Im not holding my breath on this one. I don't think that is 100% accurate. If it is, good thing for console owners.

Not necessarily. They have been doing beta tests with Shadowrun on PC and 360, and the console players we're owning the PC players. The devs have to put a handicap for people who use controllers, so they compensate by making the aim reticule larger, throw in a bit of autoaim as well probably. If it was a 1:1 ratio between KB/M and controllers, it would be no fun.

Yea there getting a handicap! I'm talking about no handicap crap, should be fine since so many console owners claim the controller is better then KB/M.

16 player battles?
No mods?
Xbox Live community?
Controller?
Dumbed down gameplay?
Dumbed down graphics?

No. Thanks. I will be enjoying this game the way it was meant to be enjoyed, on the PC.

Well the graphics will probably be better on the 360, and the XBOX Live community is great. I'll probably get it for the PC though as I've been playing ET RTCW since it came out on the PC.

I remeber some guy that worked for ID saying in an interview last year that it would be coming to the 360 at some point, but i never heard anything about a ps3 version.

In this epic multiplayer-focused game, players can choose to defend humanity as a part of the Global Defense Force (GDF) or destroy it as a merciless Strogg alien invader. Under the executive production of id Software, Nerve Software is developing Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, while Z-Axis is the developer for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system.

“We're pleased to be working with Nerve and Z-Axis to bring the highly-anticipated gameplay from Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars to the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 system,” said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software.

Winner of more than 15 awards in 2006 and already selected as one of the most anticipated new titles in 2007 by more than eight publications, Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars is being developed for the Windows PC by Splash Damage – the Nerve Software and Z-Axis console versions will also feature strategic team play, persistent character promotions and online stats tracking. In this adrenaline pumping fight for survival, warring forces utilize a variety of different vehicles, deployable structures, and defense systems including quad-bikes, tanks, and alien walkers for epic ground assaults; or helicopters and anti-gravity ships to unleash airborne attacks. Throughout each battle, teams establish bases, deploy defense structures, artillery, radar, and advanced forward-command systems into enemy territory while constructing and demolishing obstacles to speed progress and gain a tactical advantage over the opponent. Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars features 16-player battles on the console systems, delivering the ultimate team-and objective-based multiplayer experience.

Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars has not yet been rated by the ESRB."

Hah, no. I don't think I need to elaborate, either. Just look at cross-platform games so far.

Oblivion?
Prey?

Don't be bringing up a launch title that was ported by Raven... even Doom 3 on Xbox looked and ran better.  Prey was a better job but still looking like a low-mid range pc.  The devs have had time with the 360 now so things should look better now.  If recent titles are any indication and knowing the folks thats porting this over, I'de say it should look as good as a solid mid range pc at the time of release (which is extremely good).  Only a high end pc would blow it away (obviously).

Dont be hating just because others who arent super rich can play these same great games and have just as much fun over Xbox Live.

Because they know it'll still be best on PC and it will. Mods, M/KB, no dumbed down gameplay, no screaming 13 year olds over XBL = win.

Mods--what's to stop cross-platform mods?
M/KB--either the console can support KB/M or controllers can be assisted just a bit to keep gaming fair.
13-year-olds over XBL--what about the Mute?

Mods cant be done on Consoles due to lack of Dedicated server support.

The texture quality in both Quake 4 & Prey were low to medium at best, with very low bump mapping. The picture quality was nowhere near PC at medium quality. And Doom 3 for the original Xbox looked really really bad compared to the PC counterpart.

Now let me guess, the Doom 3 engine, heavily modified compared to the engines used in Quake 4, Prey ... I guess the system requirements will be higher. So if they are higher, this means the renderer is more demanding on the hardware. So what makes you think an even more demanding game compared to Q4, Prey might work/look better on the Xbox 360 which couldn't handle the previous ones correctly?

The Doom 3 engine was never low-hardware friendly to begin with. There's not much optimisation to be done, without loosing the ambience in the first place. It requires raw processing power of the graphics card if it isn't there it's visible.

On a side note: I ain't hating anything, in fact I like the fact that others are able to play great games, I care very little about multi-plats and PC loosing exclusives, but frankly I like to correct peoples mistakes of their thinking or reasoning.

