Exactly. And it probably has everything to do with Nintendo's fear that third party sales won't generate enough revenue from software fees. It's what happened to the Gamecube.

Why else are they just trickling out the releases slowly? Why not just release an entire catalog all at once?

Even without online play, leaderboards, and other gimmicks that try to justify a purchase, the VC even @ launch is still so much more entertianing than the XBLA. Stick with the nextgen gaming MS, you guys suck at bringing games that came out before your original Xbox.

Nintendo puts zero effort into the games at all. They make it seem like they don't want to change the original but I think it is just because they are being lazy. They use that excuse for not fixing slowdown, graphical glitches, adding online play, etc... but when it comes to not having memory pak or rumble support then they have no problems with changing the games. Come on. People are buying the games as they are though so there is no way Nintendo will change anytime soon. I like the games better than the ones on Live Arcade but XBLA gives you more for your money. It's not even a contest.

Xbox Live arcade is more like...durf...an ARCADE.

Virtual Console is...a CONSOLE.

Two totally different kinds of downloadable content.

XBLA can't compete with 20 years of Nintendo classics.

But VC adds no new features, online play, or updated graphics.

Pro's and cons.

I was told G-FAQS users weren't as lame as GS users..
But no, it's the other way around.

Lmao, your were told wrong. pure GS users are just hapless noobs, you guys wouldn't last an hour on NGG, the superior game discussion board.

How about the fact that during the end of the PS2/GC/Xbox generation we come to find out multiplatform really meant Playstation 2 and Xbox only. Nintendo wasn't raking in those 3rd party fees like everyone else was. And it looks like they fixed that problem easily with the Wii. Sell their old stuff.

???  How is VC "milkage" any more than XBLA?

Of course they're ALL trying to make money, that's the idea behind anything any console comes out with.

The idea behind VC is that people who for what ever reason (sold their NES, SNES, N64, old games, ect)  can't play their classic games anymore.  So they see a game on VC, that they'd played when they had a NES or whatever and say "Damn, i remember how fun that game was, I think I wana play that again"

And stop it with the whole "Nintendo's just trying to make money without putting any effort in it, and just re-releasing games"  I don't think Geometry Wars took that much more effort to make than re-releasing old games.

Too bad MS can only update easy arcade games instead of thier own Xbox games to make it fully BC and able to compete with the Wii.

How about the fact these same old games can be emulated on a computer. They are the same exact games with nothing different. How could that be better than adding online play, HD, leaderboards, voice etc. VC is just Nintendo way to sell their old crappy games over again to people who don't know any better.

BREAKING NEWS

iTunes is now a complete rip off. Why? Because you can download all of the songs from iTunes on your computer for free. And besides who wants to buy old music you may never have listened before when you can just walk to the store, find, and by the CD, cassette, or record

Whoo...the damage control in this thread by the TC is just plain ridiculous. He has got to be one of the blindest fanboys on GS.

This is just sad...I can understand you saying the VC >>>> XBLA (because in some ways I agree) but the reasons this guy uses to justify these views are just plain fanboyish.

It is not milking because it is giving you something new, like castle crashers and games like that, whilst also changing the old games it releases and adding new features.  Nintendo is releasing their old games with nothing new, thus "milking" what thye have already done, and getting money out of something they already sold and thought had gotten all they could from it.

Yes, and I'm overwhelmed at all the new games on XBLA

Frogger, Doom, Gauntlet, Geometry Wars, Hardwood Backgommoen, Hardwood Hearts, Hardwood spades, joust, Ms. PAC-MAN, Mutent Strom Reloaded, PAC-MAN, Paperboy, Street Fgihters, Smash TV, Texas Hold'em, TMNT 1989 Arcade, and Uno.  FRESH NEW  CONTENT THAT Xbox is serving to their loyal fans.  Because Micro Soft would never milk anyone? Would they?

C'mon, just because these games haven't been released on an Xbox system, doesn't mean Microsoft isn't milking.  And just giving a game 3D graphics doesnt make it a completely new and fresh game.  Microsoft is releasing OLD games, that you can play in other places, getting people to buy them.  Stop being a fan boy and just bashing VC cause you hate Nintendo

It is not being a fanboy to understand that milking is when you release the same thing, WITH NO CHANGES, in a different format.  Microsoft is adding things such as better graphics and online play, along with newer games that are not on anything else.  Its selling a moderatly new product making it more worth the price, instead of just squeasing out whatever is left like nintendo is doing.  You are being a fanboy by not seeing that nintendo is just releasing the same stuff they have without any improvements whatsoever.

Me too though its still far better than the XBLA's barely playable arcade games which are far more overpriced.

