I want to buy the world best portable machine

Before anything with portable I mean:

no need to charge in order to use its full power (laptops need to be connected to eletricity) while nintendo switch (just an example) can run games without power cord connected.

So basically I want to know the world best real portable gaming machines that can go full potential on the go without power cord connected.

I already have nintendo switch but want to get one more portable beast.

I also want to know if you know of any near future release that might fit this description.

I think you're on the right track looking at the A10X and the portable PCs.

I kinda agree with the above, you probably won't last very long with those laptops in full throttle but they are far more versatile than an iPad in terms of games and software library.

Laptops don't need to be connected to run them. Have you ever used a laptop before?

The OP states they have a Switch. They state they want a more powerful gaming device, that will run at full power without a cord. That's a gaming laptop. Hell, gaming laptops are the most powerful portable gaming device even if you DON'T set them to run a full power on portable mode. It's simply not a contest. I'm not saying a laptop is "better" than the Switch - but if they already have one, and want the most power on the road? What are we supposed to recommend? The Shield? That's a crappy gaming laptop shaped like a tablet, or a more powerful Switch without Nintendo exclusives, depending on your perspective.

@atomolog: that might be a good machine in terms of portability and battery life... but is it a good machine for gaming? Not unless you want primarily mobile games. You can definitely game on a gaming laptop for 3 hours.

I would actually argue you may have the best portable machine right now in the Switch. It's not the most powerful, it doesn't have the best battery life - but over its life it probably will have the best balance of portability, power, battery life, and full-fledged games.

There's ALWAYS going to be a tradeoff - laptop is unequivocally the best for power and games - but less portable, less battery life. Something like a tablet can yield better portability than a laptop and better battery life than a Switch, but more fringe titles and cell phone games.

That's the nature of the game.

The most practical solution might be a battery bank that can output the 19V or whatever laptops use, plus a bunch of pre-charged laptop batteries. So when your about out you connect the battery bank, which gives you power while you swap out the laptop batteries.

PS Vita? It ain't really too impressive compared to your Switch but it's the next best portable console in terms of power. No more 1st party support these days either but it still has a few really good AAA titles and an impressive game collection including PS2 and PS1 classics as well as the entire collection of PSP games. A lot of people bash the PS Vita but it's my go to handheld until I get a Switch. It gets the job done imo

@xantufrog: im not sure thats true (or maybe im missing a setting). i have tried setting every power setting i can find to full power mode but i just cant get my laptop to run at full speed when on the battery. the dedicated GPU (a 780M) will keep its memory clock down and gaming performance is quite a bit down compared to having it plugged in. i have read that there is a limit to the rate at which a battery can be drained so the GPU has to be more conservative when running on battery.

maybe thats changed with newer hardware though or maybe i am just missing a setting.

anywho the switch is pretty much the best device on the market at the moment that meets your requirements. there are the nvidia shield devices but the game selection on those is a bit meh and its mostly used for streaming from a PC. some cool hardware though.

the vita is old now. it was a beast when it released but its an old beast. still wipeout, killzone mercenary, tearaway and other games are pretty cool on it. WRC4 on the vita is a guilty pleasure of mine.

the smachZ was kickstarted late last year and it looks interesting. its basically a portable PC built into a steam controller with a 1080P screen. now its not going to play the latest AAA blockbuster. its roughly as powerful as an xbox 360. but the PC has a ton of games that would be great in a portable device. i have heard (just rumour though) that itll be sent to backers in oct this year with a release to market early next year buuut...we shall see.

but at the moment the switch is basically the best portable gaming device there is.

@osan0: it's true that i am speaking from my personal experience - I haven't owned THAT many laptops, and haven't run every iteration of mobile pc hardware to be sure! Mine may have been in the minority. Still - if your PC downclocks on battery, it's still a factually more powerful piece of hardware than the alternatives out there. But I'm with you - I think if you don't value gaming on a laptop for whatever reason, there's no more appealing alternative right now than the Switch (and it has its own strengths to counteract its lower power)

the new surface is also a beast but without external gpu. still if it can game is okay by me I just want it to be portable without the need to plug cords during use.

@atomolog: I'm really confused by what you are after. The Surface is no more "runs without cords" than a laptop. It's just a twist on the laptop form factor, really - if you got a Surface, you'd be PC gaming (Steam, XBox app) but on an inferior mobile PC compared to a gaming laptop. They'll show you its battery life and one might go "ooh" - but that's not playing TW3 at 1080p Ultra, that's browsing GS with some Youtube mixed in. You say you want the "most powerful portable gaming machine", and are considering a Surface - but the answer is an Asus ROG, Razer Blade, or similar.

@DragonfireXZ95: I own gaming laptop. They are not portable. Not only the battery last like an hour, you have to also consider cooling.

Unless you are looking for a desktop that is easy to carry in suitcases, because you are a worldy person and moves around a lot, I highly advise not getting one. I have it because it's exactly what I need.

@j2zon2591: I will get both thats it. First the new Ipad pro 10.5 inch with 516gb and sim (phone) card for internet and the keyboard case and pen. And later Ill get a surface pro for steam games on the go.
