5 years ago (and you can search my posts), when the PC gaming was in it's prime, during the time that time when WoW and HL2 were sure to come out, PC gaming was at its peak. It seemed nothing could stop it, but the sales were beginning to decline. I correctly predicted 5 years ago. Here were my predictions:

-Piracy would put a big dent into PC gaming now that broadband is widely available
-PC gaming would become a niche industry
-No more really big exclusives besides RTS
-Sales will continue to decline big time.

All of this came true, like I said you can search my prior posts.

Now it's time for you to listen, because I can predict this stuff correctly:
State of consoles -

Wii on top, 360 2nd and PS3 next.
Wii will continue to be king and the preferred casual console that most people in America will buy,
360 sales will start to decline because PS3 will seem like a better deal when the inevitable price cuts will come and more people will start wanting BluRay,
At the end of the generation it will look something like this:
Wii - 1st place, distant 2nd - PS3, not far behind 3rd place 360.

Mark my words and remember this day when you read this post.

Reasonable prediction I guess. But PC gaming is still quite alive. Because many games have paid more attention to online, this feature makes it difficult to pirate.

I deal in predictions not opinions.
And PC has already fallen.. look, all you have are the basic multiplats, some crappy games out of Europe, and some bad RTS games.
I consider that failure.

Not really. Not even one could count as "correct prediction". All are either false or were as much true 5 years ago as they are now, thus they fail at being "predictions" considering you predicted they would happen.

Did you read the other thread on the PC Gaming Industry earning 11 billion in 2008.

This proves that:

- PC gaming is not a niche industry

- Sales are still strong

I now link you to Adrian Werner's "reasons why it's worth to be a PC gamer", which will show you all 2009 exclusives, going back to 2006, and forward to 2010.

Whilst pirating did put a dent in the PC gaming industry, this list proves that developers are not shying away from the platform.

Lastly, it also disproves your prediction on no more big exclusives apart from RTS.

Hah, 11 billion? You're insane.
It's under ONE billion, the last place of all the consoles, even worse than PS2.
Now that's sad.

I agree whole heartedly with the TC..... well almost, I still think the PC is going to be a viable gaming platform, but as time goes on, consoles will become more and more like them, leaving the PC with less and less of what made them special in the 1st place....

We are seeing this already with the inclusion of HDD's and Online, becoming mandatory for Consoles..... and now we have installs on consoles.... next gen will make another leap toward Consoles becoming PC's. I'm okay with this though, as I'd much rather sit on my bed or sofa and play games on a 40"+ screen with a controller in hand, than sitting on a comp chair, 2 feet away from a 21" monitor.

Exactly, which is exactly why PC is dying.

Why do you need a PC when you can get a cheaper, better graphics, and more user friendly console?

Soon there will be no need for PC gaming..

What an ingenious way to start a thread;

"I was completely wrong on my last prediction, but I totally won't be this time!"

Yeah yeah, PC gaming is in its last death throes once more for the 15th year in a row. Got any other gems for us, Nostradamus?

That 'user-friendliness' is what differentiates console gamers from PC gamers. PC gamers get more out of their games because they have more options and control in regards to how they play. That is the main reason why I prefer PC over consoles. The rest of your post is bad flamebait and shouldn't be taken seriously. Troll harder.

Piracy was an even bigger problem 5 years ago. PC gaming hasnt fallen. It has grown, thanks to services like steam, faster connections and cheaper hardware.

All your figures would probably include stuff like Bejewelled, and if you call that gaming, may god have mercy upon your soul.

And let me be the first to say LOL NICE SHOPPING CARD BOX!

Casual games are mainstream though, there goes your "bu..bu..niche" complaining. Plus recently plenty of casual games on PC would count as hardcore by console standarts.

Lets touch on your predictions... 1. Piracy - There was piracy back then as well. Glad you could predict the sun would come up in the morning. 2. Niche Market - Steam and WoW kind of make that comment look silly. 3. No Big Exclusives - Crysis and WoW say hello. And why disregard an entire genre? Because it hurts your argument? 4. Declining Sales - There is proof of a decline in retail sales but no one is counting all of the DD sales, internet sales, and so forth. While there was a 14% decline in retail sales in 2008 for PC the revenue actually went up. http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=21908 Go back to your day job.

Garric001

Exactly, which is exactly why PC is dying.

Why do you need a PC when you can get a cheaper, better graphics, and more user friendly console?

Soon there will be no need for PC gaming..

funny how you only respond to the post that may in some way help your point and completely disregard the ones that destroy it. As long as there's such a thing as minimum requirements, PC gaming will never die. If you just want to play the game, why buy a console when you can get it for your outdated rig and just lower the video settings? I have Prince of Persia 2008 running on my media laptop and was able to enjoy the game because all I had to do to get it to run was lower the resolution a little. The game still looked good and was completely playable. And if you consider the people that enjoy maintaining their rig and OnLive(gives people with weak rigs access to HD games), it becomes quite obvious that PC gaming won't die for a good, long time. This topic fails.

[QUOTE="lundy86_4"]

Garric001

Hah, 11 billion? You're insane.
It's under ONE billion, the last place of all the consoles, even worse than PS2.
Now that's sad.

11 Billion is Under One Billon??? lmao
