[QUOTE="navstar29"][QUOTE="Gxgear"]why do people think that sony is stopping production of the psp3000. They're going to be sold side by side! Exactly...don't people read up on this stuff? DId you whiners even watch the E3 press confrence? It seems that people have ADHD or something...pay attention... No support is being dropped from umd. They will continue to support both, psp 3000 is still being made. The psp go is NOT a new system its an addtion to the psp forms..hence why still one analog stick. There is no reason to be complaining at all. No one id forcing you to buy it, Any game that comes out will work on your psp1000/2000/3000 or go.... Only the small games will be DD only like Holy invasion of privacy badman, what did i do to deserve this (love that game!!!!!!!!!) and patapon 2, big titles like FF:disiddia, GT portable, etc.. will be both... and hell you can still download games on other psps there is no problem, you people whine about this for nothing. Don't buy it and buy a psp3000...big deal. I got both psp 2000 and 3000 and will be buying the go because I love psp ... its a small extra portable device I can put in my pocket with 16gb internal mem and another 16gb mem stick thats 32 gb. PSP gaems vary from 40mb to 1.8gb max...most are under a gig. Hell even the 3 disc FF7 is only 1.3gb. I currently have on my 4gb stick for my psp3000 - FF7, Metal GearSolid, Badman, Wipeuot pure, Suikoden1, wild arms 1, , Castlevania sotn, brave story new traveler, and crash bandicoot 2, with space to boot.PSP Go is like a slap in the face to exisiting PSP supporters. People have accepted the new UMD disk format back then, and now are now being told to convert to a new handheld priced like a console.
If the launch library is big enough with good titles, I might just pick it up. But it's unlikely that this will end well.

I think you're the one with the ADHD. What happens if I want to play a UMD game on my PSP Go, if I decide to get one? Rebuy all of them on PSN THEN download them on it? PSP Go just doesn't give itself that many reasons to be bought.

I assume you mean UMD games you already own? I believe sony said they are working on a way to convert your old UMDs into a digital copy, possibly involving retailers, with a machine.I dont mind full DD games, only thing I dont like about them is the fact hat Im not only a gamer, Im a game colector meaning that I collect games that are rare/I believe will be rare in the future and keep them in high quality. Thing is, if games go totally digital download a lot of collectors will be out of a hobby which is a real shame...
however the gamer half of me thinks the whole DD concept is cool but Go is still way too overpriced.
so basically either way, Go is an epic fail in my book both for the gamer, and the collector in me.
Actually, I think DD and portable gaming could work well together. The only hurdle would be storage space.SuperNecrothe only problem with storage space is price, there are now 256gb flash based notebook hdds, and 32gb flash drives space is not a issue in a year or so those things will get cheap.
It was the same with BC on the Ps3, they said at first they it wasn't gone, "its just the EE chip" , BC "will continue in the form of Software emulation", the old 80gb Ps3s were dropped and BC was over forever when stock was cleared, Sony acts in mysterious ways nobody comprehends.[QUOTE="Androvinus"] relax dude they are still supporting the psp3000. the go is just for the people who dare to be differentAgentA-Mi6
LOL, they are an alien intelegence! Like Naruni Enterprises from the RIFTS 3 galaxy setting!
I completely disagree, DD is the wave of the future and its also much more convenient. PSP Go is a day one buy for me. Disc Based games should be cut back in quantity(Production wise). And I mean that in a nice way. Personally, simply put, going full DD will kill gaming. DD is only good if it comes as a secondary option for gaming (Like PSN & XBLA). Discs & physical media should always be the first option for gaming.

