I kind of have to chuckle at those here claiming that developing exclusively on PS3 is financial suicide for game companies while developing exclusively for 360 makes all the sense in the world. Are people starting to forget how MS has lost quite a few 1st-party companies rather recently? Where was their big payoff from developing on the "financially superior" console? And why weren't MS's insanely deep pockets able to keep them afloat?nervmeisterAgree somewhat. I think it's foolish for 3rd party devs to make exclusives for 360 as well. Your leaving money off the table and that doesn't make sense anywhere.
Now Im not saying this out of fanboyism I just believe it would benefit the 3rd party developers as well as the games industry. This gen PS3 has really hit the mark on console gaming delivering titles that leave it's competitors looking with envy. When you see the multiplat games majority of them do not do the system justice, in the 2 years PS3 has been in the market Sony has released many tools to aid 3rd party developers. Now I don't know about you guys but I don't think the devs are using these tools since crappy ports still exist. If every 3rd party dev made an exclusive it would help them better understand the system so they can reach the heights of KZ2, MGS4, U2 etc in various areas.
Rockstar are very smart, they knew while making GTA4 that PS3 has ALL these benefits which they are not using due to creating a multiplat title, Im sure Agent is going to blow the mind of gamers with it's HUGE scale. I wholeheartedly believe it will be the successor to GTA.Swift_Boss_A
how about devs make a great game, period?
[QUOTE="PAL360"]and let's not forget KZ 2 had a 4 year development and an alleged budget of 60 millionYou make it sound like PS3 exclusives look miles better than everything else on the market. Excluding KZ2 and U2, all the other PS3 exclusives look just as good as most multiplats.
kolkov01
lol thats the budget for GT5. KZ2's budget was 20 million

no, it was 60m also[QUOTE="DragonfireXZ95"]No they shouldn't. Every dev should make at least 1 exclusive PC title. :Pz4twenny
yeah because there arent enough FPS/RTS/MMO's/WRPG on pc's already
why should all third party devs make exclusive games for the PS3 when it may not even sell very well, when it can perform better on something like the Xbox360 and PC?
How about we try and get ME and Conviction on the PS3 first ehh? :P
Yes. It totally makes good financial sense to develop an exclusive title for the console with the smallest installed base, the highest development costs and the most technically complex hardware.
This needs to happen.
[QUOTE="Parasomniac"]The big thing is 360's lack of disc space. They always try fitting everything on one disc otherwise they pay extra royalties and that makes them leave out content.mythrolYeah. I mean totally. Just look at Oblivion. Or Fallout 3. Or Dragon's Age. Or Tales of Vesperia. I mean total lack of content just to fit on 1 disc. AMIRITE?!?!?! You mentioned TOV. Have you heard what they're doing with the PS3 version? I'm betting all those games you mentioned could have had more content without 360. Not that they're bad but still. GTA IV too. Just imagine a PS3 exclusive GTA this gen, it would be completely awesome. That's the only way they can pull off San Andreas if they want to go back there.
If Sony want's significant exclusives then they will have to make some pretty good deals 3rd party devs or make it clear to them why they should make exclusives for the PS3.
-they'll pay for DLC like Microsoft did.
-reveal to them there is a segment fof users who enjoy a particualr genre on the platform.
-give them better support- hardware, software and service???
I don't know- how do you entice a third party dev to make an exclusive just for your PS3 system, especially when multiplats generally do better on the

If you only think about graphics, then your logic is distorted beyond reason.
Essentially, every developer should be going after the PC since it's ALWAYS ahead.
Try something I like to call gameplay out, it's quite nice.
I see what you mean, I just feel this gen devs are really not putting effort with PS3 versions though it has been stated many times that PS3 should be the lead platform for multiplat titles because if its the other way round the PS3 version always end up suffering. Just saying that if devs like Capcom and Activision create an exclusive game for PS3, maybe if Sony lends a hand then they will better understand the PS3 architecture so future multiplats are equal on both systems.
There are many low budget Ps3 games? Your point?Because all developers have enough cash to make PS3 games right?

Right. Well, unfortunately developers and publishers are interested in sales, not in what Sony and their fans would like.Cherokee_Jack
Haha that's true, reason why I mainly support devs who are not motivated by money when creating games.

all devs are interested in money and survival, except for those that aren't and they aren't around anyone more. You'll have to tell me some of those devs sometime. They seem like swell guys.[QUOTE="Swift_Boss_A"][QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"]Right. Well, unfortunately developers and publishers are interested in sales, not in what Sony and their fans would like.blue_hazy_basic

I reckon every hot female with full lips and nice hips should sleep with me. Much like your reckoning, we're both in lala land.

So you support...none of the developers and publishers in this industry then? :?I think that PS3 owners should be counting their blessings that 3rd party developers are making games for their platform still, especially when they don't exactly selling as well as 360 versions of games do.
Going PS3 only would be financial suicide for them.
Ok i can stand(because it is true)that cows say KZ2 and Uncharted 2 look incredible...but WHAT is with that they are always trying to put MGS4 with them???Anybody who understands graphics on technical level or is not fanboy KNOWS that MGS4 is nothing special,it just isn't...There are tons of multiplats looking better, hell it is not even HD...meh
And on the subject...no...it takes alot of time and a lot of money...and they aren't selling that well...plus its pain in the ass to program in short amount of time soooo NO...

and yet they sell and sell well I may add. Look at MW2 for example, sure it sold 3 times as much on the 360 but the game still sold well on the PS3 (2nd place in top 10)even though it was heavily advertised for the 360 along with other perks. I can see that you are not aware of the gaming market outside of America, don't worry most System warriors are not. In Europe games like Fifa and Pro Evo sell a lot better on the PS3, it's all about the Worldwide market and you will see that PS3 games sell very well.
Oh and about the financial suicide, I mean it's not just with the PS3 but also 360. Can you name me a 3rd party exclusive for the 360? No because 3rd party exclusives are dead this gen unless Sony or MS fund the projects.
Maybe but not all third party devs are ND,Kojipro, and GG who have massive budgets.Adrian_CloudAs in ND and GG you mean Naughty Dog and Guerrilla Games?
If you do Sony pays for their games since they are both owned 100% by Sony. Kojima Productions makes sense but not the other two.
Right. Well, unfortunately developers and publishers are interested in sales, not in what Sony and their fans would like.Cherokee_Jack
Of course Developers and publishers are interested in sales- It's a business.
So why arn't PS3 owners buying exclusives in droves?
You hear UC2 being game of the year, being touted graphics king etc...
Why isn't Sony marketing the heck out of exclusives?
where it the effrot to secure more DLC for games?
If you are a developer why would you want to make an exclusive on a system, when you can do it with the Xbox360 where more Xbox360 owner will buy the game.