Most FPS players know every game feels different with a mouse and takes a good amount of play time to get used to. Controllers are a lot more forgiving with sensitivity and moving between games generally..since you don't need to be dead-on accurate with most games because of aim-assist. Even with such advantages given to the controller players, the majority of KB/M users will surpass the controller players by far. You simply can't beat the speed and precision of a mouse in the right hands unless you're using full auto-aim on a controller, which removes all degree of skill in the game. Even with full auto-aim you still can't turn as fast as you can with a mouse.
Velocitas8
Some would say that the kind of fast turning you see in, say, Counter Strike pros, is unrealistic compared to real life and that perhaps this should be a handicapping factor (IOW, the mouse should only be able to turn you so quickly).

wow

PC version for me thanks.

Haha I didn't even see that..

Quake Wars will support 32 players at launch for PC..but the engine itself supports 64+ players, so you'll see larger maps created by users after launch.

I guess that means some larger maps will be missing in the console version?

I believe this is not due to networking or processing limitations but memory limitations. In case no one's realized it yet, this will be the first game to employ those huge MegaTextures. You would have to imagine that large maps that use MegaTextures will probably be too demanding for consoles with their 512MB of memory and will probably require at least 1GB if not 2 to play.

doesn't change the fact that there is still no Dedicaded server support for the consoles. +there is another major problem, mods are ofter resource demanding, where on the PC you can tone down the textures to improve performance, you cant on the consoles. The Small amount of RAM on consoles will greatly impair most Mods.

But PC games dont use live, they use primarily game spy for server browsing. XBL would have to be completely rebuilt for it to offer Dedicated server support out of the box. And for features like dynamic server downloads. Also, remember, PC games install themselves unto the hard drive, which is different then directly from the disk, Mods install themselves unto the game directory in the installation files, without Significant changes, they cannot be made to function outside of the game directory.

It's perfectly doable. Question is, how will this impact the scene of both worlds. As said in this topic already, back in the day when Q3 from DC was compatible with the PC version, most DC players were stomped into the ground when a PC user connected to the server, then they disconnected. It's not about elitism, but once you have no aiming aids on the console and only the sticks to turn you can move around as fast as a PC user with the mouse who can set his sensitivity and acceleration and can turn around for 360 degrees with moving the mouse half a centimeter.

Also, if the game should include some aiming aids for the console users, that would be highly unfair to the PC users. I'm not worries about getting killed, but when someone aims 2 meters aside of me and he gets a direct hit, it's like a PC users would use cheats. People will complain and if this really gets on, with this aids, people will start to filter out Xbox users and not allow them access to their servers. Mods on the other hand are probably reserved for the PC.
So yes, moded servers wont be available to the Xbox360 users.

But I still think, that this game wont have unified servers.

I'm not talking about existing games but upcoming games. If a game supports Live Anywhere, I would think Microsoft would have code ready to import servers found by other means and relay them to the Live network so 360 players can join in.

Well of course they're getting a handicap. No one denies that the KB/M is more accurate than the analog stick of a controller. But the game needs to be fun, and the opposing sides need to be able to compete. So the difficult part for the devs will be to balance the controls of the controller to make them as close as possible to aiming with a mouse.

No it wouldnt, Halo 2 on PC is live anywhere, but it doesnt let you play against the x box regardless. The thing is, there is still no way to allow access to things like custom server, and dedicated server support... Furthermore, Live anywhere is clearly a paid service, I have a heavy doubt that paying for an non-MMO would be popular with any PC gamer.

[QUOTE="HuusAsking"][QUOTE="cobrax25"][QUOTE="HuusAsking"][QUOTE="cobrax25"]But PC games dont use live, they use primarily game spy for server browsing.

I'm not talking about existing games but upcoming games. If a game supports Live Anywhere, I would think Microsoft would have code ready to import servers found by other means and relay them to the Live network so 360 players can join in.

How would you know that? It's not even out yet, is it? And what makes you think Live Anywhere is a pay service?

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6156172.html?sid=6156172 Live anywhere uses the same player ID as from XBL, unless their making XBL entirely free, I doubt that Live anywhere...will be free.

[QUOTE="F-Minus"]Hm... modified Doom3 engine looking better on the Xbox360? Yeah I saw that with Quake4 and Prey, don't be illusional :)

You don't need to be "Super Rich" in order to enjoy PC Gaming, this is a widespread misconception. I've been PC Gaming my whole life, as well as console gaming, and you know what? I worked for it my whole life. I worked when I was 14, through High School, and tended Bar all through College. Yeah, you just might have to work for it, but there's nothing wrong with looking at something you build(My Choice) or buy yourself and be damn proud of it.

People can go on and on about rich this and rich that, when this simply just isn't true. You can have a mid-range system that will play PC Games in their glory for under a grand, plus you get all the bells and whistles of a PC. Xbox Live is great for the 360, but i'll take Xfire over anything anyday.
