All technology is over priced. This can be seen when you compare year to year prices.

thanks for the dumbest post of the day.  why don't you check out netflix or yesterdays news about blockbuster before complaing about renting the films.  and guess what DVD was overpriced when it first came out and now they're all over the place for under $10.  hd-dvd and blu-ray will both drop down in price over time.
and um... gamestop rips everyone off.  ebay your games or movies before ever going to them.

me personally, I don't think dvd is going anywhere, I figure dvd sales kill bluray sales

why replace all those dvd's everyone bought, they are cheap, plus there isnt that big a difference anyways

Does anyone else see the irony in someone that calls people that buy Blu-Ray movies dumb, then proceeds to write the message with such bad spelling & grammar that it makes them look stupid?

1. Blu-Ray is available for rent, and will soon be more accessible with Blockbuster backing them exclusively.

2. Blu-Ray movies vary in price from 20-35 bucks depending, it is not like they all cost 30+ bucks, and I am going with canadian figures here.

3. It sounds like you are trying to persuade us to -not- purchase these movies, why?

Depends where you buy your BDs from. Most of the stores around here have them for no higher than $25 and I think I paid that much for V for Vendetta on DVD.

Why is this here anyway? SW not FW

I don't worry about stuff like that either, but I still enjoy my dvd collection, to go out and waste money on buying the same thing twice, picture quality is good, but whatever, my dvd's still look nice

I remember when a bare bones DVD was 30 dollars. Ah yes, you pay a premium for technology before it becomes mainstream.

I can manage an average of 24 per blu ray film with free shipping and a 10% discount from amazon.com. (My HDTV purchase from them entitled me to 10% off all my HD movie purchases for a full year.)

So I'm paying about 2 dollars more than the DVD. The HD is worth it in my case.

Oh and I rent blu ray films from netflix.

Also, where is the logic in Blockbuster (The most famous rental store mind you) to strictly sell Blu-Ray movies for a time being, and then only rent out 10 at a time? Where is the logic?!

They've had BOTH Blu-Ray and HD-DVD already, and were having a trial run to see which sold/was rented more before settling on an exclusive - which they just did, Blu-Ray.

I am going to assume your not just trolling here because its pretty obvious that netflix has HD DVD and blu ray for rent.

Go to your account.

Go to format preference.

You set up whether you want to receive films on Blu-ray or HD-DVD if they are available in that format.

If you need more proof then that then you are probably lying about having netflix.

Click the All Editions tab and you'll see that Blockbuster carries Apocolypto in Bluray. It's tricky to find but Blockbuster offers many films in Bluray on their website.

[QUOTE="Kinitari"]1.

The upgrade is expected to come in Mid-July, when Blockbuster will have 170 titles at 1,700 stores.

"We intend to meet the demands of our customers and based on the trends we're seeing, we're expanding our Blu-ray inventory to ensure our stories reflect the right level of products," stated Blockbuster executive Matthew Smith.

The retailer has tested both formats in approximately 250 stores for the last several months. But Blockbuster officials say 70 percent of the high-def rentals are Blu-ray.

It is a rip-off if you own the movie on dvd. Since older movies turned into blu-ray are remastered, and don't look as good as movies filmed with HD cameras.

So don't buy a remastered movie, only newer ones.

That's not true at all. Film has a higher resolution than digital HD cameras.

Personally, I don't really see the purpose of buying movies compared to renting them. I have so many its just a mess and takes up space. I can never watch them all.

Netflix works for me

Honestly guys, u cant rent a blu ray movie yet, they r just to sell for up $30 just to watch a movie. Ps3 is already alot of money and its games are $50 or $60 plus a blue ray movie taht cost $30 or even $40 lol tahts alot of moneyy taht u spend in the ps3, in the long run u can easyly get a pc to play crysis, just do the math, i own 2 blue ray movies, and i went to sell them on gamestop, they said they will only give me $1 for each, i was like wtf? lol
