I was a huge 360 controller fan and just realized the PS3 controller is better!

I used to rant and rave about how much the better the 360 controller was than the PS3 controller and was shocked whenever anyone tried to say that the PS3 controller was better.

Well I haven't had my Xbox 360 for a year and have just been using a PS3 (always annoyed that I had the inferior controller) and then I just got a 360 again and was all excited about the controller but just realized, the PS3 controller is better because:

1) The d-pad is better on the PS3 controller obviously

2) The triggers on the 360 controller are actually not that great - they take a lot more effort (in terms of reaching to them and pressing them all the way down) compared to the PS3 controller's L1 and R1 buttons (which are usually used in place of the 360 triggers in most FPS games) which you can just very quickly and easily hit, which is particularly good in FPS games for faster shooting

3) Having the left analog stick at the bottom and the d-pad at the top on the PS3 controller is actually the better set-up! Its easier to navigage the stick with your left thumb when its slightly below your thumb because you get a more relaxed grip by bringing your thumb down onto it (as opposed to the 360 controller where you bring your thumb up)

4) The sides of the 360 controller where your palms go around is really confortable...for an hour or so and then it gives you hand cramps!

5) The dead-space on the PS3 controller is much less than the 360 controller which is much better for everyone except for complete noobs. The 360 controller dead-space is so high that its like you are playing all games with the controller settings to beginner level!

I do agree but this is kinda pathetic how people are making big deals out of the controllers. Keep your thoughs to yourself or write a blog lol.

I hate the PS3 controller. At least for FPSs. It never feels right to me. For everything else, it's ok.

I find that any game that uses directional buttons to any degree better on the DS3. The stock directional pad on the 360 controller is nothing short of broken.

For racing games I would give the edge to the 360 controller because you have a larger motion to control the accelerator.

For FPS I have no problems using both. (other then directional)

Weight is another issue that differs. Some people like the heavier 360 controller. I like the lighter one.

The dualshock 3 (not the sixaxis) is what I prefer

While I think the 360 controller is better, the Dualshock 3 is still very good.

To me the 360 controller feels like the 2nd best controller to mouse and keyboard in terms of FPS controls. I really hate the Playstation R and L buttons.

But to make a thread about it? You realize it's an opinion right? The PS3 controller is not better to everyone.

Technically, the ps3 controller is superior, well, actually depends which one you get but my two boast dual shock and sixaxis and rechargable.

But the main problem i have with 360 controllers are the buffers, after using ps controllers, the buffer buttons seem small and fiddly and i miss them sometimes.

However, ergonomically, the 360 controller is superior, its just soooo comfy. Plus i prefer the concave joysticks as opposed the convex ones of the ps.

As for the trigger vs r2/l2, the trigger is more comfy. But year, MS sacrificed the swiftness of r1/l1 for the comfy, atmospheric feel of triggers. And before anyone, it allows ou to modulate in racing, ps2 controllers were also pressure sensitive.

i feel right at home with the ps3 controller because its what ive been using for 15 yrs or so the 360 controller felt awkward to get used to. also re5 (DEMO) felt more responsive on my ps3

I think the Dualshock 3 is a lot more polished and complete then the 360 controller. People say it sucks for FPS's, it plays like a dream in Killzone 2 imo. Best controller ever.

The differences between the 360 controller and PS3 controller are so minor its amazing why people even bring it up. I've been gaming for so long that all controllers feel natural for me, even if I haven't used them in the while..maybe because I grew up with the rectangular NES pad lol...

The 360 controller is much more comfortable, while the DS3 is much more responsive(pressure sensitive) and more convenient. Both controllers have their pros and cons.

so do i, it makes toast much better. But on topic i also prefer the ps3 controller more. I understand where the 360s controllers love comes from but i am so much more use to the dualshock controllers.

Uhg. The Dualshock controller is what kept me from completely falling in love with my PS3 (well.. I guess there were a few minor other things.. but the controller was by far my biggest gripe). It's really starting to show it's age. If sony were to pump out a new redesigned controller I would most definitely pick up another Playstation. For now though, that controller is just too annoying for me. Everything about the PS3 screams quality.. except that controller, it's just junk.

And please... No more motion controls after this gen.
