I'm a PC gamer. I hope that next-gen console tech pwns PC.. Because they actually WON'T pwn PC. It'll actually be helping PC gamers.

Hypothetically, development would begin on the PC since it would be the "inferior" platform. No more crappy ports, I would assume. We would get games that actually push our hardware. Seeing as console hardware is slowly becoming synonymous with PC hardware, perhaps those ports will be efficient as well as visually satifactory.

I'm rooting for both M$ and Sony... oh yeah, and Nintendo.

There's a better chance of peace in the middle east or a cure to aids.

It would but as more console users get tired of sony and micorsoft BS and as digital distribution takes hold they will need us more and more. They will have to give us preferential treatment.

I like how Sony and Xbox fanboys seem to have this weird illusion that PC technology is put on hold while their upcoming consoles are being developed.

The PC being "inferior" in this fantasy land scenario, would last two years at most.(for a majority of the userbase to catch up after it leapfrogs consoles again) Then you'd be right back where things always are.

its pc fanboies blaming consoles since 9 out of every 10 developers on PC are low budget devs, or devs porting console games. The sad part is pushing hardware isn't really what is going to make gaming better... maybe if game dev's took a step back and focused on game play and mechanics people wouldn't be pissing and moaning so much about the 'HD" or cinematic experience gen.

pushing hardware does make games better, painkiller physics were a big part of the gameplay.

They make games using PC's, if consoles were indeed more powerful than PC's then they wouldn't make games anymore. Consoles are basically just PC's anyway to one degree or another, I think consoles are powerful, even current gen, mainly the PS3. I don't think consoles are weak or massively inferior like Hermits say.

The average console gamer doesn't care about this "BS" we speak of on the forums. Forum members are a unique breed of gamers who tend to complain more and whine about bad endings to games, meanwhile, the average gamer is just playing their COD/Halo right about now. As far as digital distribution, it's already available on both consoles, so that's hardly a reason for console gamers to "give us preferential treatment."

Thanks for actually going with the drift of my OP. (no sarcasm) I agree. With ATI and nVidia spitting new cards out so frequently and high performance becoming so cheap, it would be impossible for a console to remain superior for very long. Even at the current state, I'd go as far as to say that a console will never reign superior over a high-end PC, but remember: ATI and nVidia are also the ones creating console GPUs. It's certainly plausible that they'll develop a console GPU that will deliver a surprising amount of power.
