So just like any other highly reviewed and hyped game...it starts out great, everything is new and it feels like the game will last a long time. Well it didn't end up that way really. I can say the single player campaign is just a novelty and a waste of time. Why is it a waste of time? Well because the gameplay isn't very fun. Picture it anyway you want, but it is ultimately a 2d sidescroller and I have been done with those every since I sold my Sega Genesis when I was a kid. So the biggest part of a game(gameplay) isn't all that great, that poses a big problem with me actually liking it. Been trying the level editor and it is really cool to use and it's great how simple they made it, but at the same time can be very in-depth.

I finished making a level and I played in it. A problem came up, while the gameplay was still boring, the other bad part was I already knew the level inside out since I made it...so where does the actual fun come in? Well the actual fun is making levels rather then playing in them. The actual fun is, downloading other peoples' creations and seeing what they've made instead of actually playing the game. So what is this...a game? Well if you call this a game then you honestly have poor taste because I don't see where the fun is. I just don't understand how people can be having a fun time actually playing this game. I can even see the level editor getting dry and soon it will be a very forgettable game. Well good thing I rented it.

sackboy cant even double jump or even do a basic attack. The creation is amazing but the actual platforming gameplay is among the most shallow in platforming history.

Sounds right. Have to play it though, but looking at videos, the platforming aspects look boring and not that fun. Incredible presentation though and insane creation

look for other user created levels. that is where the game shines at. I Hope by the time I get a PS3 and LBP there will be a lot of good level for me to play.

To each his own opinion, we all have different preferences. I play the game everyday. I don't create levels because all my ideas are done better by others online and the 4 player co-op is fun.

I think the game is great, however I have to admit that some of my excitement went away after publishing my first level. I still like it a lot and want to experiment with more level creations, but it's not quite as super addicting as I thought it would be.

Thanks for the advice. I'm glad LBP got delayed because I would've impulsed bought it. Now all the unnecessary hype has vanished in a quickness, renting this game or even waiting till it goes on the bundle bin or sales bin, is the best choice to get the game.

I'll probably even ask somebody to get it for me as a gift because I would rather spend my money on other better games out there.

I say blog it.

But, in the spirit of the topic, I have to agree with you. I have had second thoughts about this game since the day I bought it. Some days it is an amazing game, others it is just boring. To me it is an average game at best and is not what people make it out to be.

I've been playing games with level creation since the C64 days (Lode Runner, Racing Construction Set, etc) and its always the same: its cool, but it wears thin after awhile.

What you say makes total sense.

I didnt believe that the game would be that great. I purchased it anyway, and its nice. I dont believe that the game can sell consoles (not that they marketed it that way), but Its a good step into the future. If you enjoy games in general, the LBP is great. If your looking for a game to scratch your psychopathic itch by slaying 100,000 zombies/terrorist etc. This is not the game for you.

It's funny. I was just about to type how Sony hasn't advertised this game at all. As I was typing it a Littlebigplanet commercial came on.

:P

Sony should have advertised the hell out of this game though.

IMO...thats ONE of the differences between the PS3 and the 360. Marketing and Advertising products.

Well, I guess Gamespot and the 30 or so reviewers who've praised the game should all quit their jobs because they apparently had fun with it and felt it deserved a 9.0 or higher.:|

Littlebigplanet is a sidescrolling jump'n'run? And nobody told us??

Really, though: what did you expect? Didn't you watch any of the gameplay clips? Wasn't that obvious from the start?
Alright, so you may not like 2D platforming games ever since you "grew out of it" (heck, I still find myself playing the jump'n'run games from 15+ years ago cause they were so much fun).

Personally, I think it's great to have a game like that again.

And to have people investing time, thought and creativity to create some fun levels to play through... I think that's fantastic (quite sure to be one of those soon as well).

To each his own, I guess?

Clearly they should since that's how I feel. Besides, if you take reviews so seriously that it would ultimately effect the way you feel about a game...then you have a problem.

That's what I was talking about in my post above. Why can't you admit that this is a great game for most but not for you? Not every game is for everyone, man. And no, reviews don't decide whether I purchase a game or not.

i can somewhat see what you guy are talking about when you say that the platforming aspect of it is shallow. While i don't agree fully, i can see why people would say this. Actually, the most fun i ever had with this game was the co-op. The co-op alone is well worth the 60 bucks. When i 1st played the game, i was thinking that while this is a very unique platformer (in the visuals anyways) i really can't see why the hype for this game was so high, but when my buddy grabbed the 2nd controller and the co-op was engaged, i was literally kicking myself for not hyping this game before. The co-op is just THAT awesome!!! I wish i can play it more, but every since Motorstorm: PR came out, I've been on that game NON-STOP

Listen to this guy. The co-op is amazing. You know the little things you can do, like dancing, slapping, waving, and emotions? That all serves such a subtle yet incredible purpose. For the first time, you can really express yourself in a game, and run around and have fun with another person. My girlfriend and I play this game for hours at a time! It is so much fun; my gf couldn't get up this one ledge, she kept falling short, so I walked to the edge, she jumped, and before she fell short again, I grabbed her in the game with the R1 button, and pulled her up to the ledge! I don't know what you guys think about that, but I find little things like that amazing. This game, I love it.

Each to their own. I spent over 60 hours of my life on the LBP beta and still couldn't get enough of it. The only thing that worries me about LBP is that I'll never want to play any other game ever again. Only 2 days left before release day... just 2 more days...

I agree that the platforming is somewhat shallow, but I like it. The single-player campaign is enough of a challenge that I don't really care (the last few levels, anyway). I love the game. To each his own, I suppose.
