[QUOTE="Planeforger"]I'm suprised that anyone is actually playing the game - you all just bought it for the Halo 3 Beta, right?
DPS3150

I have recently destroyed Crackdown and now I am just driving around doing all the race challenges and man am I tired. I have literally not slept since it came out. I have been going on for three days with barely three hours of sleep under my belt. This game was seriously underappreciated by the many. Honestly the beta for HALO 3 can kick rocks for all I care. I still think that Gears of War is better anyway. Halo 3 had better be everything that Microsoft is hoping for and more, because if it is anything like Halo 2; copied stages from Halo 1 with smoother textures, and basically one new weapon, one additional vehicle, and a story that just plain sucked. Oh I'm sorry the Halo2 Multiplayer pack fixed that. Sorry! rushed game and unsatisfied results. I dont know about you all but I expexted alot more from M$. I guess I am just one of the few that bought Crackdown just for Crackdown.

Nah I bought it just for Crackdown too, and I love it. I hated sandbox games because I got so tired of the same old same old. And this game has given the genre a breath of fresh air.

[QUOTE="DA_B0MB"]

And now my charachter is nearly fully upgraded in everything. I've been playing like this since yesterday. Yesterday was 5 hours straight, today it was 7 hours straight. All I can say is that this game was horribly robbed of a AA in my opinion. It really is a fantastically addicting experience. In two days I've collected 360 out of 500 (no pun intended) agility orbs and killed literally thousands of gang members. I want to go on but I'm just so darn tired.

Yes, I know none of you care so to entertain you mortals it's required I ask you a question or soemthing like that so... for those of you who HAVE crackdown do you think it deserved it's score of a 7.8 here at gamespot? I certainly don't. Based on GS's rating system I would have given it an 8.9. What about you guys?

Dr_DudeMan
It should have gotten atleast an 8.5. Its the best sandbox game ever. And hopefully future sandbox games will borrow from it and flesh out the idea further because it is excellent.

I played this game twice, and both times have been for at least three hours. The game really is a lot of fun, exceeding my expectations. It's my understanding that there will be more free content in the future, so we can keep putting down the gangs in our fully buffed state. I can't believe this honestly got a 7.8... I'm with you- 8.5.

I just got all the supply points in the first island and killed 3 bosses..loving this game so farpoopinloop32

Yep - me too.  Got the supply points and the first 3 bosses last night.  Wasn't that boss fight in the motorcross arena pretty wild?

Did any of you try to get to the top of the Agency Tower, yet, for the achievement?  I tried and couldn't make it, but in trying, I actually started to get vertigo.  Its never happened to me before playing a video game and it was freaking me out.  I don't know what it was, but the game made me feel like I was really close to falling off of a tall building.

I'm just a wuss.

So everyone is giving it a mid to high 8 rating. What would it have taken to push it over to 9.0 or above? A story? I don't mind that there isn't a story, personally... I like aimlessly wandering around shootin' dudes and getting more powerful. The real question is how much will I play it once I've maxed everything out?

The game has obvious flaws and is not really deep but who cares. It is a blast to play. I thnk it was under rated but not by a whole lot. Still a freaking blast to play.

I wouldn't say this is the best sandbox game ever - just not enough variation in the side quests and not enough interaction with the characters in the world.  That being said - I do think that this is the best game when it comes to emergent gameplay - where everything you do builds up your character's attributes.  As your character develops, new gameplay elements become available to you.  Great stuff.

A minimum 8.5.  Give me ANY multiplayer and its a solid 9.0.

I agree. The whole "climbing buildings" is awesome. Looking for ways to get higher and be creative. Simply put, this game rocks!

I think it is because it is kinda shallow, its fun but shortlived fun. If there was more to do to take advantage of your amazing powers then maybe.

I got to the top of the Agency Tower in the demo, with just three stars in Agility. I can sorta see what you mean. It's really tall.

Anyways, I'm probably going to get Crackdown at some point, because I really enjoyed the demo, but it's just a matter of when it happens. If I can get the Halo 3 beta with it, I'll do it soon, but otherwise, I'll probably wait a while before I pick it up. I don't have the money right now to get every game that I want.

The game is awesome. I played 5 hours on release and 6 hours yesterday. There are a ton of things to do in the game. Heck I spent 30 mins just trying to get to the top of the Agency tower to get an agility orb and achievement. I would have rated the game a 9.0. I can't imagine going back and playing GTA now that I have been able to jump from bulding to build, pick up cars, etc. GTA4 needs to do this stuff, otherwise I am going to be bored.

You need an agility of 3 and a bit of creativity, or an agility of 4.

Wow I think you have never played a GTA game or you just used cheats when playing it. This game is uber shallow compared to GTA games. GTA has tons of things to do, you cant finish it in 9 hrs unlike this game.

I found GTA almost as boring as most RPG's Crackdown has such a better pace with much more action its a way more fun experience then the last GTA

Yeah, I've only got 2 stars right now and got to the top of the lower "tower" but couldn't make the jump across to the second "tower".  Its tough just to get to that spot.

I just got done playing a 4 hour session of Crackdown in an attempt to forget that finals were today, and boy was I loving it. There was some people over at my apartment and they were cracking up as I was playing soccer with some vatos. Online co-op was kind of fun as well. I picked up the car my buddy was in and chucked him off a roof, then jumped off the roof and broke in the hood. Good times, good times.

no, it really is a good game. I don't have a lot of time to play games, and for the last two nights in the evening I sat down to play crackdown and both nights I played well past midnight. I honestly love this game. After the reviews I wasn't going to get but with the Halo 3 beta I decided to pick it up. I'm really glad I did because it's a great game.

Yea I got all the supply points too. and wow dude, I literally killed at least over 18 bosses... I've killed every single gang member that was in los muertos. Meaning for me los muertos doesn't exist any more. : l

They do, They will go hang around other gangs islands

I can agree with the GS review. 7.8 is a pretty good score because the game is truly relaying solely on it's enjoyable game play. In that respect I think it's a love it or hate it kind of game. Personally I love it but I can certainly see where there is room for debate. I would have agreed with Gamespot up to an 8.5 anything above that I feel would be a little too high. Things that I think could have pushed it over into the AAA status for me would be some "structured" missions as one poster commented with GTA. I think the back story has some pretty cool potential and if it was fleshed out a bit more that would have been a plus. It would have been great to have to tangle with other super powered nemesis. As the review stated, the citizens and other people in the world really do get kind of annoying, cleaning that part up would be cool IMO. Anyways, the point is this game has extremely solid gameplay and if you dig then you're going to really enjoy this game.

Try doing that from the top of the Central Point tower (in Shai-Gen territory). That's quite a bit of a long drop. Good for a laugh... and you might even get the shot putter achievement.

To me I think it is too short I beat it in a day in a half. When you beat the game it gives you the option to play with the crime on or off but no bosses. If you could play through again with all of your abitily that would have been much better. I still think gamespot's rating was good. You have to tip your hats off to mircosoft they planned and marketed this game just right, Because if I didn't have to wait for the Halo 3 beta This game would be right back up at EBgames don't get me wrong it was a great game but the replay value isn't that great to me.
