Mechanically? The only things Forza does better than GT, mechanically, is vehicle damage, visual customization of your cars, and sound effects.

Car and Driver and GT Academy would both support the stance that Gran Turismo is the more realistic from a driving physics standpoint.

Forza was never a system seller, but sure the fact that Forza gets churned out as often as it does and didn't chart would be troubling. In theory I'd look at this as a positive and say maybe Microsoft will take the hint and go to a proper 3 year dev cycle or even 4 year cycle so there is a solid gap between releases. But that's expecting too much. The thing is they hurt themselves with the Horizon stuff, calling it Forza allowed them to have a different racer in rotation, but ultimately everyone responds to it like it's the same shit ever year.

When really, no they aren't. And that was a dumb move.

They probably burned people with the constant releases and with some choices they took on the previous game.

Forza is a well rated series that lems use to pad the exclusives list against the PS4. You know kinda like how cows are doing now saying that every piece of garbage game on the PS4 is awesome cause it's exclusive when in reality is had nothing that's really appealing.

There is stiff competition these days. Forza, GT, PCars, Assetto Corsa, Grid, etc. It is no longer just Forza and GT. So, these games no longer have a huge impact like they did in the past because racing fans have plenty of good games to play.

@StrongBlackVine: I never saw Forza as a system seller, but I know others did. That said, there is now another problem and that is there is too much Forza saturation on the market. People still are playing last year's Forza and the year before that.

Funny thing is, I saw an extreme salty lemming creating an entire thread with the premise of asking for more Forzas and Forza developers created in another thread two weeks back as if we don't have too much already.

@oflow: Yes Bloodborne is niche, but its NPD number was over double Flopza 6's sales with no bundles to prop it up. Shows how far Flopza has fallen.

I like playing good games. Cows can call it Flopza all they want, doesn't change the quality of the game. People that like racing games know the deal. And by the time GT7 drops there will be an even better Forza to put it to shame -- again.

Let's not forget how poorly GT6 did on PS3 as well with a huge install base. So, like I said before, these games no longer have the impact like they did in the past. Franchise fatigue, series saturation, more competition in the genre, and more competition in the industry in general have hurt sales of racers. Back in the glory days of GT, there weren't many mega franchises like COD, BF, AC, etc. to compete with. Also, games like GTA, Madden, Fifa, etc now take up a lot more playing time due to the popularity of online. Back in the day, racers used to be flagship titles also. Now there are plenty of games that push graphics and wow people. This all factors into the sales. So, I think Forza 6 will do just fine in the long run, but racing games will probably never hit the big numbers again of the old GT titles.

I think one problem is that it got almost no marketing. I didn't even know it was coming out until days before hand. MS really dropped the ball I think.

I don't think so, they don't have the same audience. All the Forza Horizon players I talk to don't play it and I only play Motor Sport and not Horizon.

Shouldn't have been the case. This is the first Forza since four which was a decent full package. It should have been this generations FM3.

Having two different "ips" would actually allow Microsoft to celebrate each entry in a more event like fashion, otherwise yeah Forza is a yearly series. Bi-annual isn't that much better, but it makes the part where they call it Forza 6, less laughable, because in your head you're going "yeah more like 8".

GT6 did well on PS3. Well, not for GT standars, but it sold well. Few millions. Forza 6 can dream about those numbers.

Problem is that GT6 was released in bad time. Right before PS4 launch.

Unfortunately, I am able to make direct comparison daily between the ALL the main machines on the market since I own them and I can't hide as easily from the truth as you can with your solo Xboner lifestyle. Forza's never been much of a big seller in the first place, i always thought it was odd that lems liked to claim it so. Franchise fatigue is setting it in, MS have milked it dry.

It's an absolutely ridiculous achievement to hit one million sales in a lifetime, let alone in one month.

In saying that, Forza sells a lot. Every entry hits the million mark. That's why they keep coming.

asking you to pay for the same car with a different paintjob
