It is a sad day when Microsoft is showing off Fable 2, Forza 2, Bioshock, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, and Mass Effect yet Sony fans hype the PSH as the determining factor in the console war.

Since when does a MySpace/2nd Life/The Sims rip-off change anything when it comes to videogaming? Did I miss something? Why would people want to turn on their videogame console and walk around this virtual lobby and talk to strangers? Why not just go to a chat room, or MySpace, or, God forbid, OUTSIDE? Is it so they can go to other peoples virtual apartments instead of their actual apartments? Is it so they can see what movies these strangers watch, instead of just talking to them regularly?

I just don't get it?

Exactly, it's going to be full of attetntion seeking idiots, just like all these social networking sites. It's quite pathetic how people think this is going to be anything other than a device for the dregs of society to 'socialise' with each other.

I didn't want to put it so harshly...but, yeah. Anyway, my point was: Have Sony fans become soo desperate for good news, that they pretent this service make the PS3 suddenly worthwile?

It is Sony's "Mii-too" strategy. They see something that works and they like. They take it, put their own unique spin on it and repackage it as something completely new and unique.
