So I just read an article talking about Sony's answer to Xbox Live. It is supposedly Second Life on a small and less interactive scale. Being as I have never played or seen Second Life, I figure it sounds just like The Sims, except you have to pay real cash for the clothes you wear and the stuff you buy for your virtual Sim Apartment. I guess the answer to achievement points will be clothing for your avatar. When you beat MGS4 you get a bandana to wear, or with the alternate ending, a pack of smokes. Joking aside, my hope is that this Home feature, Sony's answer to Xbox Live, is not a mandatory thing. When Sony drops the price tag on this thing and I eventually buy it, I am in no way interested in customizing an avatar in order to communicate with people. Let alone pay real cash for advertising of other companies! Yikes what a bizarre venture...
Hey, on the bright side I heard they are reintroducing the rumble feature to their controller. Maybe they'll implement it when they drop the price on the PS3. That'd be another way to screw their loyal fan base that bought it when it was released out of fanboi'ism.

Answer: "Yes, we have about (insert rounded number here) in back" Are any of them the 500$ model? Answer: "No, we've never had that model in stock, why would you want it?" Do you have any Nintendo Wiis? Answer: "No, sold out this morning. Sorry"

I'd like to make sure that in order to receive similar functionality to Xbox Live, which I enjoy on my 360, I do not have to essentially play a poor Sims or Second Life knock off to accomplish it.

My impression of this generation of gaming is as follows - in brief. M$ has something to prove, they want to take over as a lead gaming company, they are also promoting other services such as Windows Live and even Windows Vista. Sony is cocky from the last two generations, and didn't feel like they need to woo anyone, they felt it had been done. They slapped an outlandish price tag on a system that looks great on paper, but has yet to deliver anything worthy. Nintendo failed last round and didn't seem to have the financial interest to compete anymore technically, and decided to take a new route and appeal to new users. (smartest of them all and my favorite)
When Blu-Ray becomes the undisputed standard in home video, I will consider a PS3. IF the PS3 is still a relatively inexpensive Blu-Ray player then, I will purchase it.
Alternately, if it fails and the price drops to liquidation levels, I'll get it for stuff like resistance and the blu-ray player.

not quite. Yellow Dog brings your PS3 version back down to 3.0 for resource waste management.

You don't void your warranty by changing Hard Drive.