At least this is optional, but if this suceeds, this will only give Sony ideas for them to do it in their next PSP handheld system, maybe on their next PS console. I say, don't support it. I don't know about the rest of you, but to each his/her own.
The reasons i am against DD mainly for PS3 and xbox 360 is:
1) set prices, if the only place we can by our games from is the online store it will be more difficult to find good deals,
2) re-sell: how do i buy a second hand DD or sell/part exchange for a new game
3)taking a game around afriends, since the game will be locked to my console it would mean lugging my console around rather than a game
4) download limits gift and curse i think Sony allow you to download upto 5 times, whats to stop people logging into their friends console downloading the game for them 5 happy game owners with 1 purchase then follows the draconian measures to try and counter this which usually hits the legitmate customer more.
i.e me who is on their 3rd PS3 console (though i would hope Sony database would sort me out)
and since i have heard not all console read direct from external harddrives what happens when i replace my HD thats full? please don't tellme this don't happen i have a 250gb HD and it only has 8gb left(Play TV)
Good solutions to the above then maybe i might be wonover,
DD gaming would actually be good for the developers, but that would OBLITERATE game shops, turning lots of people unemployed.
DD for the psp wont be too bad.
I mean the largest SP games are like 1.2 gigs, with mist under 800 mb and loads under 300mb...
so at the most its a 1-2 hour download.
For a handhled its a great idea. The point of a psp is that its portable entertainment. bringing 10 disks around with you is not very portable.
Now if you live in a wifi hotspot you can carry games with you in a small handheld, and even download new games on the go.
I mean imagine your in a train every day for work and get bored of your games... Simple, download one of the mini games from PSN. Pixeljunk monsters psp anyone?
i think DD for a handheld is a great idea if the files are small. but i'd also be really scared about my PSP breaking and all my games i dl'd with it.So sony should store the games to an online account so that in case anything were to happen you can re-dl all your games for free. normally i perfer an actual physical disc opposed to DD's because then i know it'll last forever(not technically speaking)
i don't want the system to flop, but it definitely needs a price drop within a week of releasing. especially in the uk with a £249 price tag, when the original psp released at £150-170? i think it was.
the console is actually pretty good if i ever find one for cheap i wouldn't mind it as the added portability is definitely a plus.
as for dd i think it makes sense for a handheld. unless sony go cartridge/card based format next gen i don't want another disk format at all. the umd is horrible you are playing and every 5 seconds it makes a horrible scratching sound.
i do prefer non-dd, as i like to have the disk, you can often find them cheaper (whereas dd will be on one online store, so no competition means no incentive to lower price.), and the ability to resell and buy used which is awesome.
How does the PSP Go add more variety, and enhances PSN when the only difference from the other PSPs is there's no UMD, and it's a completely new design? Plus, the $250 price tag is nothing more than price gouging. If you don't like it buy a different type of PSP. They aren't dropping the 3000. I don't see why people are complaining. It enhances PSN immensly and is great for people who want more portablilty. It just adds more variety. If you think it is overpriced and want a UMD drive go buy the 3000. It's that simple.

Plus, the $250 price tag is nothing more than price gouging. Enhances PSN b/c you can still buy the PSP games off the PSN store for the 3000, on your Memory Stick. The PSP Go just lets you hold on to 16GB more memory, at a steep and unnecessarily high price, which will probably be reduced around E3 next year to an appropriate price, once those that really really want one have gotten it.If you don't like it buy a different type of PSP. They aren't dropping the 3000. I don't see why people are complaining. It enhances PSN immensly and is great for people who want more portablilty. It just adds more variety. going fully Digital Download = cheaper game pricingKGB32
not entirely true. in theory it should be cheaper as manufacturing cost will be less. It will be sold through microsoft, nintendo or sony, so without any competition like physical media faces between the various online stores, super markets etc. then there will be no incentive to lower the price. the rrp will be cheap if that's what you mean, but it will probably stay the same price much longer.
look at psn, xbox live and wiiware, they keep their price tags forever pretty much.
The main reason I'm against DD is because the sad reality for most gamers is that a lot of internet companies enforce really strict usage caps... then they want to charge you $20 extra per month just to MARGINALLY increase the cap.. it's downright dictatorship and I hate them.
and not everyone has the internet too. it would ruin alot of businesses and generally just take a dump on the industry as a whole. the online community for xbox live is like 14-17 million? something like that and they have sold 30 million, that's like half who haven't got their consoles hooked up to the internet. i really can't see the internet becoming completely embedded in all households so everyone has wireless internet at fast speeds in the next 5 years. (i could be very wrong, but i just don't think everybody has the money or even the need to go online/ go wireless.)The main reason I'm against DD is because the sad reality for most gamers is that a lot of internet companies enforce really strict usage caps... then they want to charge you $20 extra per month just to MARGINALLY increase the cap.. it's downright dictatorship and I hate them.

