[QUOTE="True_Gamer_"][QUOTE="AdrianWerner"][QUOTE="True_Gamer_"]That it wont be another Dune2 clone...
Its almost 15 years now that that game has haunted the RTS genre: memorise shortcuts, memorise build orders, build bas, collect resources, rush the opponent, click faster: WIN...
World in Conflict and the TW series are tiny exceptions in the darkess of pathetic clickfests...

I disagree. We hardly get traditional RTSes anymore, the genre has moved into resource-less territories or added other new elements. I'm not complaining., but variety is good and with CnC3 being preety underwhelming we do have severe lack fo traditional RTSes now. So it's good to see Blizzard won't stray too much from the formula

And really..a Dune2 clone? Total War is bassicaly Lots of the realms2 clone, so please stop with the melodrama.
Is LOR2 turn based? No? there you go half of the game is different... Does it have 3d enviroment as STW? No? hmmm again different...
I dare anyone to try to memorise anything or have great reflexes to go online at M2TW and feel what real tactical thinking is all about...
Erm...LoR2 IS turn-based(only third part moved fully into real-time). And no..it doesn't have 3D enviorements, but guess what? Neither did Dune2 or original Starcraft, so SC2 is diffrent already :)
Abnd really..I like M2TW, but in reality the series hardly evolved since 2002, not to mention CA regularly ignores the three biggest fan complains (lack of naval combat, lack of campaign multiplayer and crappy battle AI)

I wish some worthy contender would rise for TW, compared to WWII wargames where games are getting better and deeper all the time TW is bassicaly stuck, while it could have been so much more.
You might bash SC for lack of tactics(but guess what? It's not about tactics), but the diffrence between games like Combat Mission and TW in tactics is as big as between SC and TW
If a supposed strategy game isnt at all about tactics then its not a strategy game anymore rather than a memry/reflexes benchmark...
As far as CA and TW are concerned IMO only WiC comes close to the style and gameplay of the genre...No basebuilding no resourcecollecting...
And IMO CA is trapped in their little monopoly of thousands of troops ultimate melee wargame world since none steps in to compete with them...As for the whole AI thing thats the key to why the series are so amazing they are so NOT speed dependant that the AI simply cant cope in the way that the Dune2 clo(w)nes do through sheer speed outasking... There are just too many variables...
Also campaign multiplayer is impossible from ground up as for navall battles the engine of RTW wasnt designed for them im confident they will come in the next engine...Â
