You honestly think the sales are going to stay in "impulse power" with the lineup it has this Christmas? Eh...I disagree.KD-ArchangelWell, no doubt Halo 3 is going to be the big party for the console.. But the real question is how many of those people lined up for Gears of War already?
Who here honestly thinks that by December 2007, the PS3 will break 5 mil, or even 4.80 mil?
No one?
Didn't think so.
By November 2007, who here honestly believes the 360 will break 15 million units sold? Last year it struggled to break ten and it looks like the 360s sales are on impulse power only in its second year.. If the 360 doesn't break 15 million by it's second birthday, when will it?Ninpo_Osa
Well its at about 11 Million right now, so with Halo 3 and all the other great games this holiday you may see around 13 million by next year? idk pretty hard to predict, but I dont think we will see 15 million.
Considering that Sony has depleted shipments of the 60GB SKU recently, beware what you wish for.. The PS3 has easily broken 5 million units by now. So, there I said it. This thread is about 360 sales, though. Nice try at bringing the PS3 down to the ground with you.Who here honestly thinks that by December 2007, the PS3 will break 5 mil, or even 4.80 mil?

Yeah, 13 million seems about right.
Definatly not a lemming(but I love my 360), and I'll give you some honesty:
WHO CARES? Come november, ill be enjoying it the same as before.

If you are open to insight then you should look at this from a unbiased perspective.
Out of all the consoles released in the past, The Xbox 360 has stayed at launch price longer than anyone of them. It also sold 4 million consoles in 5 months without a Halo last year. Remeber Xbox had 2 Halo's to luanch itself into the mainstream. Simple math suggest that the Xbox 360 will sell more than its predecessor once Halo launches and there are a slew of other blockbuster scheduled for 2008 that the original Xbox didn't have to brag about. GTAIV is just one of those examples.

That's shipments, bub. The units that ented the store and the units that left are two very different and spaced out numbers.

Its inevitable that theres a successor..Hell, their even working on their OWN CPU for it. Lets be honest, we've seen Nintendo in worse positions than what MS is current, and were not talking about a Dreamcast here which Sega only had $100 Million to market. Were talking unlimited ammounts of money backing it, more so than Sony or Nintendo can put up! IMO, its not about instant market dominance but rather putting yourself in a comfortable position for the future.
Rest assured that these companies won't make the same mistakes next-generation they are making this generation or last generation; The Nintendo Wii should be evident of what I'm saying. They went from last place to breaking PS2 sales records all within a few years but at a significant cost to core gamers. IMHO, The 360 is in a much better position than it was last gen..its ahead of the Playstation in sales, that should be indicative of something.
http://kotaku.com/gaming/xbox-360/one-take-on-the-360-red-ring-of-death-276045.php By the way, Buttpickle, all we have to do is take a look at how few 360s have SHIPPED this year to know the score. If the stores aren't ordering them, the stores aren't selling them. You probably are the kind of person that takes NPD sales as biblical proof and figure half of America's sales equal Germany's 360 sales or something. I have news for you, you are in for a rude awakening. One Asian manufacturer that SmartHouse spoke to on Friday said "Microsoft have known of this problem for a long time. They are trying to blame component manufacturers but it was a combination of bad design and them (Microsoft) wanting everything cheap. This is what caused the problem along with them wanting to beat Sony to market. A lot of manufacturers were pushed to deliver components without much testing of the components working together inside the console". Microsoft has said little about the causes of the hardware woes. It relies on two contract manufacturers to make the Xbox 360--Flextronics International (FLEX) and Celestica (CLS)--both of which make the finished product at plants in southern China. But Bach indicated the issue had nothing to do with the recent spate of tainted or defective Chinese imports.

I dont care, I got mine and in SW, sales dont matter :)Heil68
Sales Do Matter. Isn't It Obvious?
No one has proven me wrong yet. Someone simply said that sales don't matter. No one ever justified that statement with evidence and reasoning, though.
[QUOTE="Snowboarder99"]Sorry, but with casuals, where most sales come from, Halo alone competes with all of thatNinpo_OsaLet's compare Halo 2s sales to GT3, shall we? And uhh, I hate to break it to ya, but Halo is an FPS.. Why are you even bringing up casual gamers here?
because that is where most of the sales come from. what he said was right..halo is competing with all of them in terms of sales.
Yeah Halo3 is not going to push more than 1-2 million consoles this holiday. You guys gotta realize that most all Halo fans have already moved on long ago for what 360 already has got..... Xbox1 has been dead 2 years for christs sakes. This holiday is about the first time Sony fans have even had a reason to move on from PS2.
And even if 360 did hit 15 million..... that's after all possible system seller games are out and there's no momentum from there. Probably will only hit 13-14 though.
That's something you guys always fail to realize about PS3 vs. 360. 360 has the games, it has a reasonable price, yet is completely stagnant. After Halo3 there's just nothing to drive the sales. PS3 on the otherhand is selling at the same rate as 360, has very few games so far, and a much higher price. 360 has nowhere to go from here. PS3 can only get better.

This entire thread stinks of PS3 fanboys. You guys are soooooo blind to actually think lame games like HS, R&C or even MGS4 can compete with Halo. That game is known world wide unlike most of the games you've mentioned.
I think better topic would be Cows be real for once". Serioulsy you've getting your *&^##@ handed to you by the 360 and the Wii. The sales have been horrible and even in your best month ,after the TEMPORARY price drop, it still came in 3rd. One of your most hyped games just flopped big time and you've got nerve to make a retarded thread like this.
I'm no fanboy of any system as I own a 360, PS3 and my gaming computer. Stupid threads like this make people want to slap the hell our the blindSony fanboys.

Looks like we touched a nerve. Perhaps PS3 fans are getting tired for the race to the bottom that the constant bickering with Lemmings leads to. I'm here to "break the cycle". Let's see you talk all that smack about "Sony fanboys" at the end of PS3s second year. See, that "early lead" BS is catching up to bite ya in the arse every day. It's one thing to keep momentum and talk this crap, it's another when your sales fall flat and all you have to do is crap on the PS3 while waiting for your RROD coffin in the mail. If you're not careful, the PS3 and it's fans won't be the whipping boy of these forums for too much longer.[QUOTE="Snowboarder99"][QUOTE="AskForDetails"][QUOTE="KD-Archangel"]You honestly think the sales are going to stay in "impulse power" with the lineup it has this Christmas? I never said that they were bad games. I am very interested in the PS3's holiday lineup. And I'm not gonna bash UT3 since I get to play it next year. Anyways, I never said it would beat all of them, I'm just saying its going to do a good job competing with them alone. And Halo isnt mediocre...fanboy[QUOTE="apolloluke"]It should hit 17 million by June 2008

Im no lem, but interesting question. I think the release of Halo 3 will push the sales of consoles by MAYBE 2 million. In all honesty I dont realistcally see the 360 having 15 million total sold by years end, but it should be close...

I'm sure a little game called Halo 3 will move a lot of consoles.Onoskelis
Yes, but will it move 4 million in two months? I doubt it. 360 will be at 14 mil by the end of the year, but by the end of 2008 it will have been surpassed by Wii and PS3 if its not ahead will be right on 360's heels.