[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]I fully support the PSP Go. Except its price.glenn2709
Ditto, if the price is $250 for you guys it will probably be around $300 in where I live so... :(
I would love to pay the € or £ equivalent of $250. €173.55 or £146.86 is a lovely price to pay for a PSP Go!
The reasons i am against DD mainly for PS3 and xbox 360 is:
1) set prices, if the only place we can by our games from is the online store it will be more difficult to find good deals,
There will no doubt be 3rd party online distrubutors just like there is currently.
2) re-sell: how do i buy a second hand DD or sell/part exchange for a new game
Oh well, re-selling is nearly as bad as piracy, too bad, its justified you should lose this right... dodgy companies 1 uping the devs while you get something for cheaper than you should.
3)taking a game around afriends, since the game will be locked to my console it would mean lugging my console around rather than a game
360 has a portable HDD... PS3 can use 3rd party hard drives... put 2 and 2 together ... you have all your games on a hdd isntead of stacks of discs... same concept.
4) download limits gift and curse i think Sony allow you to download upto 5 times, whats to stop people logging into their friends console downloading the game for them 5 happy game owners with 1 purchase then follows the draconian measures to try and counter this which usually hits the legitmate customer more.

HDD thats full? you just have your Tag/PSN ID ... but with no downloaded items on it... put the other one back in when you want wants on there... or you know.. delete stuff and redownload, you earn those "1 of 5 downloads" back when you uninstall it.

I personally don't have a problem with DD. Fact is, I buy lots of games through steam and its not really a big deal not having a disk. I would rather say its easier to jump from one game to the other, without having to replace disks, looking for them (if you're not that organized :P)...
But as previous posters said the price is just a bit too much. But DD is far from being a problem for me!
I don't mind DD on a hand-held system but $250 is way to much. I can buy a 3000 model, a 16 gig mem stick and a game for that price.
Yeah, I'm not giving $250 to Sony again. Not after I did for the first one at launch.i wish it was cheaper. 250 is way to much.

nope there will be set prices think of buying MP3 Music via itunes, Amazon or HMV they all sell the downloadable MP3's at the same price, selling games on the PSN will be no different
2) re-sell: how do i buy a second hand DD or sell/part exchange for a new game
Oh well, re-selling is nearly as bad as piracy, too bad, its justified you should lose this right... dodgy companies 1 uping the devs while you get something for cheaper than you should.
i completely disagree, why should we loose the right to sell something we no longer want, i sell crap games that i have bought and use them as part exchange for new games. it is hardly doggie practice respectable companies do this practice i.e Game Uk, Amazon, gamestation, cash converters etc
3)taking a game around afriends, since the game will be locked to my console it would mean lugging my console around rather than a game

This i might budge on fair dues, but whyshould i risk carrying around the sole of my console as opposed toa more durable disk?
4) download limits gift and curse i think Sony allow you to download upto 5 times, whats to stop people logging into their friends console downloading the game for them 5 happy game owners with 1 purchase then follows the draconian measures to try and counter this which usually hits the legitmate customer more.
you evaded this point.

So your actually going to stand by this argument? that i am to delete games and if i want to play it re-download the game which could take xyz amount of time (think of how large blu-ray games could be)then delete it after that day,as opposed to just putting in a disk?
