I think it's just a matter of time till the PS3 outsells the 360 and becomes the console king (the Wii doesn't count because that's not really a serious gaming console). When it comes to graphics, PS3 games have caught up or surpassed 360 games. PS3 is getting better exclusives. And the PS3 is a much more feature-packed console. And I think the PS3 will have a much longer lifespan than the 360.

No way. Xbox just has too stable of a library.

And the Wii is in fact a gaming console as I play it close to the amount of time to the 360. You cant just say that one console isn't important.

Right now 360 has the console graphics king until killzone 2 and then some more games on both consoles will dethrone that. So their graphics are on par with each other which is not good for Sony bc we all thought it should not even be close. But either way does not matter bc xbox had better graphcis then ps2 and well...

Not with the 360 arcade selling for $199. This is a bold move by Microsoft and it will put SONY in a difficult spot.

As far as the PS3 passing the 360, it isn't going to happen in my eyes...and now is probably the worst time to be trying to defend the PS3 when 1 article after another is criticizing the PS3. Bad sales, bad holiday sales, no price cut, the waste of time that Home was...And Blu-Ray is a waste right now, nobody will pay 35$ for a DVD they could get for 5$, not in this economy anyway.

Things look bad and they did it to themselves. I've been saying it all along, 1 stupid choice after another. Right now it looks like they'd be lucky to break even this gen, let alone pull back into the race.

Number 1, the Wii does count... it's trumping both of its competitors combined... how can that not count? Number 2, it's possible that the PS3 may eventually outsell the 360. But I can't see that happening in less than 2 years... meaning it'd be too late for that to actually mean anything. All three consoles are going to enjoy some success this gen, and even with the Wii's massive hardware sales... no console really stands a good chance of 'dethroning' the other. Sgt_Hale

1. The Wii still will have crushed both its competitors

2. Beating MS by anything less than a huge margin (millions) means nothing, since it still means Sony hemorraged marketshare and mindshare this gen, both for consumers and developers.

I come to System Wars to stay informed, be entertained, and discuss gaming consoles. Other than that, they are just games. Im happy with the PS3 and the 360. I understand what your saying, but IMO....I dont think that Microsoft is planning on selling the 360 for 10 years. Well, Sony seems like they want to sell the PS3 for that long.IMO the PS3 does have legs....Its already ahead as far as Hardware wise. When the 360 is scrapped...and Sony keeps on with their slow but steady pace.....yeah, they will pass the 360. Thats how I feel about it.

MS will sell the 360 as long as it is making them a profit. I think the 360 has major legs as long as it keeps getting great content and from the sound of things, it will. MS seems to have a Halo/Gears strategy. Release a Halo game or games one year, Gears game the next. Case and point, Gears of War - 2006, Halo 3 - 2007, Gears of War 2 - 2008, Halo Recon/Halo Wars - 2009, Gears of War 3 - 2010. You see what I mean.

I think there will be a new XBOX come 2011 which will of course be the big news for MS that year, but the 360 will stay in production. I also have a feeling MS will announce Halo 4 for that new console in late 2010 to get every one hype for the next XBOX in 2011.

The "hard-core" market is almost saturated and casuals are buying the wii.

The numbers just aren't there, and even a price cut won't matter at this point. The ps3 doesn't have enough exclusives and even a price cut won't make a difference. By the time the ps3 is $200 blu-ray players will be $100 so people won't even buy it as a blu-ray player.

Sony got arrogant and is now paying for it. They thought most of those ps2 owners would buy a ps3 on brand name alone. They were wrong. Even if ps3 sales were to pick up in 2010/11 ms will just drop the next xbox.

The winners of this gen have already been decided.

Sony deserved to lose, their hype machine has gotten old. Remember the ps3 supercomputer talk? Or ps2 toy story graphics bs? F them, they deserve to go back to the drawing board.

I actually disagree with everything you said. Have you seen the November sales figures. Lets see the wii sold a STAGGERING 2.04 million units. So yes it does matter in the industry,millions more than the PS3 at the moment. The 360 is outselling the PS3 by a very big margin and it already has a good lead over it in sales. 360 sold 837,000 in nov. vs PS3's lowly 387,000. the statistics show that the PS3 is going to be a DISTANT third this gen so why would I agree with you?Toyeboy

I think PS3 will eventually beat 360, and I think it will live longer, kind of like the Super Nintendo eventually beat the Sega Genesis. However, Sony dropped the ball by not countering Microsoft's price drop. Having the cheapest PS3 SKU be twice as expensive as the Xbox 360's cheapest SKU was a bad move, regardless of the recession.Timstuff
