terms of controls and portabile play) and they look DAMN fine. You can can call it hypocracy, i call it good taste.

As for Tekkenmaster, he is a cool dude as is A_Ratchet_Fan. I doubt either of them take my inflammatory arguments seriously. But i apologise if i upset you (again). You and i have discussed at length my views on the PSP, and while it may seem like mindless invective due to the blunt and often exaggerated nature of my posts, I still stand by my criticisms.
