I kid, I kid. :P
But seriously, that's pretty terrible.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I remember several lemmings on the internet fighting hard about how Natal was not smoke and mirrors and that it was the revolution in gaming. Now only ProjectNatalFan is left :Pkuraimen
Even ProjectNatalFan is wavering on the fact that Kinect will probably fail harder then the Powerglove. :P
[QUOTE="bloodlust_101"][QUOTE="Wings_008"]really?, really? are you that bored, i call BS on this one Wings_008Im just waiting for my laundry to finish at this point so I could head to school. Im just giving my experience on Kinect in my spare time. Nothing exaggerated, and Im even trying to keep the discussion as clean as possible. Have you had a chance to play Kinect yet? no, but im waiting for it to arrive at a local store to try it out MY SELF!
Man people like you are annoying. Get over yourself. If you want to waste your money and buy a crap product go ahead. The thread starter is merely giving his opinion. I swear some of you fanboys' loyalty is ridiculous.
So me and my friends were walking downtown today when we noticed Microsoft rented out a building for a kinect showing. Having nothing to do we went in to test it out.
What was there:
Kinect Sports
Kinect Adventures
Kinectimals
Kinect Racing
Kinect Fit (?)
Kinect Dancing gameAlright, so heres how it went:
Kinect's games were clearly casual - so significantly that I dont remember any console game with a controller being this casual. Nothing was deep in any way.Bowling almost played itself when you actually aligned to the 'purposely angled camera' (Came in 3rd in the tourny for the entire night, Dr. Awesome).
Kinect Adventures - we had the most fun with this one actually. It wasnt deep, and it probably wont have any lasting appeal, but we played it twice and I accidently smacked my friend across the face thinking we were further apart (based on the characters on screen).
Kinectimals - no, you cant kick the tiger. You cant beat him, you cant do anything harmful. Most of the actions didnt make sense and the only things we did that worked were purposely acting retarded or gay Jazz hands seemed to make the tiger do a 2 legged stand for some reason.
Kinect Racing - dry humping the air makes you go faster. The controls were very strange some times, with turning not being as precise as it should be.
Kinect fit - didnt play
Kinect Dancing game - We got half way through funky town before stopping. We just felt retarded to be honest - didnt help that we sucked at the game. We got points for actions not even close to what we were supposed to do - and our timing was just awful on top of that.
Kinect Sports - Bowling I mentioned - but it was nowhere near as bad as ping pong. You really had little control over where the ball goes or the power. completely missing the ball still counted as a hit - and sometimes swinging way too early worked too. Some motions werent even registered.Kinect - It was laggy, buggy, and very very imprecise. The cursor would have some acceleration and great lag - so just accessing the menu was broken sometimes. It would often mistake my friends hand for mine when they went to close and the cursor would jitter around the place. Im sure we all predicted this.
Overall its heavily casual, imprecise, laggy, and not very efficient. Its not hypable - and there doesnt seem to be many hard core uses for it. That said, we had some fun with it but we dont expect the fun to last long.
Ps. Oreo cakesters suck.
bloodlust_101
Yeah, that's pretty much what I expected.
I still think it's going to sell to all the casuals unfortunately.
are they final games, or are they saying that they are early versions of the game they are using as demos
Are you in Toronto by any chance? Because I saw them putting up Kinect sign around an empty store a while ago. Anyways, I think Kinect is gonna suck but we'll have to wait and see what they can do with it.poseidonwestYep, said so earlier in this thread :P Check out the store now - its been microsofted.
He also played half life and said killzone 2 was better and the best fps ever. I understand people have opinions, but jeeze, this is like saying susan boyle is the hottest woman ever, and even hotter then pamela anderson.
Ill agree with what your hating. In my honest opinion, Killzone 2 is the best first person shooter I have played. I have played: COD 2, COD 3, Modern Warfare 1/2, Halo 1/2/3, Black, Half Life 1, Portal, Half Life 2 *But I havent really played te single player or online or anything, Im just designing architecture in the game world*, Perfect Dark Zero, Golden Eye Rouge Agent, Killzone 1, UT 2004/07/older versions, Duke Nukem 3d, Quake, Wolfenstein, Counter Strike, FEAR, Red Faction, Resistance Probably more that I forgot. But I will honestly say I liked killzone 2 much more than all of those. The feel of the game, the control, the weapons, graphics, animation, ai, character design (except rico) just clicked with me. Of course the individual parts may be beaten by certain games, however as the sum of its parts I cant think of a game that tops it. I love that it doesnt have autoaim or bullet curve online, I love the balance, I love the weapons and game modes. I love entering a game and not seeing a single camper. New features which arent in other fps as far as I know: First Person Cover and peaking Warzone mode Badge mix n match for class based gaming Balance radical values... Snipers, which have a 1 hit kill riffle, can turn invisible, can spot every enemy in their view and mark them so you can see them no matter where they go - and still have sniper not overpoweredbloodlust_101

