I hope the fans don't kill Fallout 3

I saw the HD video for FA3 on my 360 and this game looks amazing and exciting and yet the serie's most loyal fans are on a negative add campaign against it. I love how these babies try to ruin the game for everyone just because it doesn't suit your rediculus canonical expectations. This game looks awesome! You are not the "savior" of the series in fact you are a detriment.

ugh that's annoying... i also thought it was stupid when the new dragon quest game was going to be an action rpg.. and all the fans compained, so they turned combat back to match the originals... fans can be so stupid sometimes.

This thread can be summed up as one thing and my response to that is a biiiiig **** you too.

If any fan of any franchise got ****ed over as much as Fallout fanbase they would be complaining just as much. It gets particularly painful when none Fallout fans who have had no experience of the series prior to the bastardized version start yelling at the decade+ old fans for not bending over and taking it.

this is what the poindexters dont get. if there were any market for the old isometric fallout it never would have died in the first place. having a new take on an old series is better for the franchise then total death.

Chances are this will not be a bad game, however, I'm betting it will either be different from the others to the point of unrecognisable or simply not as good, yet it will probably get rave reviews and a whole new fanbase or people with lower standards like Oblivion.Kez1984

Bethesda could have done one very simple thing and I would be all over this game, not called it Fallout.

They could have said it was inspired by Fallout, that is was a spiritual successor to Fallout, anything to set it aside as a separate game. But no they called it Fallout, not just Fallout but Fallout 3, despite its game design having very little to do with Fallout.

The thing about Bioshock is it is a spiritual successor to System Shock 2, because of that I don't expect it to be exactly like System Shock 2 and it allows for a System Shock 3 to appear one day. Not Bethesda, they have to call this THE next installment in the Fallout franchise which all Fallout games will later be derived from.

They could have made things much easier on fans if they were not so intent on milking the prestige of the name.

Hmm...Interplay thought the same thing - they scrapped Black Isle Studios (who were working on an isometric Fallout 3) and focused on making more action-based games like Fallout Tactics and Brotherhood of Steel.

Bethesda could easily have continued with the Van Buren project (Fallout 3's code name), but decided to scrap it in order to make their own game.
If they hadn't bought it, Obsidian Studios probably would have. You know, the company founded by the guys who made Fallout 2?

They're going to ruin it, it will be Oblivion with guns and Oblivion sucked ass big time, it was the worst RPG to ever come out, mockery of all gamers, a dumbed down action adventure targeted at Halo fans, it was the borefest of the century, the worst kind of repetitive trash there is, it was an offline mmorpg, and they're using the same formula to make Fallout 3.

I'm excited for Fallout3 and I'm gonna give it a chance, I'll just think of it as a separate game from the originals, like Fallout Tactics which I liked too. But I'll complain all I want.

Know what is annoying? I have seen/read countless articles that justify my criticisms of the game, but I don't save them. I don't want to spend days searching the Internet to re-find the evidence of what I already know, I mostly read those articles to form my own opinion not to use as ammo in a argument, I realize the lack of evidence means I cannot convince others but I don't make up the things I say.

You make the mistake of assuming this is a partisan system debate. It is not. Many of the people complaining about Fallout 3 are obviously not Hermits, if you'd bother to read say, the Fallout 3 Reality Thread here on GameSpot.

*FacePalm* if only a tiny number of people cared for this game, would it still be available in retail 10 years after its release? How many games are still popular over 10 years later? They don't give shelf space to anything unless it sells regularly, your lack of caring about this audience does not change that there is a significant fan base.

Do some research as to why Black Isle disbanded. It was internal politics with Interplay, not finances. Of course, if actually knowing what your talking about makes you a 'poindexter' I can understand why you've deluded yourself into believing knowledge is evil.

Sometimes, good things need to die. Everything has a shelf life, and one of the best ways to ruin a good thing is to push it past it's prime. Look at the new Indiana Jones. Look at the new Star Wars. Look at the new Simpsons.

I can never understand the attitude that former fans should be happy their favourite franchise was pulled out of the grave, pissed on and shoved in their face. I can never understand the hordes of people who've never played the Fallout games, convinced the old fans have no clue what their talking about, and that seem to just irrationally want a Fallout game, even if it's in name only.
