I think Warhawk deserves a little appreciation. (56k)

From what I have spied there are more than two downloadable packs, ill check right now....

Im just worried that ill have to purchase them in order to play with the community, I dont see why these coudlent be updates for the community, to increase it, rather than priced addons (which seems like all the rage on the console platforms).

If most servers only go by non expansion, then i'd defitnaly consider buying it as I have enjoyed playing the game, even if TF2 is eating up alot of my time.

skrat_01

I think you are referencing information from a long time ago, back when warhawk still had a single player.

And there have been free updates that include new content, the new "Hero" and "Collection" modes and the "wrench" and "bio-field" weapons that were added a while ago.

3 Downloadable Packs, a total of $33.

As I said, that really put me off buying the game.

skrat_01

there are only 2 downloadable packs, the 3rd you are referencing is the one that includes both packs as a single package for a slightly cheaper price.

There is "Operation: Omega Dawn" and "Operation: Broken Mirror".

Ahhh yes you are correct the $13 one combines both the two $10 ones.

My mistake, my mistake.

While I do think these should have been free updates to support the community, that price is reasonable not bad at all (if the price is $13 AUD, which im guessing it is the correct pricing for my region).

Warhawk just got a whole lot more appealing to buy.

Might wait until I get another controller for some split screen online, before I buy it.

Sure the PSN is "second best" to XBL but it's free and pretty functional. killzowned24

LMAO.Sony hyped the PS3 to high heaven, how it was going to be the most advanced console on the market, and 18 months down the line all it can come up with is an online service thats "pretty functional"?

One word: Unsatisfactory.

LOL, 360 only gives a few more chat features + you pay for it.

I think it does more than that, and before you ask, no i wont list the features. Im sure you've seen it over and over in the countless XBL vs PSN threads we get.

Its good... but.

There are way to many down-loadable packs for it on PSN that require micro-transactions.

skrat_01

There are two, that is right, only two downloadable packs, which include a new map and a new vehicle each, how is that "way too many"???

Also you don't have to buy them, there are plenty of servers running non-expansion. Actually, a majority of servers are running non-expansion. So where are these "required" micro-transactions you are talking about?

Really?

As I said, that really put me off buying the game.

There are two booster packs, the third one is a combination of both for a cheaper price. I thought the same thing when I first looked at the page yesterday.

But back to the topic, I just bought Warhawk last weekend with 5 other games (Resistance, Untold Legends, Viking, Uncharted, and NG) and WArhawk I just got around to playing yesterday. I was hesitant at first, but after playing it, I was soo glad I got it. ITs really a lot of fun, and getting to a server is easy. People were talking on their mics, not too much, but enough to communicate. I dont have a headset, but I will when SOCOM comes out and it will be used for both games. Its really a game that any Ps3 owner should have (I dont even like online games and I love it). I'll probably buy the booster packs soon. CAn't wait for the trophies and I also heard that there will be training portions with the new patch, hope thats true, it is hard.

It is a great game I gave up on it because the bonehead devs allowed team switching in the middle of a ranked battle and the clans all stick 3 or 4 of their guys on your team to teamkill you and slow you down while they take all the spawn points but yeah other than that great title.

If the ever fix the team swapping thing I may go back and play it again someday.

That's what a lot of people love about it, it's a simple pick up and play game....I think the Warhawks are the only difficult things to get use to....

Personally that's what I loved about Warhawk, same goes for COD4...Im tired of these games that require you to remember 100 different button presses.

Warhawk is the only PS3 game that I continue to play. I think it is pretty fun and addicting at times. That being said though I still enjoy COD4 and Halo 3 more.

I'd say the quality of an online service would have sooooome impact on an online only game. Just guessing on that one but it sounds good :)

GabeNewellsPie

Hm so apparently you dont know that the PSN isnt that bad and the dedicated servers used by Warhawk make for a perfectly fun online experince?

People act like playing online has become something more than playing online. It hasnt. The PSN is just fine and Warhawk is a great game, and the fact you are trying to throw the "XBOX LIVE trumps PSN" card out there shows just how little you know about the PSN.

The fact that PSN still isn't in the same league as Live 18 months after the PS3 came out is a little sad.

You can go on about how PSN is fine for online all you want ,but lets be honest, cows are settling for second best again.

It's funny how the 360 has been out for like 5 years and still has horrible hardware problems.

