NEither games provide anything spectacular.

One has great graphics, no "awe" gameplay.

While SMG provides great gameplay, but the graphics are an eye-sore.

I can think of 3 games that would be better off...

Well unfortunately for you it's very likely one of those games will scoop up the award.

COD4. Even though I hate FPS and that game just gives you headache the longer you play, the game is beautiful.

Super Mario Galaxy. It's original. The levels are unique. The game is unique. It's not a rehash like 99% of the other stuff out there.CPM_basic

how is SMG an eye sore? its not technically amazing, but I can't understand how someone could play the gusty garden galaxy, the manta ray surfing or the final fight against nowser and say its graphics are an eye sore :?

also, crysis has fantastic gameplay.

These 2 games I would say deserve it the most. I really want Crysis to win, but if SMG wins, I can see why and that's cool too.

Are you nuts? Crysis's gameplay was certainly amazing. Most non-linear fps I've ever played. I can't believe, you feel under the whole stupid ign au review. It said "Nobody cares about the innovations in the gameplay. Its all about the graphics, and they've been hyped!" And thats how they reviewed the game. Seriously.

And smb not having good graphics? Sure, its jaggy in spots, but in some places- I think it look better than rachet and clank: future. Mostly that while rachet is plain, smg is really artistic and creative.

Not really. You may not like it thats your choice. Personally I think its a good contender, as is Bioshock.

Now if smg played like sneak king, then I could care less. But if crysis looked like far cry instincts on the xbox? I wouldn't care. Theres enough innovation in crysis to make me want to play it, that have nothing to do with graphics.

Since when have graphics been so important? And eye-sore? The artwork is great and thanks to it, it looks fantastic. I like the looks of it more than Crysis.

And this is a PC gamer saying that.

The Orange Box is a shoo in for GOTY this year...It's 3 of the best games this year in the same package.

Let me guess, you started gaming in this generation, right? I mean, you couldn't have possibly been gaming on any consoles before that because your eyes would have surely begun bleeding. That's what I gather from you calling Super Mario Galaxy an eye sore anyway.
