I love going on message boards and complaining about games I've never played

I saw some people here saying that Skyrim has better combat than the Souls games back when Skyrim was fairly new. I also saw people saying Super Meat Boy is a throw away platformer. I dont remember the exact words they were saying it sucked though.

There is no way you could play those games and make those statements with a straight face.

I don't think you have to play a game to criticize it. Like for example, by seeing any gameplay vid you can tell right away that Ninja Gaiden 3 was reduced to a button masher with QTE's... You don't need to play a game to tell if the graphics are bad or if you don't like its premise, etc.

That's cool, I get that, but that's really not what this topic is about at all.

I'm talking about people who adamantly CLAIM to have played said game (as to justify their "opinion"), but in turn say something so far off base that it renders their argument useless.

Boo on the Skyrim vs. Souls part, but WOW on the SMB part. That's one of the tightest platformers around.

Then again I've seen cows on this board talking like the Trials games where garbage. Some of them even thought they were racing games!:lol:

I know how that goes. I haven't been able to post my professional work online in 3 years! And I never have time for personal projects. It gets frustrating at times.

Sometimes even posting on this board makes NDAs tough because you see people arguing over speculation when you know the facts, but simply arent allowed to spill the beans.

Dont ever give into temptation though, I've seen people get blacklisted over the smallest, most insignificant leaks.

Some idiot named tenaka (Sp?) was trying to tell me XBLA and PSN games sucked. Then he went on about Halo sucked. I asked him over and over again if he ever played them and his response was something along the lines of "All of those games suck" and then went on about asking if I was someone from another website.

Hmm.. I dont think Tenaka is a troll for one reason. He gets trolled so easily by others. He doesn't understand the troll game very well.

But yeah, if he said all that then wtf? I guess I'd have to know the context of the discussion, but to simply cast a blanket statement on XBLA and PSN games like that is complete nonsense.

And I'm not a big fan of Halo, or shooters in general for that matter, but the games are usually pretty solid and they're good (even great) at what they set out to do.

If someone were to play Ninja Gaiden as a button masher they would not be able to develop an opinion ont he game because they wouldn't make it half way through the first level. They may not even make it past the first enemy.

I know this is tough for kids to grasp, but you cant just go and say any old random sh!te and hide behind the word opinion thinking that makes it right.

And where are you drawing this bias conclusion from? SMG2 is widely regarded as one of the best platformers ever created. The consensus on LBP is that its a charming game with cool creation tools and community features, but it is extremely weak in its floaty platforming mechanics. The mechanics are built that way to accommodate for the inaccuracies in user created levels. Its a design choice, but that doesn't stop the mechanics from being poor.

If you want to boil that down to opinion then fine, but its about as legit as saying Mortal Kombat 1 has better fighting mechanics than the best fighting games around.

I would agree how stupid it is that people claim something is better or worse saying it is "Their opinion* and play it off as facts or hide behind the saying *It's My Opinion* it may be your opinion but it doesn't mean game X is better then Game Y or Platforming is Better in this game then that game just because you said that. As a collective reviewers and consumers of different views and opinions can agree on which games are better or better at a specific thing, however it doesn't take a genius to realize if a game plays better then the other, or the controls feel better then the other game.

Like LBP for example, to say its better at platforming when compared to SMG is not true, however If one were to say LBP with its level editer can take advantage to create a more *Fleshed Out* platforming experience then I might be inclined to agree.
