Well, finally somebody responded with some intelligence, lol. There are intelligent lemmings I guess.

1. I do believe my first point is valid. Higher resolution LCD's aren't that far from coming out. they already make those you know, but they use them for computers. I believe that we will see TV's with higher resolutions in two or three years and the PS3 will be able to support it. Plus, you don't think a console can have 8-9 years lifespan. Look at the PS2. It's selling better than both the 360 and the PS3 and even bringing out great games like GOW 1,2. Also the I said in the begining of the thread that it's about the future, not present. Yes the average Joe does not have a 7.1 surround system, but in a couple of years they will and the PS3 supports it.

2. my point about the ram was to bring a point on how fast technology demand rise. Technology demands better hardwareevery year. it's no big deal. maybe a bad example. My point is that we will move to higher resolution TV's and we will see 30GB games, and xbox can't support them. The PS3 does.

3. As for the HDD access, 30Gb games don't need to have 30Gb of harddrive space to be streamed there. You can have a buffer of 10Gb on the hdd that you could use as long as that buffer fills fast enough on the fly. so I don't think there is any need for bigger space on HDD. The current HDD will support it fine.

4.Yes i do remember what I was playing 9 years ago. I was playing GT on PS1. The games that came out for the PS2 when it first launched and the games that come out for it now, i.e. GOW, are totally different because Developers get really good with a system after that long. if we have a real life example of a system lasting about 8 years(ps2), why don't you believe it?

5. not sure about the Pentium IV. I had studied teh MIPS back in my day and that had a 5 stage pipeline in it. Moore's law isn't even a law. It's just a fact that technology advances very fast.

6. Why is mentioning RROD fanboyism? It's a fact. what's wrong with that? It's got major hardware problems. in a couple of years, what makes you think that the average Joe will buy a 360 over a PS3 knowing that one has a 30% failure rate vs the other, not to mention all the "stuff" the PS3 comes with out of the box. Come on, don't you see this?

7. my point about the PS3 having only 512MB of memory was a downside. you probably just missed that word. That wasn't a complement of it.

I have both and the ps3 in it's one year has done nothing to impress me. I like playing blu ray movies. The 360 is simply better. better games, better graphics, better online, better controll, better price,and better multiplats. Its just better. All my 360 games are 1080p and most of the ps3 games are 720p. 1080p>720p. 360>ps3.carsales

have you played uncharted? Plus, what did the 360 have in its first year that impressed you that the PS3 didn't have in its first year? I know quite a few people that weren't impressed with the 360 until gears came out, so that would be a little over a year for the 360 until something decent came out for it.

I know quite a few people that weren't impressed with the 360 until gears came out, so that would be a little over a year for the 360 until something decent came out for it.

You do realize the 360 is just upscaling it to 1080p, basically the same as your TV does when it gets a 720p image...right? I'd get into the specifics but I'm going to bed.

To the other guy: with all 3 consoles my play time was probably 50% PS3 40% Wii and maybe 10% 360 so... gofigure. I like the 360, I just think it's bad for gaming on the whole.

Uncharted is the best looking game on consoles, and gears does not look better because I have it on the PC (running at 1680x1050 on quad 4, 8800GT). I don't think you own a PS3, sorry. Plus, the multiplats won't tell you the complete story unless the game is developed separetely on both consoles and the devs are actually famaliar with PS3 programming. Give the PS3 one more year, then we will compare the multiplats.

The HDMI 1.3 vs. 1.2 thing is pointless. These tvs you're talking about are not out there, no one has them, no store carries them. If they do in the next "couple of years" they will be god-awful expensive and will take much, much longer to achieve the kind of market penetration that would even matter for your argument. Much longer than a couple of years.The same goes for the 7.1 surround sound. None but the earliest adopters have it. Most households don't even have 5.1, and you think a significant amount will have 7.1 within a couple of years? I think not. Do you have any idea how long ittakes for new tech to be adopted in any numbers? These things may one day matter, but not for this gen of consoles.

As for 8-9 year system lifespan... that is a bit optimistic, no? The PS2 may still be going, but it is not the lead system, not even for Sony. Anyone who spends time at a gaming forum like System Wars is obviously into gaming, and is unlikely to still be on the PS3 9 years from now, and isalso unlikely to still be using the PS2 right now as their primary gaming console, so arguments about being "future proof" are a bit disingenuous, though they do have the nasty bonus of being impossible to disprove (or prove) without the aid ofa Delorean with a flux capacitor.

Wether Uncharted or GeoW looks the best is up for discussion, but claming Uncharted looks better the GeoW on PC is blatantly fanboy talk. And by the way more x360 games run 1080p nativly than PS3 games.
