I Like Xbox Live as much as the next guy but honestly....

Im tired of being nickeled and dimed by Microsoft for things like themes and gamer pics, they should be free I Completely understand movies, bonus game content and tv shows having to be paid for, but why the hell do we have to pay for little pics and themes when we already pay $50/year for live? :(.

Funny thing is.. I have access to millions of Pictures to place on my dashboard and I don't pay a cent for em...

IMO when you buy a game you should get all the related content (Themes/gamer pics) free for that particular game. Then just have to pay for bonus content.

xbox live is still the superior service.....cross game friends list, invites, chat, msn messenger, tons of demos and videos / movies it. can you even invite a friend from another game on the ps3?

Yes, you can invite people on the PS3, just not if they're in a different game. But why would you? If my friend is playing another game, I will leave them alone, they obviously want to play that now, I'm not gonna drag them around and pepper them with invites that they don't want to join..lol

i never bother with any of that stuff, i just use xbl for multiplayer. but yea, i can see where this would get annoying

the only time i have ever bought anything off of xbl is when i got one of the cod2 map packs, every episode of gunslinger girl, doom, and castlevania sotn

I can on Resistance but its not available on all games like LIVE. PSN has alote they need to add still as i know LIVE is more convenient and has tons more content... but i just wanna play online so thats why i choose PSN. I might eventually give LIVE go at Gold though.

A lot of them are actually third-party content and there is a bunch of free content,even more than on PSN

I've thought the EXACT same thing for a while now.

Seriously how hard is it to create a few dashboard themes or gamer pics, not very is it the correct answer. Bundle a few with every game, get the intern at the development company to do them, should keep him busy for about 2 days.

I wish MS would give more customization options so where you can have multiple images on each board. Same with Gamer pics but I highly doubt that will ever happen.

Meh, PS3 > Xbox 360 in terms of themes and customization of the menu and its icons.

The 360 implements this better, but it is in no way unique. That particular feature is an advantage for 360 users ATM though.

Depends on the game, games like COD4 let you do it. Resistance let's you do it. It's becoming more widespread. And in those game YOU can pepper people with invites if you like. There are more, like PAIN from PSN, but I am just giving examples.

Yea man, i know what you mean, I own both a PS3 and 360 and honestly as much as i like live i think its a pure rip off.. pure and simple. There is no reason whatsoever why MS should charge for live.. NONE, they dont even have dedicated servers.. With PS3 you get user generated themes free of charge and those themes are sooo much better than the 360's themes. PS store now has a lot of demos for download so honestly there is no reason why live should cost anything.

I know the 360 die hard fans will come in saying "But but its only the 14 Cents a day" that is bull.. Sure it might seem as much, but when that does finally come that you have to renew and dish out another $50.00 for something that should be free instead of buying another game, it means everything in the world

There is alot of free content on XBOX Live.

I only have a silver account right now, and there are tons of things to download, I have gotten themes, a live 60 minute concert other video content, alot of demo's, free map packs and free cars for my various driving games, there really is alot they give away, AND you can create your own pics for your background, it would be nice if they had a way you could create your own theme

Xbox Live is very well done, and as everyone has said, is the most flushed out online system, you people may be whining about it, but I really enjoy it, I will be renewing my gold membership probabaly after xmas, we will see

I agree and would rather i didnt have to pay the $50 in the first place, but hey, atleast the online component is top notch. Until PSN reaches XBL quality, im gonna keep paying for XBL :P
