I Renounce My Nintendo Fanboyism

I've always loved Nintendo. When the Wii first came out I was the first to arrive outside St John's market in Liverpool waiting for them to open the doors so that I could finally get my Wii. I also had an undieing hatred for Sony. However, nearly 8 months on, I've decided I'm not gonna stick with just Nintendo alone, and I'm not gonna hate on Sony anymore either.

One reason is that I'm sick of all these Brain Training and Mini-Game compilations etc, I want a game for the Wii where I can sit down for hours and play it, and IMO I don't think there's been a Wii game like that since Zelda. Galaxy looks awesome, and yes, so does Brawl, but they're not coming out for a while, so why only support one console and limit your choices? Being a Nintendo fanboy alone means you're missing out on seriously great looking titles on botht the PS3 and 360.

Metal Gear Solid 4, Resident Evil 5, Army of Two, Halo 3, Grand Theft Auto IV, Call of Duty 4, Rock Band, Assassin's Creed...The list goes on.

And look at some of the games that are already out; Gears of War, Resistance: Fall of Man, Viva Pinata, DiRT, Motorstorm, Guitar Hero 2...All brilliant titles.

I'm not saying that the Wii's games are bad though. Whilst I'm sick of the Mini-Game compilations etc, there are some brilliant games out now; Warioware, Rayman Raving Rabbids, Red Steel, Excite Truck, Twilight Princessetc....

So basically what I'm trying to say is...Don't be a fanboy. All 3 consoles are great and all 3 consoles have great games coming for them. So again, why limit yourself? If the 3 Companies wanna go to war with each other, that's fine. It just means more and better games for us :)

Nobody who loved the PS2 will settle for the Wii this gen.

the ps2 didnt have much going for it but rpgs and rez evil, wii has alot, smoath moves is fun, super paper mario, vanguard, TP, wii sports, its much better than the ps2 lineup, and its more fun to play

IMO the 360 is the devil, and i hate Microsoft, and most of its fanboys. but the console its self, and its selection, had(has) great potential, once the idiots that make the thing can get some reliable hardware for it.

But the wii has no excuse for its shortcommings outside of Nintendo either being lazy, or selling out. Most likely the later (you don't build a huge gaming empire on being lazy). I will probably never own a wii, I sure as hell will never buy one.

I love my PS3, and Sony has yet to give me a real reason to dislike them to the point of no return. They have done some really stupid crap, but they show a good bit of humility, and they don't *always* go shoving their "numbers" around (case in point: E3 '07. Microsoft flung a bunch of numbers and crap at us, Sony just showed us games, and their new stuff.).

But anyway, back to the point, Wii IMO is on a downhill slope. It's losing momentum with the hardcores, and thats going to cost them dearly. GO ahead you sheep, and try to flame me "OMG NINTENDO LOVES US". Thats fine. You just enjoy your wii, I am (truely) glad you are satisfied with your purchase, and I hope it brings you many times of great happy fun time.

I, however, will prefer to stick to the current gen of gaming.

Our way is not for the faint of heart. We are in a time of difficult transition. Acceptance ofour new, 'casual' bretheren is tough, but necessary. We only hope that you keep the memory of Nintendo's golden era close to you as move into another world. May we meet again under better circunstances.

But seriously, its too bad that you will renounce Nintendo completely. I mean, sure its not for everyone but the games they make are still of top notch quality and fun. Just don't go missing out because its got Nintendo on the side.

I haven't renounced it completely, I still like Nintendo's games. I love Mario Kart DS and Warioware, and I'm looking forward to Brawl and Galaxy.I'm just not gonna supportonly Nintendo anymore. I just don't see the point.

I loved the ps2 and at the moment I'm perfectly happy with my wii and don't plan to buy another console.
