I thank the PS3 for the successes of the Xbox360...

sonys Failures did certainly help out the xbox 360, but it being rushed to the market a year ahead of its competitors did help it as well. Ofcourse RRoD is as prevelent as ever (what makes you think its disappearing?)

People stick with the Ps3 because they know the 360 is over prices, especially since XBL costs 50 bucks a year, making it endlessly more expensive than the Ps3. And the people who grew up with PS1 and PS2 stick with the Ps3 because of the games obviously. just like how people who liked Halo bought an xbox 360 for Halo 3.

The PS3 hardware is a failure, over engineered and better suited to crunch raw numbers then to run good games. nobody can understand how to use it.

This is most likely the tip of what is possible on the PS3 in time. Just think when developers really learn a few more little tricks of how the system works.

It's funny how M$ and sony seem to have opposite business plans:

Sony: New Technology, Long System Life, Free Online Play, Minimum hardware failure.

M$: Old technology, short system Life, Charge for online play, RRoD.

Whats even funnier is that the 360 is still around. I was sure M$ would release a new console by now. That 2010 stuff is just BS to fool Sony (because nintendo isn't competing apparently).

Never before has gaming been so divided and so combative. It used to be that you could have two systems, and play all of the best games. At that time the industry was commited to gamers, and ensuring their enjoyment. Now, it's all about money and until Nintendo and Sony beat M$'s lights out, it's going to stay that way.

So instead I'd like to thank M$, for trying to kill gaming as art and a hobby. It's now just a business and nothing more.

totaly agree, but the point of my thread was to point out that Sony had every reason to squash MS out in this thread and in reality THEY helped strengthen them with their poor management of the ps3.

Yep. It's always going to be better later. No offense, but that sounds like the Cow post-stress disorder mentality for this generation of consoles: keep looking towards the sunset & eventually, the console & games will arrive. At launch 360 was the machine to get, now ps3 is. Ps3 continues to improve, has a machine that is adaptable, the product and games are just exponentially better. Say what you want about Sony, they havent rested on their laurals, theyve made up the deficit and going forward look to be clearly positioned to succeed. Got nothing against 360, but Sony took their lumps and changed...slowly their weaknesses are becoming fewer.

I just laugh when people say they dont want a bluray or that wifi cant handle gaming or take issue with free online gaming that isnt better than something that costs $50 a year. I dont need air conditioning in my car, but its nice to have some days.

Coming in early got them early adopters without competition. The early adopters got dev and studio attention. The dev and studio attention got 360 its titles.

But you also got shafted on the xbox. And you've got one of the worst reliability rates of any console, ever.

Im trying to navigate your broken english... I think you don't like Microsoft but I can't really tell... As stated in my original post, RROD has been a problem. The point was that much of Microsofts staying power and competetiveness this generation is due large in part to the fact that Sony has worked so hard at bringing the Playstation name down many rungs on the ladder. Is that fanboyism or truth?
