[QUOTE="Polaris_choice"][QUOTE="Zeliard9"]First it's strawman arguments, and now Polar has resorted to cherry-picking. Now it's "Crysis isn't the graphics king because RE5 which comes out in 2009 has better human character models." Oh brother.
Zeliard9
Im not cherry picking anything. Corbras arguments are that no other game beats Crysis are is even compareable to Crysis in any way shape are form. And im simply pointing out that it is not true. There are games that look as good and even beat Crysis in some areas. Is Crysis the techincal graphics king? That is a fair argument because no other game looks as good as Crysis while doing it at that scale. But there are other games that look as good and even better on a smaller scale. You simply seem to misunderstand what im arguing.
Cobrax is just saying that Crysis is the graphics king, that's all, in a topic that says that Uncharted is. You're the one misconstruing other people. Bringing up RE5 doesn't really make sense, not when we've barely seen anything from it, and not when it's coming out in 2009 while Crysis is coming out in a month. This argument is simply about the graphics king, so there have to be some standards.
RE5 looks amazing, there's obviously no doubt about that, but we still can't make a proper comparison with it yet since it's still so far off and we've only had one video from it. We've seen tons of stuff from Crysis and Uncharted and the like. We've even seen much more from Far Cry 2, which also looks very impressive and would have made for a better example than RE5.
But why even bring up Crysis when it will look differnt for everyone who plays it. Notice the TC brings up Gears of War as the current king.( I personally think HS looks better) . But its obvious hes comparing consoles. In which yes Uncharted would clearly be the new graphics king. As for Crysis how do you compare that. Is it I guess Ultra highest settings Crysis is the graphics king? But not low and medium settings thats for dam sure. Its not fair to shoot down a beautfiul looking game just because one game built for the highest end of hardware can look better at its best settings.
[QUOTE="Polaris_choice"][QUOTE="cobrax25"][QUOTE="Polaris_choice"][QUOTE="cobrax25"][QUOTE="Polaris_choice"]Cobra go selfown yourself post pics of 5 humans on screen of Crysis that look that good. Or better yet post one of Chris Redfield next to anyone you are simply selfowning yourself. cobrax25

That pretty much proves my point now go post some pics of Chris Refield and maybe you will see what im coming from. RE5 has the best character models of any game in development. Plus thats not even a ingame shot thats a concept render hence the reason hes stuck to a black backround.
you mean this.....

sure its good....but the other one is almost lifelike......
and no its not a concept render, it was a demonstration of their facial animation system at some event...ill look up the link if you want to see it in video.
I have not seen any ingame Crysis shot that beats that not even the video you showed. The one of him in broad daylight looks even more impressive.
lol...no...the one in Crysis looks far more realistic, and his facial animations are far better.
You can make out each indivisual wisker in Chris Redfields face and the texture detail is better as well im sorry I disagree.

I don't think it's fair to hold it against the game itself that it takes a good rig to be admired the way it's meant to be admired. If Gears of War had been PC-only, would you be saying that? If a game comes that is clearly better-looking than every other game, but requires a good computer to run, why should be that be held against it? Because that would've been Gears of War PC if it never came out for consoles, but it would've still deserved the title of graphics king.
And you can make that same argument about HDTVs and SDTVs, too, you know? Uncharted won't look the same on a 50" 1080p LCD than a 20" SDTV. Would you hold that against it?

you can do that easily in the crysis model as well...the RE5 one really isnt that impressive....the animation, wrinkles, and even pores, look far more realistic and convicing in the crysis one.
Why do people keep posting the pics of the faces on the sticks that are just the concept renders. I have seen game after game shots and vidoes and they dont seem to be that detailed. Polaris_choice
their not concept renders...they came from a direct video..they are even in the game right here...just not so close up.

Gears of War looked the same on every xbox 360 though. And as for the display argument that simply makes no sense. Crysis not only needs a nice rig but yes its not going to look the same on a 720p 2000:1 contrast ratio 19 inch monior as it is a 1200 dollar 32inch LCD monitor capable of much higer resolutions. As forCrysis many of the pics I have looked up are a mix bag. The 3rd person shots especially look impressive( can you even play the game in 3rd person mode?) And many of the other shots look great as well. The indoor areas I however find far less impressive such as the scenens on the tanker and such. Regardless I would argue that Uncharted looks just as pretty as Crysis in many areas, is it as technically impressive? No because its on a much smaller scalebut you shouldnt exclude it out of the graphics king argument as it does so many things well.

Ill have to check the demo out on my freinds pc he can run it at max ultra. Some of the close up pics ive seen though dont look as good as those concent shots but ill go check it out soon.
I don't think we need to prove to Polaris_choice that Crysis looks better since he already got his mind setLonelynight
No im just telling people to look at how each game does ceartin things better then others. I know how to judge graphics ive always been a graphics whore( dont know why just cant help it) and Crysis is a gorgeous game technically, hell I even think it has good art but there are areas where it is beat . Heck you can argue that Crysis looks better then Uncharted thats fine I agree with you but to say its not even compareable ? Thats just fanboyism. I simply said Uncharted beats it in some ways and it does. Uncharted has the single best animation system of any game ive seen.
Why is this discussion even taking place? From a technical standpoint, their is no question that Crysis is the winner, by virtue of it's vastly superior hardware. The only possible way to claim RE5 looks better is through your personal opinion, and thats meaningless.agentfred
Are to look at the character models and go hmm wow I think that looks better. Also yet again youhave another flaw in your argument. Crysis wont alwasy be played on vastly superior hardware in some cases it will be played on vastly inferior hardware.

Ok, but IMO Crysis still looks better in body aninations and facial animations.(I'm judging from the cut seen EA release)
