[QUOTE="KHAndAnime"][QUOTE="Nerkcon"][QUOTE="KHAndAnime"] I timed it. PC turns off just as fast, if not faster than both my PS3 and Xbox.

I'm calling you out on that. I want a video.

Video is uploading now. It's a little underwhelming, but then again, so is your argument.

Dude, this entire thread was a joke! I was reading my far back history one day and someone else mentioned this. I thought it had potential to be a funny thread. Relax dood!

I turn mine off because I see no point in leaving it on when I'm not in the house and nobody is using it and leaving it on is a fire risk.

[QUOTE="KHAndAnime"]Uhh, it takes less than 5 second to put a computer into standby and wake it up from stand by. Thread fails.Nerkcon
No it doesn't; An outdated and ignored feature is still a feature we can compare with. Consoles turn off better than PCs. And that's a fact. Sorry. :(

My ps3 takes 2 seconds, my PC takes 2 seconds :S just hold down the power button... and no... no risk, old wives tale.

If you're turning off your computer you're doing it wrong. Turning off and on your computer costs you more over the long run. The innitial boot up costs in power exceed the idled use of the computer over the night in sleep mode or something. It also adds more wear and tear on your parts. Vandalvideo
IS it the same for laptops?

One thing PCs can do that consoles can't is stay on all day without exploding.

Because you have to stand there and wait for your system to shut down? You cannot just tell it to turn off and walk away? :P

I honestly can't when I have used Steam that day. Sometimes I get the message 'ERRROR: Steam has failed to shut down! Do you want to force it to shut down?" It's really annoying. But ever since this thread I have put my computer to sleep mode instead of turning it off. It makes every so much easier in the morning! :D

Turn off in less than five seconds.Nerkcon
Close the lid on my laptop triggers its deep sleep mode i.e. less than 5 seconds. I could install AROS/IcAROS (AmigaOS clone for X86 PC) and shut it down like the old Amiga PC i.e. "pull the plug".

Never noticed but you're right ... My PC takes ages to load up and then shut down, My Xbox is instant and my PS3 takes about 5 seconds, and some odd bleeps.

I should sell my rig, it has failed me ...

Looks like hard disk or bloated OS issue.

PS; My laptop runs Windows 7 X64.

I'm rocking Windows 7 64x too. It takes about ... 30 seconds to fully loads up, and depending on what i've been doing about a minute to shutdown.

I rarely shut it down, maybe once every couple of months but still ...

Haha nice one. Just a question about this, but do all 360's turn off so abruptly? When I power down, it sounds like a power outage, sort of makes a sound. I appreciate how fast it shuts off though.

My Macbook is pretty damn fast at turning on and shutting down. Gives the PS3 and 360 a run for their money, if you measure the time it takes from turning on the machine to actually signing into XBL/PSN.