Atleast XBLA has demos so you know of you like the game or not. With VC you are stuck with it plus they have no added online or extra features over the original. I'm not gonna go out and buy SM64 for no reason when I already own it.

The thing is the old unchanged nintendo stuff is still better than pretty much anything on XBLA.  Updated graphics and online play does not make a game a must buy over old unchanged games.

They were, in their own time when they were made.  OoT was good, but now it is boring and outdated by games like oblivion.  If they would have changed it it miht hve made it more wanted, but they didn't.  A game could be amazing, but having already played it makes it less wanted, since the freshness is gone.

Real games? You mean games designed to be pure profit so Nintendo does not have to work and put time into developing other content online.

TekkenMaster606

How does the motives behind releasing the games make the games any less of a game? (Say that 10 times fast...)

[QUOTE="project343"][QUOTE="wok7"]vc = one dimensional, therefore xbla > vc

Wut? VC has better 2D and 3D games, lol

Clearly you didn't understand his message.
Making money =/= milking.

By this definition 'milking' is better as its purely for the gamers, so Nintendo is best : )
wok7
Purely for the gamers? Milking, when used to describe this topic, is referring to the fact that Nintendo is re-releasing their titles to make more money off nostalgia-seeking consumers.

I'm stilled confused... HOW IS XBLA NOT MILKAGE AND VC IS

And your talking re-released games? Geometry Wars, Doom, Gauntlet are all re-released... Um and like Uno and Texas Hold'em are fresh and original games as well. Oh my bad, you've got TOTEM BALL! Prolly the worst game/innovation ever made...

Am I comparing OoT to oblivion? No.  We are comparing VC vs. XBLA games and OoT is better than any XBLA game right now.

Well i know this probably hasn't crossed alot of you "hardcore" gamers minds before BUT alot of people who are buying a Wii HAVEN'T PLAYED VIDEOGAMES BEFORE. The VC gives them the chance to play these classics and also gives us the chance to play some old classics we might have missed or have a hard time finding in used stores. Honestly what is so wrong with this concept? So what Nintendo shouldn't charge you for these games? They should all be online enabled? updated graphics? leaderboards? will it never end? Take it for what it is, a way to play old games on exctinct consoles. If anyone has a better (legal) way to do this then i'd love to hear it.

[QUOTE="CPM_basic"]

[QUOTE="wok7"] I already own most of those games or at least played them.

Me too though its still far better than the XBLA's barely playable arcade games which are far more overpriced.
Jandurin

Atleast XBLA has demos so you know of you like the game or not. With VC you are stuck with it plus they have no added online or extra features over the original. I'm not gonna go out and buy SM64 for no reason when I already own it.

Why would you want a demo of a game you already own??

Well that's the thing with XBLA. It has completely NEW games as well as remakes. So with the new games you obviously want to try them before you buy and with the oldies you can download the demo to see if the updates and extra are worth the re-purchase.

Well considering most of the XBLA games arent as good as the VC games its a good thing theres a demo so people dont have to waste their money.

I never said VC games weren't good  I'm just defending XBLA and you can't deny that it has more variety.

I think that the VC offers better games. But the XBLA gives you more stuff for your games. Frankly, I love the VC, I never had a SNES/N64 so I cant wait to play all those games I missed: Super metroid, zelda MM, Jet force Gemeni etc. Maybe some of you had all those conoles before but a lot of people didnt. It may be milking to you but for many it is an easy way to play those games you missed out on. If I wanted to play super metroid now I would have to buy a SNES and a copy of the game. That costs me about $30 on EBAY, not including shipping. Yes I could emulate it and I did. BUt using a keybored didnt feel the same as a regular controller.

Too bad MS can only update easy arcade games instead of thier own Xbox games to make it fully BC and able to compete with the Wii.

Pwn and Exit ya'll, this thread of over : )wok7
When did GC games become availble for d/l. I see you are making all kinds of strange threads like this. VC is not a better that live arcade for many reasons.

1.) Only old IPs ATM

2.) Not Many titles ATM

3.) No online play ATM

4.) No upgrades graphically

5.) No additional features (gamerscore, co-op, leaderboards, etc) ATM.

^^^ It will remain that way till those things change.

The VC does have better games than the XBLA.Even though there isn't any new content on the VC (yet),you can't deny the fact that it does have a strong list of titles.

The XBLA has a chance to be better if Castlevania: SoTN is updated graphically and has the achievements, those features would actually make sense for that type of game.

[QUOTE="project343"]VC was designed so Nintendo could resell their games for further milkage, nothing more. I absolutely hate the idea.Magical_Guy

It gives people who never played those games a chance to play them. But they are overpriced.

Overpriced in a way but still cheaper than buying a orginal cart.
