I say good choice. I've started a lot of trends with my friends with the PS3 and PSP. When I got may PS3, 3 of my friends got one a week or two later. I got my PSP a year ago and now 6 friends got em.

You gotta figure this.

Microsoft, a software company, makes crap hardware, but a smooth running software.

Sony, a hardware company, makes amazing hardware, but not as good software (but not crap)

Your last point is complete fanboy-ism. TC, it's totally up to you but I would say dont trade 2 consoles for one.

If you don't want your Wii go for it. Same for 360.

Stores are supposed to give you the 2 for the price of one deal. Not the other way around.

I am looking into traqding my 360 and Wii into for a new PS3 slim. The PS3 is finally at a price point that makes a trade resonable and its games library really has my interest peaked. My question is what do you guys think I could get for a 360 Pro and a Wii at Gamestop. I also have Madden 10, Operation Flashpoint DR, Fable 2 and Mario Kart Wii.

I realize that I will be getting a bad value with the trade in, but I dont have any time in my life for more than one console. Im hoping that with games and system values, I can come close to being even on the trade. What do you all think?

A few things... (1) Would you miss any of those games you're trading in? Like really miss them? (2) Are there any future games on the Wii or 360 you're really looking forward to? If you answered No to both those questions, then you can answer this question... (3) Are there any games on the PS3 that you will really enjoy playing that have either been released or to be released? If you answered Yes to that question, then I believe you have some good reasons to sell your 360 and Wii. But IMO, I would only trade them in if I got enough credit to nab a PS3 along with 2-3 games. Thus, I suggest you sell your system on Ebay instead or post it in some local listings so that you can get more money.

The ignorant and fanboyish comments in here are beyond stupid. The guy said he really dont have time for more then one console. If he feels a ps3 can satisfy his needs then its his decision to make. And to the people saying the ps3 is a door stop, only has 5 worthwhile exclusives,etc... please get your heads out of your a$$.

You may get close to $400 or more for your trades. Im just guessing though.

Nope. Wii trade in price is around $80 trade-in credit and Xbox 360 is most definitely less than $100, although you can trade in your hard drive separately and the trade in values will depend on the hard drive capacity. You won't get much more than $200 if you're lucky for the systems themselves, although extra controllers and accessories can also be traded in. In the end it would require a pile of accessories and about 3-6 fairly recent games to exceed $350 in my estimate. Trade ins almost never exceed $180, and the receipt tape is always about 2 feet long (miles of trades). I'm not exactly an Xbox 360 or a Wii fan, but I would cling to those systems for dear life instead of trading it in to a blood sucking pawn shop. It's not in your best interest at all.

the best thing to do is sell the system on craigslist. then wait for a promotional for gamestop to do some reserves and other things, for a 360 and 12 games i ended up with close to $600. Its just a matter of patience and not running into gamestop because you NEED to be entertained.

about $150 for just the two systems plus a bit more for any extra contollers and games

keep them both and just add a ps3 because you will most likely regret trading those systems in for next to nothing

EDIT: looking over some of the responces in this thread is pretty shocking you guys are way overestemating what gs gives for trade ins... have you never traded things in there before???

i bet my estimate is only off by $20 one way or the other at most

I regret every console I've sold. Like you, I sold them to afford another console. Nes and games sold to get Snes, Snes and games sold to get N64 etc.

Difference here is you're going to get rid of two current generation consoles with upcoming games. Even worse idea.