LMAO.Had to bring up something completely irrelevant to the topic,to try and conceal the PS3's substandard online service.

Go cows.

well the psn is free and for what it offers, you can't beat it. Also, while xbl is better (by a nice distance) it's NOWHERE near leagues better then the psn

Simple? Hop in a game, I guarantee I would make you cry - there is a lot more to the game than it seems at first glance. It's also one of the most perfectly balanced MP experiences I have ever seen. As a competitive MP game it's amazing. Having a seriously intense dogfight while chaffing to avoid turrets, zooming in on a flag carrier and dropping back to back cluster mines on their whole group, blowing up a missile turret with a TOW missile and watching as the guy inside makes a pathetic last-ditch attempt to run... the game is frickin awesome.

I just bought this game yesturday night. I made a custom game and started to get use to the controls. I'm good at using the weapons and stuff. But I'm not use to how you look up and down at the moment. I also don't know how to lock on while flying the warhawks but I'm good at maneuvering though.

Anyone who wants to play sometime can add me(Seriously I need some more PSN friends :P). So yeah, add me anytime.

BTW: the game is good for an online only multiplayer game.

Noone has talked about it on here, so I thought id give it some kudos. It's an outstanding online game of which I think rivals the current console greatest online hits. It's like Battlefield 2, but more fast paced and without the proning problems. Everything you use in warhawk is eqaully balanced towards other weapons which is a hard feat to accomplish in online multiplayer games. (Coughgearsofwarshotgun, resistancesshotgun, etc)

I have never played an online game with as much statistic depth as this, I mean you can see everything from miles flown/walked/driven, to individual weapon stats, to charts that show your progression in different fields over time. Warhawk has a in-game clan system as well, with an individual message board. You can't rule out the outstanding continued support from the developers. So far there has been 2 booster packs, with one on the way. Not to mention the 2 new game mods and items released for free.

So if you don't like reading too much, this is a run down on why Warhawk is such a bad*** online game.

  • Fast paced Battlefield 2 type game
  • $30!!!
  • Well balanced out weapon system
  • Continued dev support
  • Amazingly in-depth stats page
  • The "jump right in" online splitscreen capabilities. Literally its "jump right in", you just have to press the ps button on another controller and your instantly in the game with the screen split.
  • $30!!!!! lol
  • An actual in-game clan system
  • Uses a lobby system, where you select the matches you want to join. (also has a basic matchmaking system)
  • Loads of customization options for players, and warhawks
  • There are still loads of people who play this, so there are plenty of 32 player battle goodness.
  • Did I mention it is only $30?

Yeah, it's just awsome. NOW APPRECIATE NUBS. lol

Logan832

Yeah motorstorm does have alot of DLC, thing is as it has a singleplayer heavy component I dont have to worry about downloads and an online community to keep up with.

lol...

-dedicated servers for ranked w/o split screen

-split screen servers are sooo hard to get into (not including the near empty games)

-not as good as BF2...

but overall for the price it was pretty good, if you can get into a server with all 3 of ur buddies playing split screen

I luv the game. When you first start you are like "WTF? Im getting killed 24/7" then as time goes on you get better and better and it become alot of fun! Plus, i luv owning noobs who use the basic controls for flying warhawks. The advanced ones give you so much more manuverability and if u master the six-axis control, you are untouchable!. Being able to shoot anyone in your field without changin direction is awesome!

I was suprised at how much I liked warhawks online. I really enjoyed it. I used to go over to my friends apartment and we would play split screen online. So much fun. Like a lot of people have said to. Its still getting updates and very good ones at that. The game has great level design which I think makes it that much more enjoyable. I also agree that it has some of the best vehicles in a game because even if you have a vehicle your not invincible. You can die very easily. The vehicles take some time in knowing how to use them in a battle. Each vehicle has its purpose for winning a match especially in capture the flag.

I just picked up the game on Friday and it is by far one of the most satisfying games I've bought this generation. It actually feels like a battlefield with skirmishes popping up all over the large battlefields, dog fights roaring in the skies above, and debris raining down from the sky.

Great game. If you play a lot of Warhawk, you should add me on PSN, as this is my first online PS3 game besides MGS4, I have no friends on my list. Tag is in sig. :)

Why would you care if 300,000 people play or a million play in 1 day... Its not like you're gonna play every single person, If you can get into full matches with no problem then I don't see what the fuss is about...
