...on consoles.

I picked up DIII on release. I'm first and foremost a PC gamer when I have a choice, but having spent many hours with Diablo III on my PS3 I'm finding it to be a MUCH better experience overall than its PC counterpart. The absense of the auction house makes acquiring good loot reasonably doable. It plays beautifully with the gamepad....I don't think I could go back to the M\K now. Having evade on the right stick's immensely helpful and makes using a melee fighter strategic and fast-paced (don't remember an evade key on the PC, could be mistaken on that though). Local co-op's a blast, and online's great as well. No always-online feels like handcuffs have been removed. Presentation looks the same to me, albeit lower rez.

The only downsides I've seen are some stuttering and screen-tearing which can get really bad at times. Surprised they let this slip by though I'm hearing the 360 version doesn't suffer from it as much.

While I enjoyed Diablo III originally, its Internet requirement/RMAH caused me to quit. With those gone it feels different. There's very few games that I'd prefer on consoles vs. PC but Diabblo III's one of them. It's one of the better ports I've ever played. As a hermit, I gotta hand it to the consolites for this one-Diablo III is a superior experience on them.

Anyone else prefer playing it on the consoles?

Yep, it is one of the strange cases that a multiplat is better on consoles than on PC. Blizzard really ruined the experience on PC with the AH and AODRM.

Well it's not really a surprise and we will be able to compare them better when the expansion comes out on PC (not counting the new act)

Nope, it's not arguable.

Diablo 3 IS better on the consoles because of just how bad Blizzard Botched the PC version.

I think it's best experienced by killing it with fire. :P But really, seems like 4 players playing local would be the best experience for the game.

Diablo 3 at its current state is just a mediocre , or even bad , action RPG and an overpriced as well ( for what it offfers )... I bought PC version ofc and i quit after 2 months. So i dont  give a crap which version is slighltly better than the other. Game = fail

I've yet to buy Diablo 3. I played the demo and I thought the game was neat. The whole RMAH business really put me off TBH. Games are supposed to be fun, not a job, apparently they're still too stuck in their ways thanks to WoW.

if i had to guess i would say better on consoles but really that is only because all the pc dudes i know quit playing it after 2 or 3 weeks and never picked it up again and console people will play it longer before they get sick of it  and you will have more people to play it with over a longer period of time.

i run into that on pc all the time.

i don't see people playing big games for very long on pc ever.

hell i could hardly get into a grid 2 game after 2 weeks also.

that is kinda the achilles heel of pc gaming that people never talk about on sw.

well sure selected games go forever but i always have major problems finding guys in racers after a few weeks.

there are the stalwarts for different genres but it just seems like a new release will come out people play it for a few weeks then go back to the stalwarts.

Action RPG is best played with gamepad, and not using stupid mouse to point-click-move. Clearly design flaw.

I'm curious. But where did D3 go so wrong from its celebrated predecessor? Is it a case of failing to live up to its potential simply being "more of the same"? game mechanic alterations that did more harm than good? Or something other combination of factors?

Auction house and bad stats on items. In D1-D2 when you found sets/legendary items they where always at least useful and some times very good. In D3 most of them are garbage

I think the auction house was the only reason I was able to beat Diablo III on Inferno.

Without the auction house I would not have been able to get the gear I have without wasting 1000s of hours grinding the lower areas.

When I first got Diablo III on release I got to nightmare mode on my Monk and had some awesome gear that increased attack speed.

Then Blizzard released a patch that significantly nerfed attack speed and my Monk was useless on Inferno mode.

I tried farming for the gear but the repair fees were so expensive that I ended up losing a lot of money.

I hit a brick wall and quit playing the game at the beginning of June 2012.

I then came back at the end of last month and was able to find some cheap gear in the auction house to carry me through Inferno mode.

That and the incredibly terrible level design for the later half of the game, the terrible twist.  awful overpolish of game mechanics to the point of removing chests entirely, "We can't fix the loot rolls in chests, so we might as well give you no reason to even open them now."  That goes the same for barrels as well, pretty much any destructible object.

There's a ton of things I'm missing, but it was seriously awful.

That might be true, and all, but with Torchlight 2, and Path of Exile available to play I'm not sure why someone would spend time playing Diablo 3 anymore.

The chest fix you can thank all those players that spend all days not playing the game but just sit in same cave loot same chest then restart game and loot it again for loot...

Yep, terrible game design...

For the most part, players felt encouraged to play the AH so they could progress (especially melees, where the AH felt mandatory). That is NOT how i want to play the game

I watched giantbomb's quicklooks of it on consoles.

It looks and plays like ass.

Especially ranged classes. You can roll in the console version though...so there's that I guess.

LOL.... yeah ur such a PC gamer.... I doubt you've even touched the PC version... Can't remember if there is a dodge button for the PC version... REALLY? and you expect us to believe you played the game on PC.

Enjoy your muddy looking version running at half the framerate, with fewer monsters. Ooooh... you get a dodge/roll button... do you know why that was added for you? I do.

It's added because the controls are far less acurate than kb/m and therefore the console version needed something extra to help the player out. Placing skills accurately is nye impossible on the console version.

I'm not a huge advocate for "KB/M IS KING ALWAYS"... I actually play a lot of my PC games with a 360 controller. But Diablo is a no brainer, given the choice... kb/m is FAR superior for this type of game.

NOPE... just terrible players... I didn't play the AH until I got to INFERNO... and that was back when INFERNO past Act I was ridiculously hard.

If you can't beat Nightmare without the AH.... then you suck. Heck I'm leveling a Demon Hunter right now.... on Act 3 Normal MP10, and I'm trouncing them baddies. No AH required.

At the moment, it's best experienced on consoles. That's what a year and a half of refinement and console specific tuning will do. When RoS comes out, PC will be the better platform again. Hopefully they don't shaft console players with the expansion though cause it hasn't been confirmed for them yet.

People who say the AHs were the main issue with Diablo 3 really don't know the real issues or never played it.

D3 is best experienced by uninstalling it from your PC, and loading up Diablo 2 and playing that. D3 is too long and too boring. It won't be any better on the consoles.

C'mon guys, Diablo III is not so bad as to not even play.  It's not a bad game at all, just when compared to its forebear it doesn't stand up.  Who honestly would think it would anyway?  Taken on its own merits, it's an enjoyable dungeon crawler.

I'm seeing a lot more rares than I did on the PC.

If it rereleases on the PS4/X1 with the expansion (I don't see why it wouldn't) I might have to pick that one up as well.
