I live in New Zealand.
The price of the Xbox360 American 1 year after Launch I belevie was $350-400?
So the PC is around $450-500 US.
So yeah.
Well I live in the Netherlands and over here a decent gaming rig is around 600euros (if you build one yourself) which is equal to 600$I live in New Zealand.

WHO CARES? The 2 are 2 totally differnt beasts. Why do people keep trying to compaire a console and a pc? Good grief, this junk gets old. Play what ever you want and quit B#^&n
Building a PC is only as expensive as you make it.
Evidently, you have to take into account the power/price ratio you're getting for your purchase. It's not a simple case of "cheaper = weaker" - you have to look for the best parts for the price you'll be paying.
Of course, that's assuming you actually care about budget constraints. Some people have more money than they could possibly spend, a gaming PC isn't going to worry those types one bit.
lol yup, sux for him, doesnt even care to break down this "$720"?well that's too bad for you
I paid 400 for my 360 @ launch
killerfist
Yeah us AU/NZ get ripped off when it comes to consoles and pcsdunnedlorUhh HANG ON DER! I live in Aus and know that we don't pay Close to that for a console. A decent PC here is around $1500 and a 360 isn't even close to that. More like $500 max??

I dont know why people make these kind of threads, value is in the eye of the consumer. People who wanna game on PC will and people who rather game on consoles will game on consoles. You won't convince anybody to change their mind by throwing out random prices, especially when consoles are currently ranging from 199.99-399.
You also don't factor in that most non PC gamers would likely have to pay for someone to put all of those pieces together.

The funny thing is, I have exactly those same specs (right down to the OS and GFX card, assuming it's a 640Mb card), and paid $1300 CAD last year. I got my 360 (60G) for $300 just over a month ago.
...so you have a PC that was just above average a year ago, want a cookie?
P.S. Just to be nice, I have to say I haven't had any problems running games really well for over a year, so cheers, looks like there's a sweet spot for a gaming rig specs nowadays :)
Why.......? :?You paid $720 for an Xbox 360? Haha.
They're 200 now, gaming PCs are roughly 3 - 5 times that. And that's building yourself. To be fair, I think only prebuilt PCs should be compared to consoles.

BTW TC is from NZ...... Prices are different there....

$1500? Absolute tripe. Seriously.
I paid $750 for mine last november......(re-used the case and DVD Drive and 160gb hdd).
Was roughly the same price as a PS3 at the time

Wow, so New Zealand is more expensive than my country (Argentina). And here I was thinking we were the ones getting raped in prices.
Congrats on paying $720 for a 360.
I recently bought a used GC for $1,550. We should join forces and form the good deals club.

Thing is you dont need a decent gaming rig to compete with a 360, buy a $280 dell, put in a $80 graphics card, and viola, you have a PC with better graphics and better online than a 360.

So that is what you meant. Be more specific the next time around so confusion doesn't attack me for massive damage.

hehe no worries:)
It would be a good deal if it weren't for the fact that you'll have to upgrade your PC again before the new Xbox is out :(MegaManZXY
Just like how it is optional to buy games for the Xbox 360, it is optional to buy games for the PC. Just like how an Xbox 360 gamer can choose whether or not to purchase an Xbox Live subscription, a PC gamer can choose whether or not to upgrade the hardware of the PC they game on.

that's nice. i spent 2500 on my rig and it still doesn't play Crysis at max detail with a decent framerate :).
so yeah, if you want high-end PC performance with things cranked you do need a more pricey rig - and definitely a better GPU than the 8800GTS, heh.
and your pricing is off and fails to list mobo, case, fans, PSU, optical drives, etc.
nice try though.

skrat_01
Because these magical $600 PCs that run Crysis aren't bought in a shop. They're custom built from hand picked parts. It's BS to just compare the money it cost to a consoles cost, while ignoring the time and effort of building it. I got my 360 prebuilt off a shelf in 30 secs, and was playing at home within 5 mins. You can't do that with PCs.
That came out a little more ranty than intended.... But you get the idea :P

....so?You head to the hardware forums, have people suggest parts, head down to a well priced hardware store, and have them assemble the computer for you.
Why ignore one of the platforms strengths?
Personally I enjoy building my computers myself, but of course plenty friends of mine have the stores build theirs, simply as they like it pre built...

Don't waste your time skrat, we prefer pc gaming, they prefer console gaming.
We play in different worlds :D
