you can get the 920's on ebay for $240, I was thinking of going to get a Phemon x4 940 3.0 BE but I'm sick or hearing AMD hate on this sitei7 platform is overpriced for the performance. You can get about the same framerate on most game with a Phenom II X3 720BE... or X4.
For the difference of price, you will... anyway, let's just put this straight...
DDR3 150$
X58 MB 300$
i7 cpu 300$
barebone config, around 800$...
If you have a budget, a x58 system is out of the question. It will cost you 2000$ to really have something that worth it with an i7. Save the money and buy yourself another graphic card to build a crossfire config.

I can build a really good i7 rig with a GTX285 for around $1500 US. Sooooo what?
First of all, investing on a CPU for gaming isn't smart, you should invest in GPU... like G for Graphic...
Save some bucks over the i7 and get yourself another 300$ graphic card!
Second of all... an image worth 1000 words... so all the idiots around running their mouth about PC building praising i7 core, check this out...
edit : You need to overclock your processor to gain... an incredilbe 5 FPS!

Buying expensive stuff on ebay is the worst idea on earth... you will know when you will get rip-off or you are going to pay the customs... or you are going to get an already opened product labeled as new while it is refurbished...
God knows I love ebay
By the way, the processor is not the problem, it's the ultra expensive x58 motherboard (300$ board... simply laughable) and memory (DDR3 only). The recent benchs showed that DDR2 to DDR3 is a marginal benefit unoticeable in games... you get about 1 fps for 100$...
[QUOTE="Redgarl"]X58 motherboards are xfire and sli compatiable lol, also if getting a system why not do it the smart way and future proof it? Instead of 6 months from now upgrading it with better componants. I have a great i7 rig and love it, and at the state that pc gaming is right now I will not have to upgrade for another year or so. I've beaten Crysis on Very High and there isn't nothig else out there that is going to push my system further for a while. So I always say if going to do it, then do it the right way the first time and be done with it. Also if TC already has a PS3/360 then I would definitly say get a PC gaming Rig, but once you do then your 360 want get much love lol.i7 platform is overpriced for the performance. Doing it right mean not wasting money over useless technologies. The i7 is a bad platform for gaming... why? because it cost around 500$ more to get about the same result in the most demanding games. The only exception are in games demanding lower graphical power... so instead of playing them in 1080p at 140 FPS, you are playing them at 160 fps... really useless since almost all the displays cannot render these speed and that the human eyes can barely see a noticeable difference at higher than 80 fps.
The best advice is... change platform, get an SLI or crossfire config on AM3, and save the rest for something else.

Intel is over rated amd does about the same for a lot cheaper most of the time. I really dont care about processors but i usually go amd if i have the choice.

And once more programs and games are actually optimised for a i7 setup you will see a dramatic boost in what a setup like that can achieve. People talking down about the i7 and a x58 motherboard but then go on and buy a nivida 295 just for a extra 10 fps lol. Also those same people don't realise a x58 motherboard most of the time gives you the ability to go either sli or xfire, which is pretty awesome aswell as turbo boost that ramps up your processor speed depending on the applications you are running, so a i7 920 at 2.66 may infact run a 2.9 ghz if needed. And then when going xfire you also have the choice of mix and matching ati cards of the same series. Such as doing a xfire setup with a ati 4850 hd and a ati 4870 hd gpu's. While going sli you have got to use the same card such as a nvidia 260 and another nvidia 260.
Going with a i7 and x58 motherboard definitly leaves the user with a whole lot of options, such as upgrading later for new processors and graphic cards. I definitly see a win win situation there for the user.
Only if you're into PC games. Otherwise it's a waste.Either 1st option or if you dont want the PC than go with the 4th option.Although 1st one is the best.

Id do 4. That seems the most fun. As much as i talk about how Mario Galaxy is one of the greatest games this genration. I still cant recomend a Wii, even with Mario. If theres other games that you want on Wii, then yeah, get it. Also, some sort of Crysis is coming to consoles. 4 just seems like id have the most fun with. But thats me.

I don't think any form of Crysis is coming to consoles. Crytek showed of a console tech-demo of the CryEngine 3 running a Crysis location, but that was to show the capabilities of the engine, not to show off a new game.
