I thank the PS3 for the successes of the Xbox360...

I've been thinking lately about the succes of the 360 and how they have alot to be proud of. Great games, great online, competetive pricing and with all they've done right this generation they're finally turning a much needed profit... RROD being an improving issue, they have had great success...

I then started thinking back to how given its currant success, there is no way they would be here if Sony didn't allow it. Thanks Sony, for botching your launch.

Dude get real even I know 360 has had good success and a good lineup of games.

It's funny how M$ and sony seem to have opposite business plans:

Sony: New Technology, Long System Life, Free Online Play, Minimum hardware failure.

M$: Old technology, short system Life, Charge for online play, RRoD.

Whats even funnier is that the 360 is still around. I was sure M$ would release a new console by now. That 2010 stuff is just BS to fool Sony (because nintendo isn't competing apparently).

Never before has gaming been so divided and so combative. It used to be that you could have two systems, and play all of the best games. At that time the industry was commited to gamers, and ensuring their enjoyment. Now, it's all about money and until Nintendo and Sony beat M$'s lights out, it's going to stay that way.

So instead I'd like to thank M$, for trying to kill gaming as art and a hobby. It's now just a business and nothing more.

Who cares about the sales in Japan? There are other companies making great games outside of Japan. The PS3 hardware is a failure, over engineered and better suited to crunch raw numbers then to run good games. If you want to say the 360 games are also on the PC then you will have to say that the few games that are on the PS3 are on the 360 also.

And sure the PS3 has newer tech but the games look the same and even worse at times. Newer tech don't mean nothing when nobody can understand how to use it.

Rightyo this is funny, Yes its true if sony had released the ps3 at the same time as the 360. then it would be a different story the ps3 would probly have the advantage right now, but then again it might have hardware troubles and charge for internet. Then noone would be happy. thats would suck

Currantly I'd say the 3 consoles are held in high regards by their respective owners... as in, opinion. The ps3 has made a much stronger case for itself more recently rather than being the laughing stock of the industry like it was in 06-07.

...But, I was talking about the survival and success of the xbox brand and not a comparrison of the 2 consoles. Fact is, because Sony was such an incredible let down, mess, dissaster, whatever, it allowed the Xbox brand to thrive and become what it is today... a legitimate player....

Just like a PS3 owner with the current Xbox 360? Because... I really can't think of a good reason to have one, especially at full retail "buy this off the shelf - it comes with a 3 year warranty!" price.

And then, when the next Xbox comes out, I can only imagine that the most hardcore of the hardcore (read: stupid;elitist) will buy one at launch. Unless, of course, they offer a 5-year warranty out the gate. I know I and many others, people I know personally and not opinion posters on forums, will hold off to see if it runs... you know... at all.

Exactly. The PoS3 would make an excellent workstation--unfortunately, that's not what it's supposed to be. The Cell processor is not necessary at all and pushes up hardware costs in a way that disallows for a more powerful graphics system, which it will need to actually sustain itself with newer graphics technology. They just had to include some big mighty Cell processor for no real reason or benefit, and are charging for hardware power we'll never be able to use like it should be used. It's Sony's own fault that it's on par as a gaming console with the Xbox 360. The PoS3 has a much stronger processor, though if you've ever built your own gaming PC, you know that graphics hardware comes first to a powerful gaming system, of which the Xbox 360 has stronger. A Core 2 Extreme processor cannot hold all of a GeForce FX's load. Put that kind of processor in that system, fine, though you can't get all the advantages. I like the Xbox 360 more, and I have no reason other than Metal Gear Solid 4 to even consider a PoS3. Still, the success of the Xbox 360 has more to do with the software library than anything to do with Sony...
