Chances are that the gameplay will also be awesome.

What games have awesome graphics but crap gameplay? theres no answer apart from a few early Xbox games. At the end of the day who would waste loads of time and money making awesome graphics but have crap gameplay to bring the whole game down?

Camera is also important, so is motion. If there are frame rate issues then it can be a let down. Take Sonic on 360, great graphics but one of the most headache inducing games ever created. Some games NEED graphics like SOTC to feel good. It's dependant on the surroundings and atmosphere. RE4, amazing visuals that made the game THAT much better at the time. RERemake on GC...exactly the same game on PS1 but it was pretty much a brand NEW game due to graphics.

Sound is also important. Not as much but still. Good music usually equates to better motivation in you playing the thing. Like if God of War had crap music i gaurantee not as many people would have liked it. Even with a simplistic gameplay system the music was so damn epic it made you want to rip people's head off.

To me oblivion had really repetitive gameplay, kinda like a button masher, but the graphics and the content made up for it. Dahaka-UK

That's funny. i actually thought the graphics in Oblivion weren't that good. But the game play was great, if you're into the role-play type of game.

Graphics are subjective though, or at least the level at which they effect enjoyment are. Does Kameo have cleaner graphics than LoZ:TP? Yes. Does it cause me to enjoy LoZ:TP any less? No. Heck I still enjoy LttP, because it is a good game.

As for a game with great graphics but poor gameplay, what about Rumble Roses XX? I bought it because it was cheap and I like fighting games, but it feels like a lot of flash with very little substance.

The people knocking Doom 3 always forget one important factor. It was intended to be a complete remake, no some brand spanking new game. It was to be expected. It was supposed to be a decade old game with great graphics.Vandalvideo
