Blu-Ray is currently 3:1 and will probably be 5:1 by end of 2007. Wait... Why are there so many Pre-Orders on a $850 dollar Console in UK? When there are 360's abundantly available for cheaper. What the heck is goin on? What the heck is going on? truesKill87The NA and Japan launch also had massive buzz... riots, people mugged and killed... so much for that.
It sucks that we had to wait, but in return we'll get to experience the PS3 with the latest firmware (Background downloading etc.) and with pretty much the best launch line up in history :PA2DThe SNES just launched in Tanzania. Does that mean IT has the best launch line-up in history?
Just wait a few days until the European gamers realise that theres barely any good games on the consoleLed_poison
Good hope alive..............that is a really lame excuse.........but good try anyway!!
I really enjoy reading all the excuses.........LOL
It just shows that just because you want Sony to fail doesn't mean it is going to happen!

I don't think it really did anything. And you can't say they always will because that's what they said about the Roman Empire.
people need to realize that no matter how much you lie against Sony, no matter how much you hate Sony, even though you launch before Sony. PlayStation will still come out on top. its INEVITABLE.
so haters, eat your hearts out.

Well known online retailer 'Play' has joined the likes of Amazon and Woolworths by declaring there is an exceptionally high demand for the PS3 at their store. Play is taking six times more pre-orders than it received for PlayStation 3 than Xbox 360 - and 15 times more than the Nintendo Wii. Even with the only option being a £525 bundle, seems that UK gamers are more than prepared to pay for Sony's next generation system.
That's according to head of games Gian Luzio, who told GamesIndustry.biz that PS3 is "the most pre-ordered console yet" for Play. The retailer is offering a GBP 524.99 bundle which includes first-party titles MotorStorm, Resistance: Fall of Man and Genji.
Play also ran pre-order schemes for the Wii and Xbox 360, but some customers were left disappointed when they failed to receive their consoles on day one.
"We underestimated the demand and we were very disappointed that we could not fulfil all pre-orders due to stock shortages," admitted Luzio.
However, Play has pledged to deliver all pre-ordered PS3 units on launch day, with Luzio stating, "We have taken the necessary steps to ensure that customers will only be able to pre-order the system up until Play's allocation has been reached.
It's not just Play which is seeing healthy pre-orders for PS3, according to Sony. A spokesperson told GI.biz, "With an unprecedented day one shipment of 1 million machines into Europe and a software catalogue of over 30 titles available at launch, retailer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

Again, moronic cows being blinded. Konami announced its 2007 lineup and MGS4 was NOT on it.
This is my perception of events:
Those who pre-ordered are either Sony fans or technophiles looking to pick up a Blu-ray player on the cheap. Also, in the UK at least, the amount of myths and rumours about the capabilities of the PS3 is disgraceful. The media is hyping it as the 'most powerful console ever' when we are yet to see anything that surpasses 360 graphics. It is proof that the Playstation brand name still holds strong when people are willing to purchase based on almost no knowledge of the console or the games whatsoever.
Sony are relying on apathy and misinformation to peddle the PS3 in the UK and I suspect this is the same throughout Europe. I certainly expect high sales throughout Europe at launch but I imagine, and hope, these will wane until Sony begins to treat consumers with with respect and honesty.

We're not there yet, however, and by the time we are this console war will be pretty much decided so no, this will not be a significant factor in who wins the war.
[QUOTE="animation_imp"]Well, I don't believe the sales will be massive, they'll be steady, but most people I know are waiting for a price-drop Most still prefer the ps3 over the 360 though, not because of the graphics, but we're kinda fighter freaks and with Namco-Bandaï becomming part of the sony corporation, that means certain exclusives like SC and Tekken, which are defenately a must-have. I don't think they'll sell out soon, 1 mil consoles is a lot. Also a lot of people prefer the 20 gig system, and that one doesn't come out at launch. But believe me a lot of people are hyped on this machine, not because of misinformation, as some here try to imply, but because of games like motorstorm, which is a rather European minded game, and Singstar, which is (with guitar hero) the most fun you can have with a computer system (it even beats the Wii in getting non-gamers playing). But you have to remeber, Europeans get games often much later then you guys, FF XII is releasing next week, we just got Okami and God Hand, Rogue Galaxy is still a long way of, we're still waiting for digital devil saga 2 and God of War 2 and burnout dominator is coming our way too. You see many ps2 players won't buy a next gen console for quite some time, they take the conversion at their own pace, unlike the original xbox owners, who had to buy a new system, or stop gaming (And since only half the xbox owners picked up a 360, I don't think many were pleased with this marketing strategy from MS... So we'll see, no need to rush...truesKill87good post.
Perhaps...but I'm still waiting for a solid argument against my points.

Your Perceptions are based on bias and falsities. If you look at any system out there you could say the exact same things. People Hype the Wii and say it's graphics are comparable to the Xbox360 in some cases. That is a lie. People say that the 360 can do a True 1080p picture that will compare to the PS3. It cannot because the 360 does not have an HDMI out. So when it does the 1080p the colors will not be the same. and so far every game on the 360 that can do 1080p is up scaled to it not originally set at it. So If you really want to go into it. Sony treats its fan base better than both Nintendo or Microsoft. Sure you pay a little more up front, but in the end you are getting a better console/product that will be around longer at still compete 5 years from now.

Please don't sidetrack the thread by saying 360 can't do 1080p because it lacks no HDMI. Depending on your set-up HDMI may not provide the best video and VGA can do 1080p movies, component can do 1080p games...Even if they are upscaled. In which at least it upscales the games.

There is a difference between anecdotes and full blown media treachery. All this waffle about HD and Blu-Ray is the exact reason why Sony (and Microsoft) can perplex your average customer, of the many people I have asked about the PS3 and why it is better than the competition; the most recurrent answers are: 'It has the best graphics' and 'It has Blu-Ray'. Such a shame they have no idea what 'Blu-Ray' is. You speak of bias in my post, the only bias I see is a 'price implies quality' bias, many consumers seem to think because the PS3 is the most expensive it is automatically of the best quality and greatest longevity.
What reasons are there for the PS3 supposedly lasting longer? Surely its previous generation counterpart, the PS2, denounces that argument; after all it is still sellng extremely well to this day. Technology always becomes old, having the most up-to-date technology now does not mean your console will last; the prime example is the original X-Box. It was the most powerful console yet its successor came a year before its next-gen competitors.

Sony? VGA has been the standard for years for resolutions higher than 1080p. HDMI is a standard for COPY PROTECTION, the 360 supports 1080p NATIVELY through VGA. Do some research, seriously.
Really What happened? Ive been let down by 360 fanboys claiming with blood that Sony would fail because of the Delay. Thats being proven far from true just like the claims Blu-Ray will kill Sony. When Blu-Ray is killing HD-DVD 3-1. Whats Goin On?!?!? truesKill87

WOW if you acutally read my post you would have noticed that I said the 360 would push out washed out colors in 1080p compared the the ps3 not that the 360 cannot do 1080p. and HDMI is not just for copy protection. it's actually a faster interface than VGA allowing for the higher resolutions and better colors all in one. I did read your post, your sentence was constructed such that it could be misinterpreted. Games will be coming out soon capable of native 1080p (see Virtua Tennis). As for the washed out thing, well, since not a single non-upscaled game has been released yet, that is a powerful bit of research you've done, using a time-travelling DeLorean no doubt. Please Log In to post.