Hmm, ill give you the benefit of the doubt i guess. I cant exactly prove you didnt use it. im very curious to see reveiws of this thing when it hits.
[QUOTE="Keiji993"]Everyone knows Kinects hardware is garbage compared to Move. Their going to know the games as simple and easy as possible so casuals can have fun and not notice the lag and inaccurate controls.bloodlust_101Dont bring move into this thread please? I also played Move a while ago and the games were also pretty horrible - not as bad but horrible nonetheless. The hardware is worlds better at this stage though. --- And I know people are saying things like firmware updates and software updates to kinect - but I am not talking about any of this, Im only saying what I saw, what I played, the games that were there, and the disheartening RARE logo.on the bowling and ping pong games. This is system wars. How else did you think this thread was going to turn out. Everyone is going to praise the move now.

haha, While I dont think I said Killzone 2 was the best fps ever as fact (as we see in what I wrote), I DO remember saying in my opinion Killzone 2 was the best fps I have ever played (also as we see). I love Killzone, what can I say :P Are you going to tell someone their feelings towards a game are wrong when I myself brought up my reasons? What your saying is a bit wrong, its not like saying Susan Boyle is the hottest woman ever, its saying: In my opinion Susan boyle is a better singer than Jessica Simpson. That said, pam is ugly as ****.He also played half life and said killzone 2 was better and the best fps ever. I understand people have opinions, but jeeze, this is like saying susan boyle is the hottest woman ever, and even hotter then pamela anderson.

I tried Kinect at the Msoft store here in Scottsdale. Definitely had some lag in games but overall was fun. My kids and I will have a blast playing. Also, the games are very energetic and do get the heart pumping quite a bit. I can deal with lag in games like this but I don't think we will see any complex games using this control scheme till they nail the software down.
Day one purchase still for me. I have said all along that Kinect will be a hit because it is different than the move and wii.

thats cool.. i did say it was fun. but you won't be playing the device by yourself for sure. does not have that appeal.
The OP's experience is exactly how I predicted. It's interesting how the best Ping Pong game ever made is on the PS Move, and the worst is with the Kinect.
The Move already has a reputation for being relatively low latency and being really accurate. The Kinect's reputation is the exact opposite. :P
I see people... instead of breaking their TVs, they will be breaking their friends and family's noses.
**** happens :PI see people... instead of breaking their TVs, they will be breaking their friends and family's noses.

Your nuts - we couldnt even finish them - and we LOVE candy (We have to, we are college students, its the only thing we can eat on long periods of time in the library). The cookie part had a weird textures, and the cream was too light. Look at a Cupcake from hostess to see how its SUPPOSED to be done :P We ended up smashing them.I call BS because you mention that Oreo caksters suck. They are amazing.

They're alright, if I'm gonna eat Oreos, I'll eat the original thank you very much.I call BS because you mention that Oreo caksters suck. They are amazing.

Kinectimals - no, you cant kick the tiger. You cant beat him, you cant do anything harmful.Raymundo_Manuel
You wouldn't beat a tiger in real life
So, it's good to hear they added a bit of realism to the game :P
I'm pretty sure you'd have a difficult time trying to tickle one in real life :P
Pretty much, but what I am not sure of is how long that fun will last..As bad as the software, lag, accuracy, etc. seem to be, the thing that really sticks out to me when I read user impressions, is that at the of the day they had fun. I don't have the crystal ball most SW posters have, but I think it's going to be a success for MS.

Sounds about right!
Forget Kinect this topic is now about Oreo! No but seriously, i'll always feel this whole motion sensor technology is just not needed right now. I like my controller thank you.
Oh and that "Kinect in 3 pictures" thing made my day.
