I rented LBP and it stinks.

The gameplay is deep enough. You don't just jump. You can grab onto objects, you can use jetpacks, you have certain vehicles (you can't control but still), and you sometimes need to jump into different parts in the 3rd demension to get hard to find objects.

Lol is everyone serious? The game is forgettable. I still have three days left and I am going to return it early. There is not much emphasis on gameplay in this game.Ilived

So just like any other highly reviewed and hyped game...it starts out great, everything is new and it feels like the game will last a long time. Well it didn't end up that way really. I can say the single player campaign is just a novelty and a waste of time. Why is it a waste of time? Well because the gameplay isn't very fun. Picture it anyway you want, but it is ultimately a 2d sidescroller and I have been done with those every since I sold my Sega Genesis when I was a kid. So the biggest part of a game(gameplay) isn't all that great, that poses a big problem with me actually liking it. Been trying the level editor and it is really cool to use and it's great how simple they made it, but at the same time can be very in-depth.

I finished making a level and I played in it. A problem came up, while the gameplay was still boring, the other bad part was I already knew the level inside out since I made it...so where does the actual fun come in? Well the actual fun is making levels rather then playing in them. The actual fun is, downloading other peoples' creations and seeing what they've made instead of actually playing the game. So what is this...a game? Well if you call this a game then you honestly have poor taste because I don't see where the fun is. I just don't understand how people can be having a fun time actually playing this game. I can even see the level editor getting dry and soon it will be a very forgettable game. Well good thing I rented it.

Remember that this gaming market consist of varied age levels. Wii is a perfect example of boring non violent games that could be entertaining to children. Wii's have been selling through the roof everywhere making it obvious of its strong market share. As for me, I prefer violent shooters just because it appeals to me and yes, just like you, i'm done with my SNES and Sega Genesis. LBP got great reviews because of its unique qualities, and it's new ideas that it brought forth to the table. Although this game does not necessarily appeal to me but it can appeal to people at parties and people who aren't good at complex shooters and strategic based games. Before you start posting about how bad and shallow this game is, you should address your understanding of what the game is geared towards as a whole. This is a game I wouldn't purchase myself but I can always appreciate the developers efforts in bringing original ideas rather than another shooter thats already been made in this First Person Saturated market

Yeah I agree, the gameplay is very shallow and the servers suck so it takes a while to connect to anything.

Thanks for the advice. I'm glad LBP got delayed because I would've impulsed bought it. Now all the unnecessary hype has vanished in a quickness, renting this game or even waiting till it goes on the bundle bin or sales bin, is the best choice to get the game.

I'll probably even ask somebody to get it for me as a gift because I would rather spend my money on other better games out there.

I was skeptical at first. But, its absolutely amazing. Some of the levels are simply jaw droppingly awesome. Most of the user made levels are amazing too. About 2/3 levels I come across are levels I truly enjoy.

I have Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 sitting on my shelf because I can't stop playing LBP. I can 'waste' away hours just trying things with the editor and not really even making anything. Its loads of fun for me, and at the end of the day; thats all that matters to me.

I played Super Mario Galaxy last night. I don't get the big deal! It's the same game that I've played a million-billion times before, only now you're being confused by the stupid camera! Why can't the camera read my mind? Are developers really that inane? Don't they know what I personally want in my games? Besides that, I mean, I've done this all before! Sure, it's all really well-done, but I've already played Super Mario Bros. I know how it's going to end!

Super Mario Galaxy gets a 2/10 from me. It are lamez.

look for other user created levels. that is where the game shines at. I Hope by the time I get a PS3 and LBP there will be a lot of good level for me to play.too_much_eslim

You know what's funny about this post? I put that I rented the game in the title and yet he still thought I bought it. Also to the guy who used that dumb Gears 2 example...I guess if you feel they should quit their jobs then to you they should. It matters to me what I think about the game. I was expecting something more, but yeah thank god I just rented it.

No I'm not. I don't have a PSN account because there isn't a game I care about to play online on the PS3. I never got around to making an account. But you know, calling me a liar is the best way to go just because I thought this game sucked.

I suppose so. I fear I would have the same problem with LBP myself - the gameplay itself looks so slow and with my schedule it'll take me a month to create a basic level.

I love LBP.

Infact, I have less time around here because I'm too addicted to playing it on my PS3.

Its the one game that hasn't lost my interest after 10 or so hours in a LONG time.

Man this thread is so much fail, renting a game knowing what kind of gameplay it is, already hating said gameplay, NOT even trying it online then pronouncing that you have experienced it all because the single player is all there is to it, making a map, then playing by yourself once again, yeah, sad, really sad, the game is all about the ONLINE community, there are parts in packaged levels that CAN'T be done without other players.

Why did you even bother renting it if you hated it from the get-go?

The map you made, I'd say put it online but since you are so sad that you don't have a free account then kinda just invalidates your 'review' since you only experienced the solo portion.

Fail number 1. You should have read more on the game before renting it.

Assuming it is a game since it comes in a PS3 package. They wouldn't send you bologna to put and get stuck in your PS3. (Ps3 thread joke, some of you would recognize).
