I think people , even the Gamespot staff expect something good when you spend 500+ dollars on somethingPS3_HOME_ALONE
That's, IMO, the biggest problem for most people here and elsewhere, all except die hard cows.
Now die hard cows may think Blu-Ray, Cell, RSX, RFOM, VF5, Multimedia and now PSH justify the $600 price, but what go over their heads or what they ignore is the fact that most people with a common sense or a life simply winces at that price simply because there're nothing in PS3 that justify it. For example, me. Right now, with my spending money, I can buy a dozen or two PS3 easily without a worry. But will I? The answer is no. Why? Read up on those 10 points! If Sony want me to Shellout that $600, they better give me not just one good reason, but several! No, Blu-Ray, Cell, RSX, Multimedia features and PSH are NOT the reasons for me to shell out those mullahs. VF5, R:FOM ARE the reasons. But those two lonely games aren't nearly enough! I need more. At least around a dozen or so more reasons akin to VF5 and R:FOM in order for me to buy one and so far the PS3 doesn't have them
X360? Yea, totally worth it. GeoW, F.E.A.R, Saint's Row etc are all major reasons. Why? At $400, I expected less but still more because it's over $100 more than what I expected. But right now MS is devlivering stuff on that extra $100 and I feel it's justified.
The Wii? Worth it! Why? Because first of all, at $250. to me I'm gettting a bargin! I can just take the machine home, pop in Wiisports and play! Then there're games like Zelda, Rayman, Warioware, SSX etc that more than justify that $250. Cows can scream, "Bu...Bu....The gimicka.....The ancient tech" all they want, but to me, I don't care! I go where the good games are and so far, Wii is offering me them at a bargain price of $250! Which is far more than I can say about the PS3!
So, in the end, it all comes down to price for me. For $600, Sony have to offer at least 4x the amount of value in return in order for me to shell out that kind of money for a CONSOLE, which in the past, have never exceeded $300 (any that does goes instantly on my ignore list). $400 for a X360, less so. But still need more to impress me cause that's still $100 over what I'm expected. But since MS is delevering, I have no complaints. Wii? To me a steal! $250 for Wiisports, Zelda and all the great games now and later means an instant purchase for me. So what if the online right now is a mess, can't play DVDs, multimedia features are dumb? There're sacrifaces needed to bring the cost down to that and I can live without them. You trade one thing for another and right now, I'd trade CEll and Blu-Ray for a $400 PS3 60GB version easily! So, there you have it! Cows are just going through their MAd cow diesease for nothing because they can't seemingly understand that people who are not cows have issues with the PS3.
