That it's going to be close.

The list of features that the NGP is bringing to the table far outshines the 3DS's 3D and past-gen ports.

Do you guys agree?

Resident Evil : Mercenaries and Revelations are ports?! Show me where i can play these 2 titles other than on the 3DS at the current moment in time. I say you havent looked to deeply in games for the 3DS!!

revelations no.. mercenaries re4? i think re5 has it too...

[QUOTE="oldkingallant"] We're talking handhelds here and Nintendo crushed Sony in games last gen. Nintendo's always had the best first party support, but the N64 and Gamecube lost due to weak 3rd party support stemming from Nintendo's refusal to move on to DVDs for the N64. Sony screwed the pooch with the overpriced PS3 (initially) and ruined their dominance, and Nintendo took over by appealing to the masses. They won because of games, not because the games were all good but because they appealed to everyone with truly great games for gamers and fun party games for everyone else. The 3DS will have better 3rd party support, name recognition, price advantage, and will be released first. That's why it'll win.VideoGameGuy

The Wii is winning because of a gimmick and the support of grandmas. Their compelling Exclusvies are laughable in quantity to MS and SONY with 360 and PS3. And did you not see the same conference i saw for NGP where they unveiled a list of like 80 developers that are going to work on the NGP? Seriously dude, get better arguments.

you could have made yourself sound like less of an ignorant fanboy but still make vaild points, but you didn't so your opinion is laughable.

What I stated is correct, regardless of how i may have worded it. Wii is selling as well as it is because of the Gimmick it has and the fact that it appeals to casuals more then it does core gamers. Wii Exclusives are small in quantity compared to PS3s and 360s, and people in the industry, not just on these boards dont consider it a core console like 360/PS3 are.

[QUOTE="Mr_BillGates"] OLED uses lower power than any other technology that is out there. 3D makes battery life to 3 hours? I don't need to roll eyes here.DerekLoffin

True, but the same can't be said with portable devices...The bigger the screen, the more the battery life is burnt. OLED doesn't change that fact, though it does have a huge plus compared to an LCD screen.

3DS: 3D, Wi-fi on, and highest brightness setting is 3 hours. 3D on, wi-fi on, lowest to mid brightness setting is 5 hours. Everything off and highest brightness setting is 6-7 hours. Everything off and low to mid brightness setting - 8 hours.

No, 8 hours is DS games on lowest settings, not 3DS games.

Four hours with max brightness and 3D turned on Link

Eight hours with 3D turned off Link

[QUOTE="Nonstop-Madness"][QUOTE="The_RedLion"] We don't even know the price for the NGPThe_RedLion
Im pretty sure it won't be more than $350 at most.

Irrelevant. Without knowing for fact nothing is safe to say

Its pretty safe to say Sony won't want to pull a PS3 on Nintendo cause their the underdog. Also, a product has to be around the same price to be competitive.

But their vauge on what you have to do to get 8 hours out of it. Are you going to have to have everything turned off or lowered down to minimum?

[QUOTE="xLFTMx"]I'm not a big handheld gamer, but I was dissappointed with the DS. Not to say it isn't great, it just wasnt my thing. So I don't really care about the 3DS. Plus the 3d aspect feels REALLY gimmicky to me.xLFTMx

3D display is really how it should have been from the beginning with 3D graphics, only that the technology for it wasn't mature.

It's not a gimmick, no more than having two eyes instead of one is a gimmick. It's simply how it's meant to be.
For instance it makes you able to judge depth and thus you can estimate distance, something that is vital for certain things, jumping just the right distance or when to break before going into a corner in a racing game. Overall it will increase immersion.

I am curious about the NGP though...might try it out and pick one up.xLFTMx
Really? Personally I don't see anything to be curious about, it's a PSP, with two nubs and touch. Awesome :|

No. 3D on a handheld is a gimmick. Thats not completely a bad thing, but it is.

I'm not debating this anyway, I dont care either way, and don't wanna deal with your clear fanboyism.

Oh 3D is a gimmick just like what Sony said about the DS touch screen and Wii remote and now they have a similar Wii remote and now have a touch screen on the NGP.

So, 3D drops battery time to approximately 50% and cannot be viewed for too long of a period of time. Gimmick indeed!

Which contradicts both official specs (which put only DS games that high), but also this: http://mynintendonews.com/2011/01/27/nintendo-3ds-nintendo-explain-nintendo-3ds-battery-life/

You know what would be a huge shocker, if the NGP came out with a $199.99 sticker, that would be an insane blow to Nintendo, they would have to lower their price dramatically so stay competitive.

I just got to laugh. It's going to be nowhere near close. The 3DS will be selling at $250, they will have about a year head start over PSP2, & they won't be having tons of ports like the PSP2 is going to be getting from 3rd parties with mostly downgraded 360/PS3 games (mostly because of the higher development costs for PSP2 from what I heard). Not only that, but the PSP2 is going to be tons more expensive than the 3DS will be (& probably even more expensive than the PS3 & the 360).

Both systems are great but I would be getting the NGP first.

Guys, take a look at the comments for this articleand tell me if it looks familiar.

And for old times sake, here is a PSP vs DS thread from 2005.

(yes you could get away with petty insults back then)

All I had to do was see a picture of the NGP to know I wanted it over the 3DSgregbmil
It's things like this that hurt the gaming industry IMO. No offense man :) I prefer the 3DS but i plan to get both as long as the NGP isn't $400.
